The best of my favourites

Basically my first "real" competitive team, I've gone through many permutations of it with the one goal of getting a balance between Pokémon I like and Pokémon that are strong, so it probably really sucks, but at least it has plenty of battles of experience. Here's how it is:

Roserade@Focus Sash
Timid
Natural Cure
252 Sp.Attack/252 Speed/4 HP
- Sludge Bomb
- Energy Ball
- Hidden Power (Fire)
- Toxic Spikes

The only of a series of shinies I found that's actually stuck around. I had liked the original Shiny Roserade so much, I was able to chain a much better one to use in my team. The basic idea is to open with some Toxic Spikes, but she's capable of packing a punch if needed. Hidden Power seems to be pretty weak, but it can catch 4x Fire weak Pokémon off guard, which is handy. Well I can't exactly use Sleep Powder on a chained Pokemon, but Sleep Powder does seem quite appealing...

Milotic@Leftovers
Calm
Marvel Scale
200 Def/56 Sp.Def/252 HP
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Sleep Talk
- Rest

Okay, let's ditch the gimmicky Icy Wind and capitalize on Marvel Scale with a ResTalk set. Also shiny for some reason. Doesn't actually look as good as I thought. I've got doubles teams, I suppose I can get over my hangup on making my teams doubles ready and just go for a pure singles state of mind.

Lucario@Wise Glasses
Modest
Inner Focus
252 Sp.Attack/252 Speed/4 HP
- Aura Sphere
- Dragon Pulse
- Shadow Ball
- Vacuum Wave

The on again-off again Lucario. The judge told me that not only were his IVs very high, but his Special Attack was perfect, so I've brought him back to stay. On the advice of friends, I've replaced Dark Pulse with Shadow Ball even though they pretty much have the same coverage and power, and finally found a 4th move I like for him. I've taken Weavile out with one hit thanks to Vacuum Wave!

Porgon2@Lum Berry
Bold
Trace
216 Def/40 Sp.Attack/252 HP
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Thunder Wave
- Recover

A weird recent addition who doesn't fulfil my policy of only replacing Pokémon with those that offer the same coverage, leaving me a bit fighting weak. In this case, it's to bring back my favourite ability, which is Trace. I've had a lot of fun with Trace, and it's helped me make a few fun switch ins as well. Besides walling and BoltBeaming, his main job is to use Thunder Wave to slow down Pokémon, which is usually a good thing.

Infernape@Life Orb
Naive
Flash Fire
252 Attack/64 Sp.Attack/192 Speed
- Overheat
- Close Combat
- Grass Knot
- U-Turn

I loved Arcanine, but Infernape is turning out to be really cool as well. A basic mixed set that also includes Grass Knot as an emergency grass move as I usually end up losing Roserade to set up spikes. Overheat or Close Combat for maximum damage and then U-Turn out of there if things get dicey.

Togekiss@Salac Berry?
Hardy
Serene Grace
64 Sp.Defence/192 Speed/252 HP
- Air Slash
- AncientPower
- Nasty Plot
- Baton Pass

My team's been taking a special trend as of latest iterations, so I thought I'd try embracing it with a baton passer! Air Slash gives me a flying move giving me a move for Fighting which I had been lacking ever since I replaced Scyther It also helps since 2 of my Pokemon are weak to ground and 2 are weak to fighting. I'm still a sucker for moves like AncientPower, but since I'm baton passing anyways, why not go with the move that could boost all my stats? I may need to think more about the hold item. I don't like using the same item twice, but I think I've already used all the good ones.

A moment for past teammates who didn't make the cut:

I'm still kind of new, and this is my first time trying this, but here are my thoughts.

First off, I love Roserade leads. I've always wanted to use one, but have never gotten around to it. With that being said, I can't comprehend why you aren't giving it sleep powder. Maybe that's just me.

Secondly, although Milotic is my #1 favorite pokemon of all time, in competitive gameplay I really haven't seen him do too much, and could be replaced on your team with something much more useful.

Your Lucario looks like your most legit pokemon to me. - Looks fine.

The next 3 pokemon have the same problem as your Milotic, they are decent, but not your best options. If anything, I would replace Arcanine.

Toxic Spikes is useless for the most part if you don't have a spin blocker.

