NU Discussion Thread (Mark II)

he can work with no screens, what the guy was saying is that with screens he can setup a lot more easily. any poke work well with screens but setup sweepers like kingler make somewhat better use.

Hey I'm a bit new to this thread so forgive me if this has been discussed already but with Slowking being moved to UU is there a pokemon that can replace him on a trick room team? The role he played for my team was to utilize his bulkiness to make sure I had a reliable user to trick room. Grass know/surf also allowed him to sometimes sweep. I am just curious as he was key to my team being effective.

Porygon2 is basically the king of setting up Trick Room in Nu. Slow, Bulky, High Sp.Attack, BoltBeam, and Tri-Attack?

Good pokemon I've found for Nu Trick Room:

Setting Up:

Solrock as a Lead
Gardevoir
Porygon2
Eggy

Abuseing:
Marowak
Medicham
Gardevoir
Porygon2
Eggy
Kingler
Ursaring [Guts]
Rampardos

Basically anything else with High Attack/Sp.Attack and Low Speed.

Porygon2 should basically be on every Trick Room team, as it can set it up, reliably recover, and abuse it, all with a single moveset. Gardevoir is a good backup, especially to deal with the Fighting-types.

Entei is gonna be nuts. Yay, another broken Fire-type! Seriously, it's fast, powerful and has priority - something none of the other fire-types have. It's also bulkier. Therefore I think it's probably the most splashable, and damn is it good. Its main counters were Miltank and Slowking. Fortunately they're now gone and it gets to tear things up.

it will be uu i would imagin next tier change... too bad that won't be for awhile

nu is a clusterfuck... its almost like ubers lol

Umm yeah but that event seperets Entei from "crappy" to "awesome".

And because it's physically attacking it's pretty hard to stop. I guess we'll be seeing more SD Sucker Punch Victrebells. (Which I'm considering to add to my team.)
EDIT: Forgout about Cacturne which outclasses it.. But Victrebell isn't as broken as Cacturne in sandstorm.

enteir won't come until shoddy battle 2 unfortunatly because shoddy 1 can't force natures and shinyness when you use a certain move.

Sadly, Arcanine still outclasses it with Intimidate/Flash Fire and Morning Sun, even if it has less bulk.

Don't forget Dusclops. Dusknoir + Porygon2 is an amazing combination in OU, and you can pretty much take that exact combination down to NU. And I mean you can run Seismic Toss or Night Shade on Dusclops to somewhat make up for the attack drop.

manectric is underrated...
Charizard and the other flying types are annihilated by thunderbolt, including qwilfish and drifblim (common combo)
Overheat/flamethrower fries all the grass pokemon down here
And tbh, the other moves are nearly filler. Hp grass for quaggy i guess, although sometimes i replace it with signal beam. Tbolt does enough to psychics though. Lastly, switcheroo can screw over walls. Base 105 speed rocks, letting him outpace stuff like charizard.

Manectric is like the king of all my nu teams from now on

Manectric is kind of outclassed by Ninetales IMO, oh lol switcherro. It's an offensive Pokemon and I'll lol at those using Switcheroo. Walls won't stay on a Switcheroo either.

Back to the UU sadly. Though I had a decent spiker to work off. I liked using Stockpile with Pain Split and then stack up spikes while poison jabbing crap. Guess SD/Agility Kingler will fit into my team way better.

Look closer at that list, it hasn't been updated yet. For example, Froslass is on that list and was just banned recently.

However, if Qwilfish has dropped down (can't check at the moment) I can almost assure you it will be UU next time the tiers change simply because it is one of the most common leads in UU at the moment.

Are you kidding? Manetric's eletric STAB is invaluable!
Manetric's extra speed (beats base 100's) and ability to cripple a wall switch in is nothing to laugh at either. He also doesn't have a nasty stealth rock weakness.

They are hardly comparable either.
