god, why do i feel like this thread will be full of weird quotes until corocoro give us what we want? btw, i hope the fire starter will be fire/dark with something like base 105 atack, 110 special atack and 100 speed(final form obvious).

Ehh, I'm not really interested in a beefed up Houndoom. =/

They should bring back Hyper Beam and the like not needing to recharge when they KO. It kind of makes sense - the recharge would happen while the other trainer is choosing their next Pokemon and sending it out. Make the moves useful. Give Dialga and Rhyperior a reason to consider their signature moves.

This. I remember when I first played gold and thought my gyarados would be unstoppable when it got hyper beam, only to eventually discover the move generally sucked. When I found out how it worked in RBY, it made much more sense. Seriously, Palkia gets Spacial rend (and a random beneficial water typing) while Dialga gets a new hyper beam? It probably would be overpowered if it worked like RBY though, so they should make it more exclusive (though that means no 4th-5th gen connection) or just change roar of time and rock breaker.

About Absol, I agree that it works better as a stand alone pokemon, but an evolution could be called Agonash or Abyssmus if they make one. And Bug/Ground Pinsir would be awesome.

I personally think all the final starters are cool in their own way, including Venusaur, Torterra is one of my favorite pokemon and second favorite starter. I really never liked blastoise much though, or most water types in general really. Why choose your starter as such a common type that will inevitably be outclassed by another water type you can catch later on? In contrast, Grass and Fire starters are usually the best in-game choices for their types. Plus the're usually awesome.

Megainium is not the worst starter IMO (being one of my favorites). Swampert used to be one of my favorites, and even when he was, I still thought he looked weird.

I want to see a first form in a 3 stage evo line w/ those stats. lol

As I said, they should make an ability that negates the recharge time. It makes it so moves like SolarBeam doesn't have to charge and moves like Hyper Beam don't have to recharge.

I thought that Venusaur was great. The others were cool but not very good at OU battling.

Torterra can handle Heatran pretty well, surviving Fire Blasts with the right investment, provided it hasn't already taken damage. I think there was a pretty good set posted in the New Sets thread.

EDIT:

Also, I'm also interested in seeing a new kind of Evolution line.
Where there 1st stage begins strong(highest BST of the entire line) and decreases as it evolves, however, gaining a more valuable movepool as it evolves.

lol, it would make sense. Humans de-evolved and lost many parts: The appendix does nothing as important as it used to be used for anymore. We supposedly lost tails, etc.

First Pokemon that would be OU while still being NFE, having it's evo NU while the NFE OU would be pretty funny.

lol. That doesn't make too much sense.....

That'd probably throw off a lot of little kids out there.

"Hey, I evolved him again, and he sucks even more than before!"

I'm not sure they'd do that, but it'd be cool to see something where the first one is solid, the second form gets weak and old, then the third form gets really strong and a ghost typing, as it "dies". Or if it does keep getting worse stats, its final form has an ability like Slow Start or Torrent, where its stats get a big boost after a few turns or once it reaches a certain amount of HP.

Kind of like Nincada-Shedninja?

Overall, the starter's have generally looked good, barring the Turtwig line (seriously), so I'm expecting the Starter's to not look awful..

However, I have been annoyed with many of the starter's sprites in recent years. Venusaur, Blastoise and Meganium especially, look awful past Gen III, which is a shame because they've all looked neat in other Pokemon media.

....you are joking with me right? veno was one of the most horrible pieces of shit that ever existed, charizard RBY sprite was pathetic(all of then) and only started getting better in crystal, charizard look decent now, meganium-the most horrible starter, used to look cute in GSC, i give you that. starters sprites are getting better and more realistic over time.

i also want you to go check veno and charmeleon back sprite in RBY.

I'm thinking Dugtrio needs an evolution to make him badass so we can breed us some mad Digletts for it.

I'm thinking like an asphalt or cement oriented one...called like Dugtuple or Doztrio or something. Maybe with a central Diglett with four or five of them that circle it...and it kicks some ass.

I dunno, I think they need to give the Dugs some lovin'.

AND: And Ursaring.

obviously the sprites were bad back in the day, it was made for gameboy.

Also, Venusaur is awesome, and the three originals were the three most awesome starters. 2nd and 3rd gen were pretty bad, D/P are solid though.

Haha, assuming that sprites getting better over the years automatically means that the style and personality in the gets better as well.

Obviously the sprites weren't as refined and obviously they were lower-quality in earlier gens. Singling out any Pokemon for that is ridiculous. The sprites still had a unique and different personality, which is why I personally thought Venusaur was adorable in RBY and awesome-looking in GSC, as one example.

Don't get me wrong, the current sprites are amazing, but the more streamlined Pokemon designs made some of the older Pokemon lose much of the charm they had in the past.

most of the time its personal preference, so every time i say a sprite look better then another i want you to remember its IMO, another thing is, lets take hitmonlee emerald sprite for example. that thing look sick while kicking your ass only be staring at you mid-air, it looks better then the DPP sprite even though the quality is not the same.

i am not talking about the quality of the image though, i was talking about the pose and/or traces of the pokemon, charizard for example looked like it had super tiny arms with a retarded neck or some bizzare shit i cant even remember. they were unique but the nostagia charm dont always make the sprite better, in the same way new ones are not always better because of higher quality.

crystal sprites were very close to the anime, so they look good most of the time albeit with some limited quality, IMO the RSE sprites were the worst, then RBY, GSC and DPP(HGSS is better then all of those but whatever). i enjoy old sprites, but i prefer to not take the nostagia factor and/or the charm of 8-bits into consideration. sure that the gameboy limited the sprites quality, but yellow sprites look pretty decent for me.

the point is that i prefer realistic sprites rather then cool looking ones, DPPHGSS sprites look very real to me, so most of the time i will be picking those has my favorites, if RBY had more realistic ones, i would ignore the quality and pick then instead.

Megainium has had some of the worst sprites. I hated all of them until HG/SS. Charizards yellow was OK, just not fearsome like the dragon he used to be.

Lets not forget: Linoon only looks good on the TV show. I despise his sprites and artwork (which are practically the same) and 3d is pretty bad. Zigzagoon is only adorable in the 3d games and TV show, but looses a lot in his sprites as well.

Or someone even more forgotten than Ursaring: GRANBULL

I completely forgot it even existed until the other day when I found out Ursaring is better in almost every sense.

And then Snorlax is a lot weaker than them both but makes up for it in great Bulkiness while Ursaring at least has Guts or even Quick Feet to somewhat fix poor speed and make it different. Intimidate is nice, but Granbull could have at least got something to help it's attack like Ursaring...It can't really pull off a very bulky set as well as Snorlax, either....

So, on a different note, not long until the starters are leaked, I'm thinking we get a lizard, a pig and a beaver, grass/dragon, fire/rock and water/dark respectively

Dragon is probably not going to be a starter type seeing it's in a class all of it's own and Altaria is probably the weakest dragon and it is still pretty good.

lol. There is about 5-6 pages of people saying one is a platypus/Otter, one a bunny/donkey/pig, and one a lizard/bird/celebi..
