Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

If I'm looking to hit an odd Wondercard frame, should I wait for a couple seconds between journal flips and hitting A, or should I actually watch and wait for an NPC to move?

Thanks, Syberia!

Another question: I searched all my natures on Wichu's program using 620 as my minimum delay. I found out I can get as low as 600, though, can I now just re-search those natures and have my range be 600-620 to isolate ONLY the spreads I missed?

Yes. I doubt you'll find anything good, however.

Question;
All movements from NPC's count, right? not just them actually moving, but turning?

Fixed NPC patterns for the most part have no effect on the frame, unless there are some exceptions I am unaware of. "Randomly moving" NPCs do affect the frame in the manner you specified (taking a step, turning).

So, I'm gonna RNG a relaxed TR Regice tonight. I have a relaxed syncher, so when selecting a spread I go to Time Finder>>>DPPT capture and choose method J, "relaxed" as my syncher nature and "any" as my desired nature right?

Will that still produce a "relaxed" regice, or will that produce a Regice of a random nature since "any" is chosen as my "nature"?

So if I was trying to RNG a wondercard then I'd have to find a pokemart with a randomly moving NPC?

Sandgem town worked quite easily for me. There's only 1 moving NPC there and I even used his movements (pausing slightly to get 1 advancement for turning around) to help me hit my frame.

Ok I'll try that, thanks.
Should be getting that first RNG abused poke tonight ;O

Im doing something with a HP, but a low frame (PBR Magmortar)

And I actually just hit my delay, but my second was off one @_@

What delay range and (start/finish) do people typically put in for their shiny spreads when searching on wichu's program?

Minumum Delay: (Whatever lowest value you can hit consistently.)
Maximum Delay: I use 18000. Finds everything feasible, and doesn't take too long.

Enter zero for the value in the 'Start search at' and 'Finish search at' sections.

If it says 'Relaxed' for the Nature value in the spread you selected, then yes, it'll be Relaxed. Individual spreads will always tell you what nature it'll generate (unless you're doing Wondercard Pokemon).

excelent. thank you! :)

Sudo and mattj - That starting and ending frame is in reference to emeralds. I suggest you not do that, and instead type 0 for both.

Alright, thank you for the notice. I was actually thinking about the minimum and maximum delays, not the frames (which I've always put zero in). My mistake!

I am sure this has been asked, but if I just got a copy of Platinum and want to get my SID for shiny abusing, what's the fastest way to get one? Should I do chaining or just try randomly running into low-level pokes?... Also if I no longer have interest in my old copy of Diamond but I have my SID for that, any good reason to keep it? Other than shinies?

The fastest way would be to ask someone to check it for you in the Simple Requests thread. The next best method would be to chain several shiny Pokemon. I'd just ask someone to check it if I was you.

Knowing your SID really doesn't serve much purpose outside of RNG manipulation, so do as you like.

I suck at chaining - no joke.

I found my SID from a randomly caught pokemon when I first started the game, level 6 geodude on diamond ftw? And I recently caught a shiny whooper =P.

But... I think the fastest way is to just SR at a legendary pokemon and then find your SID with the stats. I will be trying this with my Platinum game when I get round to it =]

If you can reset every 30 seconds for a shiny legend it should still take you about 68 hours to encounter a shiny. Getting a chain of Shinx and 6 shiny Pokemon should really take no more than 5 or 6 hours, and that is if you are bad at chaining like me.

So, yeah.

Also, there is a new chaining guide that will be in the site's article library very soon.

Heh, wow. That's a lot of time, but not remotely as long as it took to get a shiny the old fashioned way. I'll try that if I can't find someone to check it for me through a trade ;P Thanks so much for the help guys!

mingot, has there been any research on how the RNG advances as a function of time because of NPC movements? Could be useful for RNG advancement in HGSS, where we might not have a journal to work with. Also for areas where we can't stop NPC movements.
