I'm a bit depressed to see that they've decided to discontinue the pokemon walking behind you. Used to love to have tangrowth follow me around...

What? Are you sure they're discontinuing that? Maybe they just didn't want to show it in the pics for fear of revealing new Pokemon?

If they are, that sucks...I thought the Pokemon sprites were great!

Ya. I was bummed about it, too..... It doesn't seem likely. And no Pokemon walking by your side means no PokeWalker. I hope they bring back the Pokelathon, and make Contests/Pokelathon have Wi-Fi.

Definitely the Pokeathlon. THAT is FUNNNN! Contests...I haven't met anyone who even close to enjoys the Contests or Super Contests.

I don't know about you guys but I want this game to be totally out there. We're talking way bigger than the special/physical change for Gen IV. Skateboards, cars, battle system doing a complete 180, new pokes, evos, totally unique HMs, maybe even a Final Fantasy-esque time-based battle system--just something wholly new, unique, epic, and engaging. I'm talking like maybe even so far changed it could be compared to Pkmn Rangers or Mystery Dungeon. Let's shake things up for once!

If people don't really like the game I by no means say "Well, too bad, screw you." But, they can always play the last gen together and enjoy that. I wish the point of Pokemon wasn't just updates to the same game. Even Game Freak knows it's time for a change--We've pretty much covered all of the basics legendary-wise: (Sky, Earth, Ocean, Time, Space, Feelings, Alt. Dimension, Origin). At some point while making Gen IV they knew the next gen after it would take the series in a different direction. They've even given us a second chance to get all of the event pokemon just in case we didn't the first time. IMO, they're ready to cut this gen off. Sure, I'd like us to be able to bring in our old pokes to Gen V, but when will the developers say "Enough is enough" and cut off that kind of support? I mean, think about it--We will be able to have pokes in our Black/White cards that could have potentially been caught on our Gamecube. And when the next Nintendo home console comes out and they make a game similar to PBR on it, we'll be able to transfer said pokes from our 3DS to it. That's Gamecube --> GBA --> DS (Gen IV) --> 3DS (iknowiknow Gen V can be played on a regular DS) --> Nintendo's next home console. That's a 2 console generation gap, not to mention all of the back and forth between portable and home console. I'm just saying things are getting a little involved--how long can it last?

I guess what I'm saying is that I want there to be a reason that this last gen doesn't become completely obsolete--kinda like Gen III. Sure, you can replay it for nostalgia and to remember a time when there were slightly less pokes, but other than that, there really isn't a big point besides RNGing and cloning in Emerald now that we can get/literally catch every poke in the current gen. And yes, Gen I and II can and always will be fun. I just want this new Gen V to be such an awesomely epic, original, and different experience that it stands apart from the rest of the series--so we can look back at this current Gen IV and remember it as a uniquely fun time, instead of just another update. I want the game to be like the first time I picked up a Pkmn game, which in all honestly, is how it should be.

So bring on those game changing announcements! I, at least, am ready!

Me and my friends really enjoyed the Pokelathon, but we don't play it much anymore because we can't find any one else who has HG/SS, and even less that take part in the Pokelathon. Have you ever gone through the "Jump" and "Jump and Speed" with Diglett/Dugtrio?

I enjoyed contests for a little bit when Pearl/Diamond came out...But there isn't much to work hard for when you don't play with anyone else.

Nah...I've only played the Pokeathlon with my 3 teams. It's so much cooler than the contests. Super fun mini-games (except that horrid Pennant Capture) and getting to the final room is such an accomplishment. Then, you have to go beat records to get the trophies. So much to do. You can even buy cheap PP Ups and evolutionary stones. There's not much to beating contests. More accessories? Bleh... So yea...Pokeathlon just have to stay with new challenges, of course. They should keep some of them as classics, like BlockSmash, Ring Drop, Relay Run, Hurdle Dash, and GOAL ROLL!!! If they keep the Pokeathlon, Pennant Capture should not return. It's just terrible...

