so i ev trained my starmie from awhile back, but i lost my list on ev training so I have no idea how many i put into starmie. But i did however remember I only ev trained sp. attack, just don't know by how many. So i gave it calcium and carbos. gave 10 carbos and only gave 9 calcium because it wouldn't accept another. now does this mean I maxed out in sp. attack? maybe because calcium goes by 10 and can't exceed over that much so maybe i needed 5 more only and it wouldn't accept it. So what I did, I worked on speed first, and HP a little and went to sp. attack. I'm guessing out of the dark. I don't mind battling until i get the proper amount, or should i stop because of the 9 calcium it can only take.

I'm a little confused by your question. Are you asking if your Starmie has maximum possible special attack EVs because it wouldn't accept any more carbos? I believe they will only take EV-raising items like carbos up to 100 EVs. So I believe what happened is that you had 10 points worth of special attack EVs, then the 9 carbos made 100. You'll still need to train it yourself to get it the last 152.

Actually, a question related to that one: Does anyone know what would happen if I tried to give a protein to a Pokemon with, say, 96 attack EVs? Would it refuse to take it, or would it eat it and only count for 4 EVs?

The Protein would work and raise the Attack EV to 100: "The stat enhancers ... increase the EVs of the respective stat by 10, but not to more than 100. Each stat enhancer only takes effect if the EV for that stat is less than 100."

Ah, thanks - probably a waste of money, though.

So in my SS game, I'm getting ready to take the plunge into the first Kanto routes and Victory Road. I've been shuffling around my team a bit, so everybody is a bit underleveled, and things still just don't feel right to me.

I'm confident that I definitely want to use the following long-term: Crobat (my beloved, knows Fly *shudder*, Cross Poison, Confuse Ray and Bite), Mamoswine (Ice Shard, Ice Fang, EQ and Strength) and Starmie (Surf, Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, Recover). I'm reasonably confident in my Pupitar and Heracross, but I'm not sure what to do with their movesets. Pupitar should learn Crunch and -maybe- EQ by the time I take on the Elite Four, but I'm not sure what else to give him. Dragon Claw? Thrash and Rock Slide work okay, and he has them now. Heracross has Brick Break, Aerial Ace and Horn Attack - what would work well in the last spot?

And finally, my last spot is somewhat iffy. I was thinking about bringing my Dratini, but I can't decide if I'd want to bring the Mild Mixnite-to-be I've been training (only level 27, though) or the new Adamant ExtremeSpeed Dratini (level 15, needs lots of work). Mixtini would need to learn Flamethrower, I guess. Alternatively, I have a Ninetales that could toast quite a few things, but I'm loathe to teach her Shadow Ball as she's a she and won't be able to pass it on if I decide someone else needs it later. My other option is to evolve Timid Eevee into a Espeon and run Shadow Ball/Psybeam/something else - I'd like to have someone that can use a psychic move on the team, and Starmie won't do with no TM. I'm just cringing at the thought of training it up from level 6, and also I realized it can't learn Flamethrower, which is a major bummer.

Anyway, I'm sorry this question was so long! In short, I'm hoping for the following advice:
1) What physical move would best fill out Pupitar's moveset in the level 40-50s? Is Dragon Claw a good choice if I have no other Dragon-type users on the team?
2) Same question in regards to Heracross.
3) Who would you recommend for my last spot? Ninetales, with Flamethrower and -maybe- Shadow Ball? Mixtini with Flamethrower, Twister, Waterfall and Thunderwave? ExtremeSpeed Dratini with Waterfall, ExtremeSpeed, Thunder Wave and a fourth move (Dragon Claw, maybe?). Espeon with Psybeam/Shadow Ball/??? Or something else entirely (*sigh*)?

interesting thanks for the advice. So i'm guessing i raised my EV to 94 and wouldn't accept because its it doesn't fit in the 10 slot. I wish i had everything recorded so i wouldn't be this confused.

