Very Successful OU Team

Hi, first off i want to make it clear that the idea of this team came from
http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=62192
who posted it around a week ago. I tried out his team and found it worked beautifully in OU and was sad to see it get locked so quickly. So here it is, a 20-6 OU team:

In Depth:

--------------------

The Lead

482xe8.png

Azelf @ Focus Sash
Naive 252spe / 252sp. atk / 6atk
Levitate
-Fire Blast
-Taunt
-Stealth Rock
-Explosion

Azelf is a great lead for 3 reasons; Taunt, Stealth Rock, and Explosion. Simply taunt an enemy that will set up, get stealth rocks up and go out with a bang. Fire Blast is there for reliable damage and thru experience with this team is the more reliable move, as my oppenent will switch into a Ghost to take the Explosion, only to get smacked in the face with a fire blast. Taunt is very valuable to this team as 2 of my guys are weak to it, and Azelf is the right guy to do it.

The Specially Bulky Attacker

068bd3.png

Machamp @Leftovers
Carefull 252hp/ 80atk / 176sp def
No Guard
-Dynamic Punch
-Payback
-Stone Edge
-Bulk Up

Bulky up Machamp is a force to be reckoned with. With all around great stats, Machamp can easily take two hits or more. The specially defense ev's allow me to easily take a Draco Meteor and destroy the shocked opponent. Dynamic Punch, Payback and Stone Edge are all pretty standard for Champ, but bulk up is what makes him shine. After 2 or 3 bulk ups i can take any hit thrown at me and return with a punch. Champ's role in this team is to be a sturdy specially wall and an answer for Bliss, Cress, and Latias and he fulfills it %90 of the time.

The Physical Dancer

130rt4.png

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Impish 216hp /64atk /184def/44spe
-Taunt
-Waterfall
-Stone Edge
-Dragon Dance

BulkyGyara is the powerhouse of this team usually killing off two or more guys half the time. Taunt is great for stopping walls who try to cripple me and Dragon Dance leads to amazing sweeps. Waterfall and Stone Edge are there for great type coverage. Gyara is my counter for Infernape and Heatran as they can't even touch Gyarados, letting me get off a free Dance. The def ev's allow me to take a good hit after SR damage and the speed ev's let me outspeed some bulkier things, but after a few D.D's im pretty much unstoppable.

The Revenge Killer

385ll6.png

Jirachi @Choice Scarf
Jolly, 6hp /252atk /252spe
-Thunderpunch
-Fire Punch
-Ice Punch
-Iron Head

Ahh Jirachi. How damn annoying you are! Iron Head lets me flinch to death anything that isnt weak enough to be killed by one of the punches or just ins't weak to any of them. The 3 Elemental punches ensure me that i can revenge anything from Dragonite or Scizor, to Gyarados and Salamence. Jolly nature and max speed lets me revenge anything that isnt faster and scarfed.

The Mixed Menace

373ys1.png

Salamence @Life Orb
Naive, 84atk/216spAtk/208Spe
-Fire Blast
-Draco Meteor
-Earthquake
-Dragon Claw/Outrage

NewMixmence. What a train wreck. This thing can easily come in on anything slower than it and KO it without fear. Skarmory, Blissey, Metagross, Latias BEWARE! Draco Meteor is Salamence's new 4th gen toy and boy does it wreak havoc. It can easily KO anything that doesnt resist or have SOME kind of sp. def investment. Fire Blast is for Skarmory and Metagross who are more defensively based and Earthquake is for power physical damage. Now, with the last slot, im unsure weather to use Dragon Claw or Outrage. So far iv'e had outrage and found myself using Salamence more early game and afraid to use outrage. Dragon Claw might provide the right amount of Physical damage i need without leaving me as a sitting duck to steel-types. But again, im just not sure

The Zippy Special Attacker

zapdos.jpg

Zapdos @Leftovers
Modest 4hp/ 252spAtk/ 252Spe
-Thunderbolt
-Heat Wave
-Hidden Power (Grass)
-Roost

In the original post, this slot belonged to Magnezone with a "GyaraZone" combo. I can see the potential of this idea, but sadly it doesn't work out. Magnezone's slow speed never allowed me to do anything against the oppenent, and steel-types were never a worry. He used Zone as a counter to swampert, with HPgrass, but i found out that at Max HP Pert can actually Survive. And with all the weaknesses of Zone he would die quite easily.

So thats why the spot has gone to Zapdos! Im still unsure about this last spot but I know I needed a Swampert check and a reliable Sp. Atker. Full out offensive Zapdos seems to work, with Thunderbolt and Heat Wave giving me a large scope of coverage. HPgrass, like i said, is there for Swampert who my team cannot efficiently handle. roost is for regaining HP

So that's the team!
Plz tell me what you think and rate it. And again all credit of this team goes to SlowPokez, I am merely trying to further his idea.

It may be my first post, but I've been into competitive for a while. This is actually a new account I made because I forgot my old one...Onto my thoughts.

Overall, your team is well rounded, and all I can really do is help you decide on the Salamence dillema, since I'm a wide user of Salamence. Personally, I choose Outrage because the power is well worth it, but then I would have him paired with Magnezone to kill steels, which you got rid of for Zapdos. If accuracy isn't a deterrance (which it is for me) Dragon Rush might be an acceptable alternative. I just find Salamence running Dragon Claw easy to kill because the power of the STAB is lacking.

For your sake and the sake of this team, Dragon Claw is probably your safest bet.

Hi,

I'd recommend changing one of the elemental punches on Jirachi in favor of U-turn. U-turn is basically a must, as it scouts any of Jirachi's possible counters with priority, and could possibly save you from a steel killer like Magnezone.

Overall, a nicely built team. And btw, I'd go with Outrage on Mence, I've used mixmence before and almost nothing can take two hits off STABbed 120 base power.

well since this is my team exactly just with a poorer choice of zapdos > magnezone i might as well justify some choices on some pokemon.

Outrage is needed on mence to OHKO most blissey which take usually less then 50% from an EQ which means they can outstall you with toxic/wish/protect.

U-turn is not a must, but i can admit that it might be a good choice over ice punch as with iron head you can still do at least 50% to mence and 2HKO seeing as how you will most likely get flinch hax.

Thunderpunch/fire punch are needed on rachi to revenge kill SD luke and DDgyara though.

Getting rid of magnezone was a poor choice as the team is left with only one steel then which means you have only jirachi taking dragon attacks and it's not even a bulky set.

On my personal version of this team i did more work on it and replaced machamp with lucario which has done much better though.

bump....i would really like some insight on my team
Really...
----------

As far as jirachi goes I would always run trick on it simply because its such a helpful move. I would lose the punch you need the least for the team and go with trick.

Again, like the guy who made the team said, jirachi being the only thing to take a dragon attack isn't going to go too well.

Scarf latias looks like it could be a nightmare for your team to handle... though it only can come in safely a couple places besides switching in after a ko.

First Off,
wow i love how this kid copied your team EXACTLY and switched one poke how epic is the rmt section?

I never claimed this to be my team, and the only reason i copied it in the first place was to test it, and after multiple battles i grew to favor this team over others. The reason for switching zone was because he didnt really do anything for me in battles.

Okay second,

U-turn is a good suggestion but Jirachi is mainly there for revenge killing and if a zone does end up switching in i'd be locked into something else anyhow, but i will definitely think about it

Sorry about that i do not take any credit for this team whatsoever.
The Zapdos was put in as a filler because i really wanted to switch Zone out for something more suitable. As i said im open to suggestions.