Edit: Contests are so...I don't know how to put this....once, I put a simple boulder under Caterpie and I got like 8 hearts. It's so pointless.

Prof. Elm: BECAUSE IF YOU HAD A KOFFING FOLLOWING YOU, RAPIDASH WOULD BE FLAMING SMOGON.

...Bad pun...

I also want Yanmega to get Fly...its HG Pokedex entry says it can easily carry an adult human being, yet APPARENTLY GameFreak's Pokedex crew fails harder than I thought.

Why can't we get bug-types with fly?

I would like to see the item storage on the computer return as it is a pain to scroll through all your items. What r u suppose to do with some of the stuff lol.

I rather like being able to carry around any number of items so I don't find something like a Hyper Potion but I don't have enough room for it. This used to happen to me a lot in Gen 3.

Running increases the encounter rate in HGSS. Someone in game even mentions that running attracts Pokemon and trainers. You know those trainers that look random but turn to you when you try to pass them? It's becasue you're running; if you walk, you can generally get past them.

I'm interested to know of any battle changes. Every gen brings something significant to the table. I don't know how you can top introducing hold items/two new types/fixing other shit, EVs/nature/ability, and the physical/special split. Hopefully we'll learn more about it and GF doesn't disappoint in their efforts to try and top DPPt.

That being said, hopefully the ability to have Pokemon follow you is retained. I also hope you can visit two regions because after playing through HG I like the idea of long storylines. It took me 35 hours to finally go and beat Red because there was so much to do.

Oh. I did not know that. I knew the bike, but....

BTW, I do NOT like Goal Roll. It's kind of fun, but it gets confusing. Especially when both players use Red Gyarados (both of us wanted to "surprise" each other and pull him. Gyara is good).

Actually Fusions would probably be weaker. If they're mixed together, they'd also be divided by two. So their base stats would be more well-rounded, but because of this, they'd have less specialization.
Go look at the post for the original idea. Empoleon + Gallade was well over Arceus' standards. An Pokemon is unique in the fact that their monsters actually make sense. You don't see a bird land on a dog and fuse together.

Just because something looks cool doesn't make it any good.

BTW, the original post is on page 54. It's probably the longest one their.

Something they could do without actually changing the game is to expand the overworld, especially the towns. Keeping the storyline and battle mechanics the same could be forgiven if we had massive cities and more interactive NPCs.

Fusions would be very bad tastes, though. Every major change have been positive. I don't think they'd break the change and make fusions. If they meant shocking as in shocking bad then maybe...

@above: I like Goal Roll because it's the most chaotic challenge, even more than the Disc Catch. The thing about the Disc Catch is that people are too focused on the disc so they're not as competitive to push people off. In Goal Roll, it's crazy. I get confused by the NPC's Girafarig and my own in Goal Roll but it adds more to the chaotic fun.

I'm still not sure how they'd be in bad tastes. It's not, like, flipping off the Queen or stripping to your underpants when your in-laws come for a visit. Whether they're good or not is subjective, but I'm not sure how taste factors into it.

It's just not Pokemon-like. It fits in with Pokemon as much as politics...possibly even less.

Forre, Shuckle...A bug Pokemon is either really good or really bad. No in between.

What you meant, a Bug type that is variant and Good. Forre, Shuckle, Scizor...there move pools are lacking. The 5 moves they do get are good enough to work with their stats, but...I.e. Outside of Super Power, Bullet Punch, SD, Roost, U-Turn, and Brick Break, Scizor doesn't get much. Those few moves are usually enough to compliment it's excellent stats and great ability.

It's fun when you just want to go all out, but not when your trying to be serious. I enjoy the "king of the hill" one where you have to fit in the circles, and the circles get really small for chaotic. Lol. In the wrestling mini game, you can drop kick other Pokemon!

Fusions, as I said just doesn't make a lot of sense, and it throws GFs uniqueness out the window.
