Anyone have any tips to break the record in Pennant Capture? I have tried for around 2 hours to break this damn record to get the star for my trainer card but can't seem to come close.

is Synthesis a good move idea for my Bayleef/Meganium? I love being able to heal up with a move my Pokemon has.. but I need some attacking room also.

Is Synthesis pointless since I can just use Potions, etc anyways?

I think its a good move, as with level up moves, you will only be able to achieve a certain amount of coverage as it is. 2 normal moves are hardly helpful, if both have the same-ish base power. there is rarely a time where both hydro pump and surf are both useful. So, ya, its a good move, unless you have a better coverage move you can use.

Hey -- could someone help me out with this? Nothing to do with HGSS, but I was looking at this DPP RNG guide for the first time. Have no idea how to find my SID... do you think someone here (or on the trades forum) who has a flashcart or whatever could tell it to me from looking at a regular pokemon I have? I've never caught a shiny myself, let alone chained 4 to 8, but apparently you need the SID to work with the RNG program...

Help very very very very very much appreciated!!!

Since no one has figured out how to rng abuse is HG an SS yet ( I think.. ) what should I do with the legendary Pokemon? So far I have avoided contact with them all and defeated Lugia so that he can reappear again after I beat the elite four, which I did.
Would it be wise to wait for someone to post about how to rng abuse in HG SS or what? I have even avoided trading over Arceus for my level one Palkai/Dialga/Giratina because I want to get one with good IV's : /

You only need your SID if you want to breed/capture shiny pokemon. If you are content with non-shinies, then you can still RNG for perfect IVs. Someone should be able to help your find your SID if you post in the Simple Requests thread in the Wifi board.

It said in the guide that it didn't matter if you have to fly to the daycare.

OK, thanks. Once I've got the egg, it doesn't matter if I go in my box and get a Magmortar (For Flame Body)?

EDIT: When I calculate the Pokétech apps, it says I need 0 coin flips. Do I still go on the coin flip application, or not?

Should Rotom-Formes ever be allowed to use in the first place since they are not allowed on any Wifi battle? Isn't the purpose of Shoddy to simulate as much of the real battle as possible, meaning things such as Giratina-O, Shaymin-S, and Rotom-Formes should be excluded in the first place? HGSS still doesn't allow these special forms to be use on wifi--even between HGSS and Platinum. I'm guessing that getting rid of these pokemons will cause too much of a stir-up in the current tier since too much of the work has already been done without this consideration?

It seems that the Wifi-tier will be so much vastly different without the rotom-formes to scare off Scizor (SD in particular), Lucario, Gyarados, Starmie, Forretress, Blissey (losing to SubCharge), and etc.

Shoddy Battle simulates link battles (direct DS-to-DS connection, and not Wi-Fi), where they are indeed usable, and thus why they are allowed.

Thanks for the confirmation. I haven't played the hand-held console version for so long, but I'm guessing the link battle is upstair in Pokemon Center? Thanks for the information again, as now I'm glad to not have to get rid of my rotom-formes.

Edit: Okay, I have just found out that those special forms can only be used in the "Pokemon Communication Club Colosseum", which is upstair in Pokemon Center (on the farthest right). But say, how far or how close does the two DS has to be in order for the battle to work?

Edit2: I'm guessing 8 yards.

Edit3: Wow, I didn't know that these special forms can be used against people with DP, but their special form sprites will not be visible to the DP player. The good news is that their stats, boosts, and abilities are kept, while the DP player may not realize they are battling the special forms. I guess it could have been considered an unfair advantage unless you're sportsman enough to tell the DP player.

There is a, probably outdated, guide on this site about how WiFi differs from Shoddy.

Some people do use AR to take Formes into Wi-Fi battles. Generally you're expected to tell your opponent you do so - people tend to put it permanently in their sigs (and other people put 'no Rotom forms') to avoid giving away the presence of them if you mentioned it before a single battle. Whether sprites show properly when those codes are used I don't know.

Once Lati@s, Raikou and Entei are released into the wild in HGSS, am I right that I can't change their IV's nature anymore? Or did they change that?

Their spreads are set upon release. The only way they could be changed is if they can be re-released if you KO them. I do not know if they can be.

Serebii lists the amulet coin's location in HGSS as Goldenrod, but how does one get it? Presumably it's a gift, but when I went through I'm sure I talked to everyone and I didn't receive it.

Does the game auto-save after beating the E4? Asking because that would affect RNGing for Raikou/Entei afterwards, right?

How far are you into the game? Without revealing any plot spoilers, it's obtained in a certain part of Goldenrod that's not accessible until certain plot elements come into play.

It's laying somewhere in the basement level of the Goldenrod Department Store that is accessible during or after the rescue of Radio Tower's Director.

Edit: Oops, I guess that might have spoiled the plot, but at least you should know it's in the basement of the Goldenrod Department Store.

You find it underground after Team Rocket takes over the Radio Tower later in the game.

I'm almost certain I got it after exiting the underground warehouse that you rescue the director from during the Team Rocket Radio Tower arc. You start it after you get your seventh badge. If you go to the B1F of the Goldenrod Department Store and head right you should see it behind a locked door.

Edit:

I haven't gotten there yet but I would assume so since it does in every other game. I don't see how you could go back to the title screen and keep your file without doing that.

Edit2:

Does OU Latias ever use Mist Ball/Psychic?

Why would Latias need Psychic when it already has the best STAB in the game? All Latias needs is a Dragon move (Dragon Pulse/Draco Meteor), somehting to hit Steels (usually Surf), and something to hit anything that can take the other two attacks (usually Thunderbolt to hit Suicune and Empoleon). Also, Choiced Psychic is a bad idea because it just makes you Pursuit bait for Tyranitar, Scizor, and Weavile.

No. You're better off looking for shadow punch gengar.

I have 2 questions.

1. Do Entei+Raikou etc... all respawn every time you beat the E4? Or just once?

2. Is Mareep/Flaffy/Ampharos the best companion to Cyndaqui/Quilava/Typhlosion only using two pokemon throughout the adventure?
