I am making a hail-stall team for OU and I want my core to consist of Walrein, Frosslas, and Abomasnow, but I am worried that Froslass will be a weakpoint...

Is she usable at all as a spiker/snowcloak abuser in OU Hail? Are three ice types too many? Is Froslass one of the worse ones? Would I do better with Weavile, Glaceon, Lapras, or Mamoswine? Thanks!

3 ice types can be used on the same team as long as your other team members can cover fire, fight, steel and rock attcks. Standard hail stall teams usually pack Pokemon like Gliscor, Tentacruel, Heatran as they help to check things like TTar, Scizor, Infernape and so on.

Froslass can be used as a spiker but requires a good amount of predictions as you need to play her by abusing the immunities granted by the ghost typing, as her defences are mediocre at best. You might also use her as a suicide lead, but usually that's not a good idea on a stall team.

Weavile and Mamo serve different roles than Froslass, but they're of course viable. Glaceon and Lapras are NU for a reason, there are better choices in OU.

So this is the correct place to post this... I see it now... :)

I was looking into certain pokemon for my team and realized that one of my prospective pokemon can learn a move only through purification. Now, what I'm wanting to know is if I get the game and purify said pokemon will I be able to transfer that pokemon from pokemon XD to pokemon fire red and then be able to transfer that to generation 4 or higher?

What's more, the pokemon in question has two possible abilities, will I be able to see which ability it will have or will it be randomly generated when it gets to the newer generations?

I'm asking because it would be quite a bit of work to set this up for me to actually get this pokemon with this nature and this move and before I go through the process, I was hoping someone would know.

Thanks in advanced!

I want to use Salamence as a mixed sweeper to challenge the battle tower
Item: Life orb
Flamethrower
Dragon pulse
Crunch
Earthquake
Do you think that this moveset is fine? (I don't want attacks with less than perfect accuracy, because I hate to miss)
And for the nature, I want a +speed one...should I reduce defense or special defense?

What are some good team-mates for Scizor, Gyarados and Dragonite?

i think heatran is a good partner, taking the fie attacks aimed a scizor and the steel attacks aimed a dragonite. I used a heatran with those three pokemon in one of my teams and i gave it a scarf to help it outrun certain threats.

Yeah, you will be able to purify it and trade it to DPPt.

If the Pokemon in question (feel free to tell us what it is, we could save you time telling if it's viable or not) can evolve, its ability has the chance to change upon migrating to DPPt and evolving (this depends on whether its PID is assigned a 1 or 0 for its ability); if it's fully evolved, tough luck.

So if I'm posting a UU team for RMT, can I put a small threat list? Because there's not a set one for offensive and defensive. I only have 3 pokes on it, but it makes sense for my RMT that I'm gonna post

Threat lists are not obligatory, they just make easier for team raters to check for your team problems. Of course you can post a reduced threat list if you wish.

Walrein (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Ice Body
EVs: 220 HP/240 Def/48 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Protect
- Brine
- Super Fang

Does this need any Sp.Atk evs/ modest nature for Brine to work well? Because I already bred a flawless Bold Walrein.

No, I don't really think it does. Assuming SR and you having used Super Fang once, with hail damage, it seems to generally either reach or get nowhere near to the required damage mark.

With some investment, you can OHKO Infernape with it after SR and Hail. Some invesment would also help against some variants of Jirachi and Metagross, and against Swampert if you are without Toxic spikes support

The question really seems to be whether you still need the speed, and I think that you do. Skarmory is one major target for the speed invesment. If you were to remove the speed, then Skarmory can Roost ahead of your Brine and take only about 25% damage, then Phaze you out.

If need be, you can still run the old stallrein set, which, in my opinion, is more effective anyway.

Edit: actually, can someone check this. These are difficult calcs even with a damage calculator, so I may have done some wrong. In reality, this isn't a very simple question to answer

Yes

A Pokemon's data includes a single bit, which is 0 for first ability, 1 for second. If the Pokemon has only 1 ability in the game it is in, it of course gets that, but the bit can be either 0 or 1.
A Pokemon also, however, has data explicitly specifying the ability.
The explicit specification is rewritten based on the ability bit upon evolution, and not when Pal Parking.

Thus, say we have a Shroomish in Gen 3. Its ability is Effect Spore, and its ability bit may be either 0 or 1.
If we Pal Park it, its ability is still Effect Spore, since it is explicitly stored as such.
If we then evolve it in Platinum, then if it's ability bit is 1, it changes ability to Poison Heal.
If instead, we had evolved the Shroomish into Breloom in the third gen game, its ability would remain Effect Spore after Pal Parking and then no matter what.

Short conclusion: Pal Parking does not change ability. Evolution afterwards in the 4th gen game has a 50% chance of changing to a new ability if the Pokemon received one. To avoid that change, fully evolve the Pokemon in the third gen. If the Pokemon is received fully-evolved, then it can never get its 4th-gen only ability.

A Pokemon holding Exp Share gets the full amount of EVs given by the wild Pokemon. EVs will be doubled by their own Pokerus (Pokerus of other battling Pokemon is not relevant). They will not get EVs from the battling Pokemon's Power Item, or the doubling if the battling Pokemon has a Macho Brace.
IVs can be inherited from either parent.

thank you very much for clearing that up; and for that matter: can everstone increase the chances of passing IVs?

The forum search is broken, I get the following error

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 16777216 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 8 bytes) in /var/www/smogon/public/forums/search.php on line 1011

when trying to search for "breeding system". Hopefully someone reading this knows who to contact, because I've forgotten who the admins are.

@shuckles: there was a thread about it, entitled 'new breeding system' or something like that. Obviously I tried to find it and failed.

no just nature but apparently in heartgold and soulsilver the power items will pass on certain ivs. can anyone confirm this for me?

This is confirmed. For instance, I have been breeding several pokemon from the same parents, and the father has a Power Anklet; they all are born with the exaxt same speed. This would be the same for all the other power items.

Awesome, thank you so much for the info. This is really helpful. Now if only getting the game, a working GBA and connector cable was easier.
