Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Okay. Hit my delay first time =), and advanced to frame 96. Spammed A to get my bulbasaur at frame 100.

Here's what I do (did).

Enter game, the NPC on the bottom left doesn't/didn't move. I saved it so every time I hit my seed, he wouldn't move.
I then ring Elm/Lower-right hand radio advance to get to frame 100.
Collected bulbasaur, bulbasaur's Ivs were on frame 104.
Tried again, advanced to frame 95. Bulbasaur's Ivs were on frame 99.
Finally, I advanced to frame 96. Got bulbasaur. Ivs were on frame 100.

But I think you might be right. I get confused over the starting frames >.<".
If when I got my poke my frame advanced by +4. Does that mean it's starting frame is indeed 5?

Could somebody tell me how he found out how it was on frame 100 every time?

he found its IVs, and since he knew he hit his seed (how to find if you hit your seed is explaine don the first page), he inserted them and the bulbasaur's nature in the main window of RNG reporter, selected method 1 because that's the method the starters professor oak gives you are generated by. Then he pressed generate and a list of frames that satisfied the IVs and nature for the seed he chose appeared, ad it turned out it was frame 100.

Sorry but i can't seem to be able to find the part about seeds on the first page. So how did he hit the same seed everytime?

I guess what I want to know is what do I do if I want to do about the same thing?

Is it ok if the journal pops up when you press continue? Or does this mess up the RNG?

Yeah its fine... How else would you RNG Breed Pokes?
If it has the Caught or Defeated message then it will advance the frame by 2, if not it wont advance at all. Just like any other Journal Page.

Alright, thanks! I guess im just not timing it right.... Also, while looking at the TR Special Spreads excel spreadsheet, i noticed something that says "Offset." What does this mean?

Ok im useing the time finder to get a shiny egg from ss and i choose a time that will give one on frame 2. I keep restarting everything when I don't get it and i think im doing something wrong. When do i start the game to get the right time?

For breeding the a flawless pokemon. When soft resetting for the IV spread do you soft reset as soon as you hit your target time or on your target time-your average time from reset to continue?

My friend was breeding it, so I don't have everything offhand. Believe it was a Totodile breed, Spanish Totodile line was one of the parents, believe an American Ditto was the other parent. Adamant was the nature going for I believe, don't know what nature came out (definitely wasn't Adamant though). It wasn't my breed.

I do have some other Spanish Pokemon though if someone wants me to look into it and draw up an actual table.

Yeah, well, it's more likely that your friend screwed up than there is any change in the game mechanics. Nothing here worth starting an investigation.

Wait, what i meant to say was... will it mess up the seed that i land on?

no your seed is determined based on the time you pressed A on the continue screen and the time you spent on it. The journal appears after when the game loads and your seed has been decided. The only thing it may effect is the frame in the way steve (jubilee) mentioned.

Wait, that statement is a bit confusing. Can you re-word that? How many frames are advanced?

So, type your seed into the main window and select method K. Find the IVs of the Pokémon you caught in the list (should be frame 2 if you haven't moved, I believe) then read across its "Actual Frame." Add 6 to this number and you get the frame you're now on.

What's the deal with frame vs. actual? I don't really get it. Do I have to advance to the frame or the actual or what? For HGSS legendary abuse.

EDIT: Basically I used the Time Finder and got a spread that said 31/31/31/31/31/31, my seed, blah blah blah and got a frame of 87 and an actual of 114. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

The actual frame is the frame of the spread if it was method 1. However you were using Method J/K and the frames are different, but the spreads are still from Method 1.

For the most part, you can ignore the actual frame.

Method J and K are basically "forward the RNG until you hit a Method 1 frame that matches nature X". Actual refers to the Method 1 frame it ends up hitting.
