Blizzard (an OU hail RMT)
For a couple of days I have been thinking of a hail team and well I tried many suggestions and many different strategies but it was all in vain and this team below is the one that worked most for me, but yet its not that stable.
THE LEAD
Gliscor @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 196 HP / 216 Spe / 96 Att
Jolly Nature
-Roost
-Stealth Rock
-Earthquake
-Taunt
This is my lead pokemon. Basically all I do is set up stealth rock and when I know a taunt is coming I just U-turn. This lead actually works really well for me but upon suggestion I might change it. This thing has sand veil which also allows me to miss some attacks when my opponent is using a lead tyranitar or a lead hippo. I thought of using mamoswine lead as well but I don’t know which one to chose. I kept roost for hp recover and i kept taunt to stop uxie and breeloms and other pokes slower than me from setting up. I usually u-turn to tentacruel before setting up hail. The EV spread always be to have 300 speed and 302 defense, allowing me to outrun adamant nature salamence and adamant nature lucario.
HAIL STARTER
Abomasnow @ Leftovers
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 252HP/ 252 spd /4 att
Nature: Sassy
-Blizzard
-Substitute
-Focus Punch
-Leech seed
Well this here, is my hail starter. I actually save this thing for latter use because you never know if my opponent is another weather based team user. Well this abomasnow is a regular sub/seeding/focus punching one. I made this abomasnow defensive because, well, this team is supposed to be Hail Stall. Blizzard is for coverage.
HAIL ABUSER
Froslass @ Leftovers
Ability: Snow Cloak
Evs: 32HP/252Spe/224SpA
-Spikes
-Confuse Ray
-Substitute
-Ice Beam
I love this thing. This thing is my key to success but again I might remove it for better poke. This thing basically subs down and hope for a miss or go for a confuse ray and than set up spikes. I thought of taking out blizzard for thunder wave but I might get taunted so I kept blizzard. Leftovers to make more subs. But seriously with snow cloak and a base of 110 speed I can outrun most pokes in ou and uu. This is also my rapid spin blocker. Ice Beam is for stab.
Stand Alone Sweeper
Latias
@ Life Orb
Timid Nature (Spe+ / Atk-)
252 SpA / 4 Def / 252 Spe
- Thunderbolt
- HP fire
- Draco Meteor
- Recover
Latias was suggested by someone and it seems to work for the team. I come in when my hail stops and its a stamd alone sweeper. It supports my team really well and gets rid of most of the threats my team faces. Thunderbolt is to kill off gyarados. Draco meteor is for stab and allows me to OHKO salamence. HP fire is to kill of scizor and recover is for hp recovery. And Latias makes an overall good wall.
RAPID SPINNER
Tentacruel @ Leftovers
Ability: Liquid Ooze
EVs: 252 HP / 120 Def / 136 SpD
Calm Nature
- Surf
- Rapid Spin
- Toxic Spikes
- Knock Off
Doesn’t every hail team have a rapid spinner. I thought about a long time for the best rapid spinners and I chose between Starmie and Tentacruel. Should I put knock off or HP electric? They both seem to work well. I basically send this thing out after I U-turn with my gliscor. This thing absorbs opponent toxic spikes and sets up toxic spikes for itself. Surf is for STAB.
WALL
Walrein @ Leftovers
Ability: Ice Body
EVs: 210 HP / 252 Def / 48 SpD
Bold Nature
- Protect
- Substitute
- Roar
- Ice Beam
This thing is my most precious pokemon in my hail team. Seriously, this thing is just a wall. Sub/Protect, with ice body and leftovers, this pokemon is a real pain to handle. Roar is to cause the switch and ice beam over blizzard because of the pp and i really didnt want to miss if my hail ever ran out.
Well, there was my team. Hope you liked it. Please, give me any suggestions possible.
