i'm interested in some help optimizing an EV-spread for a Curse-Tyranitar that I may use in a DP Battle Tower Team.
Tyranitar @ Leftovers
Careful - Sandstream
some EVs go here...
-Substitute
-Curse
-Payback
-Rest
Assume flawless IVs, what EV-spread would work best here? I'd like to be able to Sub at least 4 times, possibly 5 if it works? Also Subs can't be broken by Seismic Toss/Night Shade... Then balance the rest between defense and special defense to maximize defenses.
Thanks for anyone's help
Yes.Thanks mudkip... haze works through sub, doesn't it? anyone have the answer to that it isn't on the smogon move page
Is magnet rise baton passable? Shoddy doesn't allow it but bulbapedia says that is allowed. Thanks for your answer
Yup.Actually, it can.
Blissey gains Heal Bell in HGSS.
What type combination of 3 (also 4) damage moves hit many other types super effective?
Example: Starmie hits 9 types super effective when running it with Surf, Psycic, Ice Beam, T-bolt
Ok, I am using this dragonite:
248HP/216SP.def/44
Aside from speed, what should I put the 44 in? ATK or DEF?
Because Pidgeot's attack stat is a measly 80, and it only has a base speed of 91. It has some bulk, but not enough to really do much with. Pretty much, Game Freak try'd to give it a "jack of all trades, master of none" type spread, but they didn't give it a high enough BST to actually be able to pull something like that off, and it pretty much turned out lackluster in all areas as a result. Thus, Dodrio, Fearow, Swellow, and Staraptor pretty much all outclass it in some way or another as a Flying-type. In addition, there's nothing at all about Pidgeot that makes it stand out, unlike stuff like Staraptor having access to Close Combat or Swellow having Guts and very high speed, so it doesn't really offer much to make it stand out. Thus, there's just no real reason at all to use Pidgeot--regardless of what you're trying to do, something else most likely does it better. So, Pidgeot. Why is it considered bad? I can totally understand being outclassed by Staraptor and Swellow, who both have something awesome to utilize (Close Combat and Guts, respectively). However, I've read various times that Pidgeot is just a plain bad Pokemon. What is it exactly? Brave Bird and Double Edge are both great moves (though not legal together, currently), and has Steel Wing so it's not completely walled by Rocks. Pursuit and Quick Attack are pretty nice, too, not to mention it has some nice support moves. It's abilities do suck though, sadly.
So, while I can see Pidgeot being outclassed, calling it bad just seems like an overstatement, IMO.

Edit: Thought this was the UU thread for some reason. If we're talking OU here, then we also have stuff like Zapdos and Togekiss, who both have bulk that they can take advantage of, along with good offensive stats, and Skarmory, who has great Defense, can set up Spikes, and is actually neutral to Stealth Rock. When compared to them, Pidgeot just doesn't stand up.
