I hope their concepts are life/birth and death =].

This would be neat, if maybe a bit heavy for an E-Rated game. Then again, we do have a move called Guillotine...

I know black is often related to death in Western cultures, but white is actually the color of death in Japanese culture, right? I remember back when the titles of the games were first released, there were a ton of people talking about the possible symbolism of that. I don't know though...Reshi really looks like he's supposed to be the good guy! Then again, maybe that's the point. Death isn't bad, it's just a new beginning. (Wow McLuvdisc, you totally stole that from Harry Potter).

I know Yin and Yang are more a part of traditional Chinese culture, but I'd personally like to see that as their theme as well.

Well Zekrom is in White so it could be the Pokemon related to death. Also, the part about making the sky light/dark sounded cool, too. Someone already discussed the possibility of having these games based on yin and yang and the one area of Japan that's between the regions that Johto and Hoenn are based off of, which is often used with yin and yang. So there's a good chance this game will have a lot to do with yin and yang.

Edit: @ Proboscidea, what if the first Pokemon in your party is an Egg or a really low level Pokemon that you decided to train? I'd suggest to make it your starter, but then you could have a really low level starter.

If it is based on life and death, I wonder which culture they'd base it on...
I've always wanted them to go all out with the bad guy team where there's a point in your game where you meet an impostor Nurse Joy in the PokeCenter and instead of returning your Pokemon back, she runs off with them. Then, there's a cutscene where you get the first Pokemon in your party back (the team disabled the PC access at this time) and your next mission is to get your remaining Pokemon back but they've been brainwashed like the Pokemon in the Drowzee episode.

That would be kinda cool, but if the first Pokemon in your party is some low-level Pokemon you're training, you be completely stuck unless you restart from your last save. It's game breaking.

Yea. I noticed that as I was typing it. Another problem is if you traded lv100s from another game over.

Ok, for the Light-type naysayers, here's one benefit of the new type: every Pokemon would have a weakness which means that Wonder Guard would then be allowed to be "Skill Swap"-able.

I guess you could really say that about any Pokemon, even your starter. Speaking of which, perhaps it should be how you get your starter Pokemon (and rival) in the first place. Like, "Oh, no, that thief ran off with three of my Pokemon! Oh, you managed to drive him off using my MIJUMARU? And he got away with my TSUTAJA? Well, at least you were able to save two of them. It's not too late, though! You can keep MIJUMARU, and I'll use the other Pokemon you saved...let's go get TSUTAJA back!"

Maybe they'll combine the Western and Japanese cultures dealing with life and death. Pokemon Black has Reshiram while White has Zekrom. Black being the western for death as well as the white of Reshiram being the Japanese for death. And on the other hand White symbolizes life for westerners while Zekrom is black and is also life for Japanese. *ramble*

That's pretty interesting, though I'm a bit iffy about the bad guys becoming common thieves again.

I am really liking the new Legendaries, Reshiram and Zekrom. They look amazing. I think aesthetically, this box is the best. It's so simple and neat. I totally jizzed when I saw them

How is this? Instead of your first Pokémon, your best/starter Pokémon

some person tells you its too dangerous to go into the evil team their base, but you go anyway, but some grunt finds you and locks you into a storage room!
your screwed, right?
NOT VERY!
you find 6 pokeballs, which contain the team members you had, but after you pick one, the grunt rushes back in and robs the other balls back, but forgets to relock the storage room door behind him/her.

Could just be me, but can you please elaborate on what you mean by that?

He means that you keep your starter and such. The game probably can't tell the difference and sometimes I release my starter when I find something better to use so that could really mess things up if they chose for you to keep your starter. Best probably means the highest leveled one. If there are two Pokemon that are the highest levels, I wonder how the game would read it. To keep it simple, the first in the party is the best option.

Ohh... Okay, I think I see what you mean. So it's similar to x runs with custom starters, in that sense?

I like these ideas, especially life/death/rebirth, black/white, and good/evil.

OK, so here's the game's plot:
You're a new trainer from Isshu and a mysterious professor sends you on a mission to Kanto to deliver a package. He gives you your starter for protection. On the way there, your plane crashes on a deserted island. As you and the other passengers attempt to find rescue and survive, you run across Zekrom, whom you are too weak to defeat, for now. It also becomes clear that the island is not all that it appears and that there are others living on the island (i.e. your typical Pokemon antagonist group, except they're not exactly evil this time). You discover ruins, temples, and remnants of a research facility. After several skirmishes and Pokemon battles with the others, a boat appears on shore. They're not friendly, but you manage to convince them to take you and two friends (your rivals) off the island, back to Isshu. You later return to the island to look for answers and rescue the remaining survivors. That's when you learn about the conflict between Reshiram, the island's guardian, and Zekrom, his nemesis, who is trapped on the island by Reshiram and the island because he would cause destruction if he were freed. One of the others (non-passengers but someone who was there before) is tricked by Zekrom into defeating Reshiram in battle, so it's up to you to defeat Zekrom and restore the balance of the island.

Wow...Lost simplified in Pokemon terms...

Well, I mean the highest level'd Pokémon, but if you have two level 100 Pokémon the game would choose the first one of the level 100, just as how I would think of it...
some person tells you its too dangerous to go into the evil team their base, but you go anyway, but some grunt finds you and locks you into a storage room!

But I think this idea is actually better!

EDIT: Also, it's the Isshu region, but I pronounce it as Issue, not a H but an U... if you have to pronounce it like that... could there be a 'big issue' going on in that region? I'm not sure about it... it's just a Japanese name... but still... it could be true?

If they do make the light type, this means that a few of the past Legendaries may get it. Lugia, Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Cresselia, The Latis, and The Pixies all seem to have the characteristics of a pure creature.

I was thinking the same thing, actually. It will certainly be interesting, especially if Gamefreak wants this game to be for more mature audiences.

White being the death color is almost exclusively Chinese in nature. The Japanese wear black to funerals, their version of the grim reaper (shinigami) wear black outfits, etc etc.

And I knew it was only a matter of time before some lunatic started crying about racism lol.

Idk if this was discussed already but Im wondering what the trio for Black and white would be.
Gen1= legendary birds
Gen2= Legendary Dogs,
Gen3=Regis
Gen4=Fairies
Gen5=???

Whats next?
