Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Can someone list for me the most common ways to advance frames in HGSS?

I've got this beautiful bold shiny spread(29/25/31/30/31/30) and would like to use it on Lugia and the Wondercard Mew.

I guess everything else about RNG is the same with DPPt.

Basically trial and error, each seed seems to react differently, I like to use sweet scent to confirm my seed, then sweet scent a few more times and see how far you have advanced, then you can use the DPPt methods like walking 128 steps to advance by the number in your party, or repel and walk in an area with wild pokemon. There is also a way to use the radio but i find its a little to tempermental for me so I don't bother with it

Plain ol' delay question: is soft resetting absolutely necessary, or can one merely press A from the DS main screen at the time one would normally SR? Does entering the game cold significantly alter the way that the game loads compared to SRing?

No, I never SR my game when abusing RNG. You just need to know your typical delay and time in seconds when doing it this way. I normally watch the second hand until it hits 15 secs, then start the game and by the time I've started I've hit a seed on xx:xx:30 and my typical delay range

I recommend doing the cold start. I've noticed it's a lot easier to get consistent seconds that way.

You could do, I believe loading that way will be the same delay but a different amount of seconds.

I personall with DSi. Set the time then go as fast as I can back to Menu and then go into the game. I normally hit 14 secs if I SR but I hit 24 Secs if I use my method. It takes about 8-9 seconds for me to go from time -> select game.

I believe it takes 15-16 seconds from the time you select on the game to entering the game. However if you're using DS Lite/DS, it'll still be 15-16 seconds to get into the game but your seconds value will be different. The delay will be the same though.

@Nida - You can, but your delay/seconds may be slightly off until you get used to the timing.

@pastel - What is your average delay range from your initial calibration? You can hit any delay you like above about 590 or so in DPPt, you just need to adjust the time you wait on the continue screen. The delay starts running from the white screen that appears when you reset all the way up until you enter the game, but you should know all this already if you've read the first post/on-site guide.

I don't know why you need to adjust your year at all either =/

I personally like Cold Starting better. It's easier to hit the seconds in my opinion. But I also use AR, and whenever you SR, the codes won't work so it makes it harder for me to check my frame/delay without IV Check.

Normally I cold start, but I kinda assumed everyone SRed. :P I've been having a lot of trouble hitting the target seed, even with PikaTimer, so I'm getting discouraged; I'm wondering if there's something I'm missing.

Seems that i'll have to try i myself then.

Also,Wondercards are method K or 1 ???

Because my previous question wasn't answered properly, I'm going to ask something else: How do you RNG in HG/SS? I am planning on making shiny eggs in the daycare and SR-ing for decent IV's. If anyone knows how to do it please let me know.

For eggs? It's similar to how you do it in DPPt, except:

- no coin flip, so you have to catch a Pokemon to figure out your seed, then hatch\eggs manually until you know the man is holding a shiny egg.

- Fewer moving NPCs to worry about. I often found myself landing consistently on frame 3. There's no journal flips, so you have to press Start really quickly if you want to try to use radio detuning (just search the forums for it) to advance the frame a little.

- There are some oddities. Sometimes the egg IVs behave like the "split spreads" in Emerald, and other times the egg IVs were exactly the same as something in the list, except they were off by 1 IV (e.g. the RNG Reporter list said 31\18\29\30\31\31, the actual results were 31\17\29\30\31\31). But only rarely.

well my usual delay is 780 (13 seconds), but i want to know how to make the delays bigger because i dont find any surpasing the 700s.

How do you have a delay of 780 with 13 second? I can tell you're confused between delay and time. What you're doing is saying that since it takes you 13 seconds to enter game world, times 60 per second gives around 780. Do you have the RNG Reporter? If so, PM me and I'll help you find your delay.

Do the NPCs in the town but outside the pokemart effect frame aswell? Because both times I've checked my frame they've been off by over 10, and I'm just using the 1 NPC to advance the frame once to get me an even one. I'm aiming for 116 (open the journal(2)+Monster Frame(1)+Page Flip x56(112)+NPC Movement(1)=116. So how have I gotten 125 and 129?

I'm doing this in Sunny Shore btw, and I'm abusing my Arcues Wondercard.

By hatching eggs manually until you know the man is holding a shiny one, how many eggs on average might it take? Or does it depends on the seed (is there a ratio from amt of coin flips/happiness app taps required to how many eggs hatched to how many eggs you need to hatch)?

Zowayix: For 3rd gen, it involves letting the RNG advance on fast-forward (because it can take months to get to a certain frame normally), and using savestates to pause it at certain points because you don't want to start all over again.

For 4th gen, savestates give you the benefit of not having to hit the same seed over and over again if you screw up advancing the frames.

I use MinusOne's ShinyFinder. Try to find times that say -1 for taps, and get as low a flip count as you can. For those, the number of times you will need to go through eggs is 10 + flips. That's the number of eggs you will have to collect\reject from the Daycare Man before he's holding your shiny egg.

The 10 is because ShinyFinder (and RNG Reporter) assumes that you will be doing 10 coin flips to verify your seed, which you can't do anyway.

Oh okay, thank you :)
Is there a link you could post to his ShinyFinder?

I haven't read through this whole thread, only the OP, so excuse me if this has been asked on beforehand.

For hatching a Shiny Pokémon, I have to catch a Pokémon around level 50. But what if I catch a Pokémon at level, say, 20 and check the IVs via the IV check code (to get the exact IVs), would I have the same results?