Icy Wind + Ice Beam is stupid. Pick one or the other, and put Toxic over the one you get rid of. (Hint, you shouldn't keep the one that's named Icy Wind). Change the EV spread to 200 HP / 252 Def / 56 SDef.

Why Wise Glasses on Lucario? Life Orb or Choice Specs would be better.

Porygon2 wants Leftovers, not Lum Berry.

Arcanine is outclassed by Infernape in OU, so just use that.

Marowak is awful in OU. Unless you are going to baton pass stuff to it, which you aren't, it gets trampled on everything. There are a plethora of better sweepers out there to pick from. DD Mence, DD Tar, SD Scizor, Bulk Up Machamp, DD Gyara, the list goes on. Dragon Dance Tyranitar @ Babiri Berry would be nice on your team, so why don't we use that instead of Marowak?

Ttar does NOT fit on this team. One other pokemon is immune to Sandstorm, ONE other pokemon has leftovers. Also, Ttar provides another fighting weakness this team can't deal with.

Use a Bulky Dragon Dance Salamence, who can take hits and Roost them off, and has intimidate, a fighting resistance, and a ground immunity.

And now you have an electric weakness.

How about Swampert/Milotic? Standard mixpert, who can stealth rock (we all know what that means) and earthquake, as well as roar.

I agree with Alan, Toxic Spikes don't work without a ghost. Maybe you can change it into a scarf rosarade? A fast sleep means you can cripple something off the bat, while surviving to come in on a fighting/electric attack and kill something with 140 base power STAB leaf storn.

My rates officially suck, so beware.

I have all these weird hangups that keep me from being an optimal trainer. I don't like using the same hold item more than once nor do I like using choice items, so I use Wise Glasses and Muscle Band as substitutes.
But I can see myself using Infernape(@Life Orb, even) and that Marowak is my weakest link for sure. I'll start working on Arcanine -> Infernape. I'll need to think more about what to do about the spikes and Marowak.

Infernape has been working out quite well for me. I like that I can make a quick escape with U-Turn, or use it when predicting switches.
I might be training a Rest + Sleep Talk Milotic to take full advantage of Marvel Scale. I'd want that to be one of the shiny ones I hatched a while back.

You could always use an Expert Belt in place of a Choice Band. It can help you bluff a Choice item as you're not visible taking damage from a Life Orb, while still hitting relatively hard on anything that isn't neutral/NVE/immune to your chosen attacks. A bit overly specific in usage, but it can work well with some decent prediction.

I would definitely run Sleep Powder on on Roserade over Sludge Bomb if it's going to be your lead with that Focus Sash. Poison's coverage isn't too spectacular in OU with all the Steel-types running amuck, in my experience. Also, Milotic using two Ice attacks is redundant -- stick with one or the other, although I would choose Ice Beam for more outright power. Icy Wind is a bit too gimmicky and you are probably better off with Thunder Wave/Discharge support (a Zapdos/Rotom wouldn't be bad for your team for your two Fighting and Ground weaknesses), or Baton Pass support.

As for Marowak, my friend loves him to death, but he often finds it easiest to use in OU in conjunction with a Jolteon (the old JoltWak combo) to Baton Pass it either a Substitute or Agility, or both if he can manage it.

I strongly suggest opting with Earthquake over Bonemerang. With something as statistically inferior in OU as Marowak, he needs all the immediate/consistent power he can get, and he cannot afford to miss. Sure, Bonemerang offers the situational side-effect of breaking Substitutes, but a decent portion of OU Pokémon who often make use of Substitute are either resistant or immune to the move anyway. Many of them will also retaliate with a Super Effective move on Marowak. It could work better in Double Battle usage, as you say, but not very well outside of it, in my opinion.

Either way, have fun and good luck.

EDIT: Oh. Rotom would also make a decent Rapid Spin blocker for your Toxic Spikes, too. If you do decide to use one, you should probably try to fit Will-O-Wisp in the moveset. Reason being that it will help cripple those physical sweepers who attempt to damage your physically frail Pokémon, such as Roserade, Infernape, and Lucario.

Rotom sounds like fun, but I've got him in a different team and I don't like reusing Pokemon across multiple teams. How about Togekiss? You think that would work?
