Jimbo just recently showed me this site and I've found that it's pretty awesome to see your prospective chances for getting into any college. It takes into account a lot of different factors, ranging from the standards (GPA and test scores) to things that might sometimes be overlooked (your yearly income). You can look at graphs comparing you to other students and see who got in with what stats and who didn't. Pretty coolio.

I don't really expect a big discussion to come from this, but just thought it'd be interesting to share. If this should be in internet renaissance, then go ahead and move it ;).

For the sake of this thread I got a 96.4% chance of getting into the Air Force Academy, which is awesome.

So what do you do if you didn't go to high school, but are already in college and want to see your chances of, say, a transfer?

Fsssssss, I only have a 58.3% chance of getting into IU :(

Someone really should've told me to care about my grades freshmen and sophomore years.

Actually I just showed Jimbo, because a friend of mine showed me! But yeah its a great site if you answer truthfully. It was a real eye opener for me, seeing as I have a ~70% shot to get into the schools I'm interested in. However one of the big things they left out was legacy. If your whole family went to Harvard for generations, and makes substantial donations, you're in.

I actually knew about it long before tennisace....

Anyway I think it's sometimes accurate, sometimes really not. For example, I have an 85% chance of getting into my favorite school (Lehigh U), and a much lower chance at getting into Rutgers... Now I think I have more of a 150% chance with Rutgers o.o;; Maybe it said that because I live in the same state as the school.

Whatever, it's still a nifty site.

I already graduated college. Sucks for all you high-schoolers, don't it?

Also bob3rt, see if your college has any articulation agreements. You are basically guaranteed to transfer to any school they have an agreement with, provided you have the grades.

It's a shame CSULA is such a crappy place, can't even get into Northridge like that... although they would probably take me as a transfer anyways since I've certainly got the grades and it's the same system.

I just registered there, where do you find all this stuff you're talking about!?

I haven't finished yet (only academics and some shizzle). 60% to Yale apparently.

EDIT: Boy does that legacy make a diff....5.1% chance for Harvard, 30% for Stanford, 30% for Brown. 74% for Johns Hopkins.

Ouch though. That does hurt. I suppose I should hedge my bets a bit.

Actually I think Yale is glitchy...
