I asked a few posts before but nobody answered me... Just one more time: When are you able to trade pokemon from DPPt to HG/SS?

Hacked Pokemon

I have a question. If one used an AR to get, for example rare candies, and these were then used to up the PKMN level, would this be a hacked pokemon?
Thanks
GS

great, thanks and apologies for the mix-up. Can i also ask where/how i would enter competitive battles (i guess there may be a thread on smogon somewhere amongst the myriad created)?

I've seen the term RNG flying around everywhere in multiple game forums, including this one. For the longest time, I had no idea what this meant, so I did a Google search. It means Random Number Generator.

What? Now I am even more confused! What does random number generation have to do with pokemon, other than determining things like damage rolls and critical hits? Why does the knowledge of it pose so valuable to players? What does "cracking" the RNG mean? I'm pretty sure RNG is referenced extensively in breeding. Why? How can I utilize RNG to my advantage? After all, they are random numbers, seemingly out of my control.

RNG Information can be found here.

Pretty much all computer programs that require a "random" proces require a random number generator of some sort. This is because it's impossible to create something truely random in computers, since nothing is actually random - it can be put down to some input. This generator will usually create a sequence of numbers at high speeds and pick one at a point in time.

The RNG in pokemon games will help decide any seemingly random factors. These are most evidently seen in battles, but in reality anything that is seen as "random" in the games is decided by the RNG.
For people who want to get perfect IV's on a pokemon, usually a random process? They crack the RNG.
For People who really want a shiny pokemon, which has incredibly rare chances? They crack the RNG.

I would point you towards one of the RNG threads round here, but I myself see using the RNG as too long a process to even consider messing around with it, and am content with shoddy =)

Can't wait to buy Gold or Silver.

Should I buy Diamond, Pearl or Platinum? I would like to one day play semi-pvp, but I wonder if I can just trade for what I need?

If you want to get your own of certain legendaries, buy Platinum. (With Diamond or Pearl you miss out on one of the dragon trio, and Platinum also gives you an extra shot at the legendary birds).
If you want to duplicate your Pokemon - very useful if you're going to do trading - without using a cheating device or program, buy Diamond or Pearl. You cannot duplicate Pokemon in Platinum (unless you use a cheating device or program).
If you want a game to trade stuff across to so you can restart your other games, buy any.
If you want another game to play through the plot of, buy any.

No, but you need to first connect to the Shoddy server, and then make a NEW team - if you edit an existing team, the moves don't appear. (You can use the 'box' feature to easily transfer Pokemon from your existing to your new team.)

If you're trying to edit an old team you won't be able to give it to it. Try making a new team and you shouldn't have problems.

If you're trying to make it under the "Standard Metagame" server, it won't work. You have to do it with a HGSS compatible server, like Smogon University.

Will the defensive spikes set work with this Froslass ( Timid: 248 HP/228 Def/32 Speed), despite the low special D? This is the best I've gotten in awhile... considering I don't RNG abuse or use an AR. Could this work well for my hail team on Wi-Fi?
