Quick Question! What is the fastest way to breed a Curse Umbreon? (Curse/Wish/Payback/Protect). Umbreon does not learn Curse/Wish. Thanks in advance!

if I breed a yanma with speed boost on emerald, will it keep speed boost if I migrate it over to Pearl?

It will keep it until you evolve it. When you evolve it, there is a 50% chance that it will turn into Tinted Lens. And no, resetting will NOT affect whether it will change or not. If you want Speed Boost Yanmega but it turns into Tinted Lens Yanmega, you'll have to get a different Yanma and try again.

Pardon my noobiness but what is chain breeding?

Ok this is the way you'll want to do it.

You breed a male Togetic/Togekiss who has Wish with a female Clefairy/Clefable. Once you get a male Cleffa with Wish, get it to Clefairy and then breed it with a female Eevee. The Eevee will now have Wish.

EDIT: This is of course, as was stated earlier, the non-Smeargle way to do it.

I have been gone from the competitive Pokemon scene for a while now (since around December 2008) and I'm looking to get back into it again. Would someone so kind to give me some of the "important" or "ground-breaking" changes to the metagame since I left. I left when the Platinum sets were just evolving so I imagine that a lot has changed since then. I'd just like to know the basics to get started off. I'll read through the site for more information. Thanks in advanced.

Were you there in time for CB Scizor? If not you're in for a shock...

I'm currently replaying Platinum for the chance to catch Registeel again- I've transferred my event Regigigas onto the card, and have just reached iron island, but cannot activate Registeel yet! I'd heard somewhere that you didn't need the national dex to catch the regi trio, but that looks like it's false.

Does anyone know just how far I need to get in order to activate the regi trio? is the national dex needed, or just all eight badges, or what?

in general, is timid the preferred nature for a life orb jolteon?

Yes it is, as Jolteon's greatest asset is its speed. Without Timid, it's outrun by a few thing that it would otherwise beat such as adamant DDGyarados.

I know that Gravity cancels out Magnet Risen Pokemon. But what if you use Magnet Rise after Gravity?

Yesterday I tried using a Mud-Slap on Shoddy Battle. I got the damage message, but I didn't see anything indicating an accuracy drop. Is there actually an accuracy drop on attacks like Mud-Slap?

Since it was ignored.

I'm trying to find the maximum Special Attack stat that a level 70 Rayquaza with 243 HP and 147 Special Defense is guaranteed to survive a non-STAB Ice Beam from (with full health and no stat changes on either side). I'm trying to use such a Pokémon for assistance in catching a shiny one in my Emerald now that I know my SID (thanks, shiny Geodude in Magma Hideout). According to MetalKid, that number is 107 (Ice Beam would do 84.36% - 98.77%), but I used an Ice Beam coming off of that SpA stat on a test Rayquaza, where it only did about 75%, and that Rayquaza turned out to have much weaker HP and SpD, which means something's not right. Can anyone help me out or point me to another reliable damage calculator? I was using his 3rd gen damage calculator (since this is in Emerald), but I assume that the only difference in damage calculation between 3rd and 4th gen is the concept of some physical attacks becoming special, and vice versa, right (which is obviously not an issue for Ice Beam)? I want to get it as weak as possible without any risk of an OHKO. Thanks!

well I'm assuming the level is 100

this is what 107 SpA does...I think

100 x 2 = 200
200 / 5 = 40, + 2 = 42
42 x 95 = 3990
3990 x 107 = 426930
426930 / 50 = 8538
8538 / 147 = 58, + 2 = 60
60 x 4 = 240
240 / 243 = 98.8% (max damage)

60 x 85 = 5100
5100 / 100 = 51
51 x 4 = 204
204 / 243 = 83.95% (min damage)

well that's what I get

I'm guessing you're using a lower level pokemon, because again, this calc is based on your attacking pokemon being level 100