Is there a fast way to level up a Pokemon besides using Rare Candy? Is a Pokemon considered hacked if I only change its level to 100 in Pokesav?

Red gyarados soft reset:

Gyarados - #130 (Serious): 30 - 31 / 30 - 31 / 16 - 18 / 27 - 29 / 31 / 28 - 31

Stupid neutral nature, but are the IV's good enough to go with it? But maybe for a bulky or sleeptalk set...

(I'm SR-ing not RNG-abusing)

I didn't got answered in my previous questions, so I ask once again

Is the RNG in Sapphire/Ruby the same as Emerald? I saw some videos of RNGing in Emerald, but a friend is selling his Ruby and Sapphire games, so, I want to know if is worth to buy one of them for RNG.

For generation 4 (D P Pt HG SS), which are the maximum EVs available for a Level 20 trained pokemon for competitive battles if I want to improve two stats??

Thanks in advice.

iirc, the ruby/sapphire RNG was mever cracked. the second question is easy to work out for yourself, just go on shoddy and make a new team with lv 20 pokemon, start at 252 and go down until it changes.

The RS RNG is like the Emerald one, except it seeds based on the real time clock - until the cartridge battery runs out. Once the cartridge battery is flat, it behaves exactly like Emerald. Hence why no-one bothered doing any RS specific work.

That depends entirely on Nature and what you don't mind reducing.
The strongest HP Ice is at 31/30/30/31/31/31, so adjust whatever else you don't mind reducing in Shoddy until 'IVs' stops being red.

I just did a trade on the GTS that I am SURE was from Australia (I'm from the U.S.), but the game is apparently not recognizing that fact and unlocking Beyond the Sea. Does anyone know what's happening? I want a Remoraid:(

Are there any unique pokemon (legendaries, red Gyarados ect.) that wont respawn after beating the elite 4, if not captured, and will these pokemon respawn each time the elite 4 is killed, if not captured?

It could well have been a U.S. Game in Australia, or even a U.S. Pokémon traded into that Australian game.
If that's not the case, then I think it may be something to do that the Pokémon itself has to have a different language coded into its Hex (all Pokémon are classfied as either ENG, JPN, ITA, SPA, FRA, GER, KOR, so an Australian one would still be ENG as would a U.S.)

Hi, a couple of quick Soul Silver questions:

1. I have met Entei and Raikou multiple times and I have learned they are Impish and Bold respectively. The IV's sucked both time I caught them so I shut off the game. Are the IV's set? I know the natures are but I'm unsure about the IV's. If I faint them will they respawn? With new IV's?

2. About Daisy's daily massage: when she maxes out beauty, does it count against your sheen?

Thanks

1. It probably is the fastest, but one of the worst ways, as you lose your EVs.
2. I think it would be "legally hacked".

1. Entei and Raikou's nature/IVs are set when you first encounter them in that cave thing.

Their IVs and natures are generated when you released them in the tower. If you faint them, they will respawn after you beat the E4 with new IVs and natures.

Edit: Beaten ><

Question about the pokéwalker. Do the required steps for rarer pokémon need to be gotten in a single day, or can you acquire them over a period of days, without returning back to the game?

Hmmm....I've already beaten the E4 three times. Will it work if I faint them and beat the E4 again?

Thanks

Oh, and the pokewalker resets to 0 steps each day. You get to keep any watts earned, however.

Yup, kill them both off, and then go beat the E4. They should now be roaming again with a new nature and IV spread. If you're not trying to RNG them, you'll hopefully have some new ones. :P

MM didnt, want to make a whole new thread for this, so ill ask here if ok

I really liked my Mismagius in D/P but thing is, that was the first time since RBY that I played pokemon so I have like no idea how I even got it.

Now I was wondering, is it possible to get a mismagius in HG/SS without any national pokedex, trading or anything wierd like that (I prob shouldnt say this, but I play on emulator so trading and cheating is out of the question, unless there is a cheat that I am not aware of)
