Does anyone have any advice in keeping track of your Journal flips as I tried for a Timid Zapdos 31/02/31/30/31/31
I manged to hit the Time and Delkay to get the seed I needed:
6050266
But the Frame is
5747

I am saved in Oak's Room in Eternia and have no wanders
I then subtracted 6 as Zapdos is Frame 6 (5741)
Then I walked 128 steps with 5 pokemon in my party (5736)
Then I divide that by to to get 2868 Journal flips.

I think last time I tried I lost count of my journal flips
Anyone have any tips in counting for that and do I have my math right?

Every 10 or 20 (or 50 or whatever), write tally mark on a piece of paper.
Keep a close count on them :D Journal flipping is MUCH less annoying than Happiness Tapping.

I don't mind doing journal flips in the 1000s, but god damn I don't even want to happiness tap more than 150 times.

It may be strange, but I use this video for journal flips and I keep a tally of every 100 I do. It is highly effective though. (at least for me)

OK Thanks. To bad thanks to dial-up at home cant see the video.

I had a lot less issues with double tapping, but I pefer to keep it under 500. Past that is get so tiring and you need to make a note so you can take breaks.

I always plan ahead when I do journal flips. I get the first 6 pages to show Ive caught a pokemon(no more/less than 6). That way, I just flip left till I don't have a catch, or right till it stops me. That is 5 flips to either end, then 5 back. All I have to do is count +1 for ecery 5, making it alot easier to count. Then I have a sheet I keep tallys for every group of 200 flips, so it's almost impossible to lose count.

Hm, actually my common frame is 5 now. Almost ALWAYS 5, odd I guess, but no big deal.

I got a non-perfect, but pretty darn good Shiny Spiritomb, who is Relaxed, and hatched in the Café.
His message is Mischievous, and it was possible to be Often Dozes Off, I was really sad it wasn't.
Relaxed and Often Dozes Off in the Café!? haha, anyhow, now to find a good odd-frame spread.

EDIT:
Oh yeah! Is there a way to know if a wild pokémon will have the item it has a chance of holding?
Same goes for characteristics, is there a method to which of them shows up when you have multiple 31s?

I am not sure on how the items is chosen or not. Just a guess, but if the item is 5% on a pokemon, then the 5% slot will have the item attached. Or if it is like 1% or whatever, it will be that slot. Or it could be like a 1% of item on a 5% slot, and 90-95 is the slot. 94-95 would be the item. This is just speculation and not fact, as far as I know.

There is something about characteristic somewhere, I don't know where on the forum, but it is based on the PID that determines when there is a tie which one to use.

Ah okay, very interesting.
I wish I could find that characteristic info, the board search function leaves out PID as it is too short :(

Why someone would kill azelf and save, I don't know, but someone said it works I believe. I don't know what you have to do though.

I could be wrong, I dunno if there is something special you have to do. And regarding the killing Azelf topic, I let my cousin do the story mode for my Plat (since it was originally his game) and he accidently knocked out Azelf.

I know I ask a lot of wacky questions, but how are the Unown created?
How will I know which letter I will hit? I just wanted a shiny G.

I also heard that it works but wanted to check here for the most reliable source.
EDIT; So if you can't rebattle them, then you can't RNG abuse, can you?

I was doing the "HatchAShiny" and got the following amount of taps for a hasty naatured pokemon
Happiness checker: 15
Coin Flip: 11

Ive never gotten a number as low as this before and was wondering if anybody else had.....

btw I bred a gastly with it :)

If no one did this already, today I apparently discovered the honey tree RNG. The honey tree pokemon RNG is quite different and harder than regular catching RNG. The pokemon is determined once you slather bark on the honey though I am not sure how yet. You have to set your DS time a few hours before your target time. Here are the steps:
~First, you slather the tree with honey a few hours a target time
~Second, you wait a few hours
~Third, you hit your inital seed. If you do not hit it at first, you need to wait a minute for the next available time.
~Fourth, do journal flips and catch the pokemon
Honey tree pokemon are at frame 2 and are Method J.

Utlizing this information, I mangaged to catch this today. =)

edit: for some reason the trees continue to shake every time I change the date now. Odd.

ill have to keep that in mind thanks.

edit:also the only reason i cant rng abuse yet is because both my l and r buttons are messed up so i cant reset but i am going to start rng abusing when i get my new ds soon so for now good old fashion breeding.

i never knew you could get taps as low as that dude.
I once for a Jolly Ability 1 which became my 3rd Shiny Lucario with Inner Focus in Diamond with like 9 happiness double taps.

As for Platinum I finally caught the Zapdos I was after. Managed to get though all those frame without messing up. Thanks for all the advice of keeping count.
