Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Hey does closing your DS for a while affect anything?

Not really. Some people hit their seed, do their flips and then close it and let it set till it turns to night or day, if they happen to not have a good spread for a certain poke that only appears during night or day.

Can Someone help Me With RNG

i get my seed i enter adamant nature click on the first result do the poketch taps

I do them put the parents in the daycare save get the egg and the eggs Nature is not adamant.

( i'm on Dppt International )

Yeah. You could just do it 3 times (once for parent A, once for parent B, and once for the final product) or if it's a poke that won't use it's Attack Stat, (or SAtk, whaetever) you could look for a spread that has 31s in pretty much everything else except the Atack Stat (which is how I usually do it).

Okay, I got my nature/ability/gender set, performed the Frame Calibration Phase, and selected a spread/time. Before I go ahead and start trying to hit my seed, I have a few questions...

1. How come I need to make sure the Journal comes up at the start of the game in the Frame Calibration Phase? Do I need to make sure this happens every time when SRing in attempt to hit my seed?

2. So there's no getting around performing the Frame Calibration Phase 4-5 times every single time I have a breeding project? What is different about each save that makes this necessary? I'm guessing it's the placement of the NPCs or something...

3. I heard someone say I could use the Daycare's Buneary to my advantage... can someone elaborate on that? I assume it would just be used as a rough way to tell the time between entering the game world and talking to the Daycare man (i.e. I usually get frame 8 if it took 1 step during that time of button mashing) since it doesn't affect the RNG itself as it moves in a fixed pattern, right?

4. Regarding this step...
2. Flip to a page where it says captured/defeated [Pokémon]. Do this three times to advance the frame from 6 to 12. No more, no less. Do not count the journal's initial appearance as a page flip. Each flip to a page with captured/defeated advances the frame by 2, so adjust accordingly based on your calibration frame and your target frame.
I don't understand this step... my most common frame from my calibration was 8 (4 of 5 eggs), so why would I want to set the frame to 12? Also, I thought the Frame Calibration Phase showed me that the frame advancement was taken care of entirely by NPCs, not by Journal flips...

Thank you to anyone who is able to help me!

1. This will insure that your frame in calibration will stay the same when you are SRing for your seed. If you save and the journal doesn't come up, chances are your frame will be something totally different. This problem is solved by making sure the journal pops up in calibration and when you start to SR.
2. Correct. When you save the NPCs are at a different point in their movements, thus giving you different frames.
3. Sometimes you can tell which frame you're going to get when the buneary's ear is at a certain place on the fencepost. It's not a very reliable way to go by though, just calibrate and try to do the same thing every time and be consistent.
4. That was probably just an example. If your frame is 8, you can choose a spread on any even frame at 8 and after (10, 12, 14, etc.) and just do the corresponding number of journal flips before closing the journal and taking the egg. This makes it easier to find a good spread, because sometimes if your parents aren't so good, finding a flawless spread on the frame you calibrated isn't very easy.

Hope that helped :)

The directions are in the context of an example where your calibration frame was 6 and your target frame was 12 ...

I have a question. When SRing in Emerald for eggs, do you start your timer when you hit A+B+Start+Select or when you hit continue, because I've been starting it when I hit A+B+Start+Select and the times I've been getting are a good 4 seconds off my target time. Thanks for your help!

Thanks a lot, riddlinkid and mingot.

You start it as soon as you hit A+B+Start+Select. Are you accounting for the time it takes to use Sweet Scent or the animation/sounds showed upon interacting with the Pokémon (if any)? The emloop/RNG Reporter times are from the moment you SR to the moment the battle actually begins (where the screen flashes).

Thanks, I'm breeding, not capturing, but I found something in Emloop that was accounting for the 4 seconds. I realized that it was actually counting down 4.5 seconds too little. I'm trying again now and hopefully getting something closer.

EDIT: My latest try after fixing the time on Emloop yielded a result of 1 second off my target time. I think that might have been due to a problem in hitting start on Emloop and resetting at the exact same time.

Ok this is the scenario: I have a frame of 876 from an Adamant Regigigas in Snowpoint Temple. I calculated that I have to do 436 journal flips. The first time I did this I walked up once to Regigigas and got Lax. According to the reporter, it says Lax has a frame of 877. Then I just did the journal flips while being right infront of Regigigas, which gave me a Naughty nature. According to the Reporter, Naughty has a frame of 875. I'm kind of lost here with this one because either way, I'm not getting that 876 frame.

Did you generate your spread with Method J, or Method 1? When I was new to RNG (and just happened to do gigas first) I did it backwards. :?

Well, I tend to ask the easy question first! XD

...hmmm...1 too high, then one too low... Monster frame of one, and I assume you have 2 roamers from looking at your initial math...(436*2+1+1+2=876)...
First time you saved 1 step away to advance by 1, did 436 flips to get you to 875 and took a step forward to get to 876, but ended up with 877...Next time took a step forward, did everything right and ended up with 875...

Remember how the OP says that the game saves the amount of steps you take? It may be that you are saved at like step 127 and that when you take a step forward it advances by 1 for walking where there are wild pokes and also by 1 for crossing another 128 steps "milestone". I "sort of" did this while catching Mespirit. I took 129 steps to get to him and it was 1 too high. I was like, "Nah, I only took 129 steps (my counter was out)" so i couldn't have went too many, but I was more careful the next time and did exactly 128 and it worked right that time. I'd suggest taking 10 or so steps and then resaving in front of Gigas, and then trying what you tried before again, since it might possiblyhave been your step count...maybe...

[edit]
wait, but that would mean you only had one poke in your party, so... maybe not... :?

I've been helping him, and the first time he did it he used a turn, not a step. Since he went 1 frame over consistently, I told him to just eliminate the turn, figuring I calculated wrong somehow. When he did that he got 1 frame before his target, a difference of two frames.
