HGSS Megaspeculation Thread

Obviously it's very unlikely that Gyara will get a new ability, by the way the threat would be drizzle, not swift swim, but if it ever got drizzle, then it would probably fall under both the offensive - having a free double stab waterfall to dispose of every non grass\water absorb pokemon - and support uber characteristics. This is pure theorymon of course.

Well, drizzle is a whole other story. However, the original speculation was that the Magikarp is forced to evolve, retaining Swift Swim.

I'm finally starting to see Entei, Suicune, and Raikou as cats instead of dogs (after like 10 years), mostly because of that video of Entei's eyes coming out of the dark and Raikou's new pose.
I guess their bodies never struck me as cat-like.

That's all fan-made music in those videos by the way. Idk who made those ones, but do know PokeRemixStudio makes some incredible stuff.
I've always thought of them as "beasts" myself, as it makes more sense to call them the "legendary beasts" than "dogs", as Raikou looks like a cat to me.

I've always known they were cats, but called them dogs anyway. "Legendary Cats" sounds awkward really. I think Entei's a lion, Raikou's a tiger and Suicune's a leopard.

Why does Suicune's name come from anyway? And how are you supposed to even pronounce it? Soo-i-cyoon? Swee-coon?

Edit: just looked it up and it pretty much means 'water monarch' in Japanese. Also I really hope it gets a good pose. I hate the D/P/Pt sprite- a real step down from the 3rd gen one.

The Japanese pronounciation is basically Swee-koon. I always thought Entei was a lion, Raikou a tiger, and then Suicune was the odd one out, looking like a jackal or hound.

I'd say all three have both feline and canine features. Most people seem to call them "Legendary Beasts".

Stuff to note in particular from that vid:

- Chikorita just moves into the battle like Yellow Pikachu

- What appears to be the two TR Admins, but there are now 4 TR members in the intro. Can't make them out properly due to poor video quality.

Red and Green haired Rockets!!

I'm guessing they are a female and male admin. There were 2 main ones in GSC that you fought twice (and once in FRLG iirc), I guess they just got a new look.

There was four TR admins back then, IIRC. The couple you fought in Mahogany Hideout, another one with pokémon I don't exactly remember now, and the final one (the "true boss"), which appeared to have a Murkrow.

There were 5:

Executive: Houndour, then Houndour, Koffing, Houndoom
Executive: Golbat, then Golbat
Executive: Koffing, then Koffing, Koffing, Koffing, Koffing, Weezing, Koffing
*Executive: Zubat, then Zubat, Raticate, Koffing
**Executive (F): Arbok, Gloom, Murkrow, then Arbok, Vileplume, Murkrow

according to the Crystal Trainer list. In FR/LG, there were two:

**Admin (F): Muk, Arbok, Vileplume
*Admin: Golbat, Weezing, Houndoom

The starred one are the ones which seem the most similar to me, once you bear in mind the level difference between FRLG and GSC. They both differ by one species - Muk / Murkrow and Houndoom / Raticate.

I really hope they make the admins stand-out against the rocket grunts (give us a bit of story or something) and actually give them different pokemon. Why are grunts and admins using the exact same pokemon?

I loved the intro, don't know about you but it really has that feeling of GSC. I would have liked a reference to the old one with Shellder in the bottom, Magikarp and Lapras.

But there's also another one that Lance fights in Mahogany while you fight a different one. I'd like to see that as a Double Battle in HGSS.

Riverside, I'm not understanding...

On a seperate (and more relevent) note, i wonder how they plan on doing the shiny animation with the follow Pokemon. It can't very well sparkle like the regular shinies, who only sparkle because theyre coming out of their Poke Balls.

The only thing that disappoints me is that video shows Twins Ann and Anne even weaker than they used to be - they used two level 16 Pokemon in the originals, now they use two level 15s. I was hoping HGSS would be harder, not easier. :|
