cool thanks rabbit for the insight. this game is getting more interesting. :O

Glad to hear it! If you haven't already, you should definitely check out some of the articles on the main Smogon site. There are some great ones for beginners about team building, breeding, different battle strategies and lots more.

Hey, just one quick question. Is shaymin really considered a "legendary" pokemon?? The reason I'm wondering is because in the movie that shaymin is in, at the end of the movie their was obviously more than one, and I thought that in order for a pokemont to qualify as being "legendary" it had to be one of a kind.

@ above: there doesn't really exist something called legendary pokemon as far as I know. It's just a term fans made up, altough theyc ommonly consider it to be one.

Little question from my side:
If a lopunny (with klutz) is holding a sticky barb, will an enemy pokemon that attacks it still take the 12.5% damage?

Technically Arcanine is classed as a 'Legendary' Pokémon. Also, Shaymin would be considered legendary due to its unbreedability.

Also, yes, even if the holder is a Klutz, the foe still takes damage from the Sticky Barb.

No. In fact a number of legendary Pokemon have been confirmed NOT unique, in the anime and even the games. (According to the Pokedex an Entei is born every time a new volcano is, so there must be loads.)
I believe Nintendo has recognised the term 'legendary Pokemon' - they official stated Phione is legendary.

There is no trait, however, that definitively identifies a Pokemon as legendary. There always seem to be exceptions. Most can't breed, except Phione and Manaphy. Most have 580 or higher BST, except Phione. Most can only be got once in the game - but that goes for Rotom too. Anything with a BST above 600 is legendary - except Slaking.

Despite all that, the list of Legendaries is generally accepted to be the birds, Mewtwo, Mew, the beasts, Lugia, Ho-oh, Celebi, the golems, the super-ancient Pokemon, the Latis, Deoxys, Jirachi, the Lake Trio, the Dragon Trio, Heatran, Regigigas, Shaymin, Manaphy, Phione, Darkrai, Cresselia, and Arceus. The only ones that tend to get disputed were Phione prior to official confirmation, and Rotom who confused people by being a unique encounter with the legendary battle theme.

Why isn't HP Ground used in more special Jirachi sets? The move gives coverage for those pesky steel types, deters Heatran, and Magnezone. Most people seem prefer to run HP fire. If you switch fire out for ground in the Superachi set, you'd resist everything except a Gyrados.

does AR ruin your game cartridge?

Depends what you do with it. If you hack a Pokemon, I'm not sure if you can get rid of all traces even if you delete it. If you just use it for codes like quick egg hatching, IV checking and things like that that don't create new data, I'm pretty sure it's undetectable.

how about items or TM's?

Rabbit and I see your question differently. To me it seems that you're asking if it corrupts your game, which it could. But if you mean something along the lines of hacking being on the game's "permanent record", I think if you were to get rid of all of your hacked things, or to start a new game, your game would be clean. But, I think it's a better idea to hack on a DS and game that aren't your main ones, so in case the AR corrupts either, you have your better game or DS still.

Does that happen often? I just ordered one, but I've only got one DS. I could use it only on a separate cart, but I feel like transferring things would be more of a pain than it's worth.

I really don't know, but I certainly wouldn't worry about it. And I would suggest just hack directly if you don't have 2 DS systems, because transferring is extremely difficult and time consuming using multiple games on one system

Depending on what codes you use and how often and how much at the same time the effects can vary from simply your game freezing once to your whole save file being destroyed. However, your DS will almost never be affected by it, so you don't have to worry.

just curious because I had someone teach my starmie thunderbolt and icebeam. He sent it back. I asked him a few question and he said he has a lot of TM's from AR. Is my game hacked or corrupted now that he sent back my starmie with those movesets?

Not at all. Starmie learns Ice Beam and Thunderbolt, and even if it's a hacked TM your game will be fine since there is no malicious data coming or going anywhere.

Has anyone else had HGSS crash upon resuming from standby (when the DS lid is closed). Seems to happen quite often, more likely the longer it's left. Don't think it ever happened with any other games, but since Soul Silver's been the only thing in my DS since the UK launch it may just be the console going funny.

Likely the latter since I've managed to drop SoulSilver down the side of my bed, got it covered in dust and it still works fine for me.

Lately I have been trying to make a reliable Baton Pass team but I haven't found any info other than the (Very good) article on the main DP page.

I do not know where to ask for some info and my search has been in vain. So I would be very grateful if you helped me a bit on this topic.

1) I want to use Porigon Z as the receptor. How many SpA boosters should I have in my team? It seems that I should have two of them so as to add resilence.

2) Drifblim looks like a very good option if used right. What do you think of him? Could a Baton Pass/Calm Mind/Substitute/Shadow Ball (Or thunderbolt) moveset work?

3) Given than the receptor of the chain comes into play pretty late is it a problem if you have two normal types?

4) Togekiss seems a very reliable pokemon to use to restart the chain or just exploit a weakness to pass Nasty Plot to Porigon-Z. Is that fine?

5) Electric types are hitting me harder than I would want to. What can I put on a Jolteon to make him very useful? Absorbing and passing Substitutes is good but I think I can get more out of him.

6) Can you show me some lists? I could draw some inspiration from them.

Thanks in advance.

Pretty much any Baton Pass team is a gimmick team. But if you insist on using it, make sure you can deal with Roar or Whirlwind, which could completely shut you down. But I would definitely advise a Speed boost on Porygon-Z, the Porygon-Z using Download. Porygon-Z's Special Attack stat is already massive, so it doesn't really need a lot of boosts. Something else such as Speed, which is Porygon-Z's biggest downfall in my opinion, could really use a good boost

Which Pokémon actually lose base stat points in any given base stat upon evolution?

Butterfree, Beedrill, Beutifly, Dustox, and Salamence all have lower defense than their prevos. Electivire and Scizor have less speed than their prevos. Shedinja has less HP than its prevo. I think that might be it but some Pokemon do have the same base stat as their prevos like Gyarados and Yanmega.
