Magmortar looks like the cool salamander/duck thing he was supposed to be. On top of that, everyone has their own opinions. There will always be fans claiming one generation was better than the other simply because of their experiences with that generation. I never really liked Jynx anyways, but I think players want evolutions for Pokemon to make them competitively viable. They are also pretty solid designs to improve upon, rather than resorting to making additional forms for Pokemon like Rotom, or even worthless shit like Bonsly.

Weezing wasn't a stand-alone Pokemon, it evolved from Koffing :naughty: But yeah, I agree with you on this one. Most of the Gen 4 evolutions just look like old Pokemon that have been force-fed a swimming pool of lard and shot with a few randomly colored paintballs for good measure. Still, there are a few cool ones. Honchkrow, for example - he's fat, but not ridiculously so, and the extra girth fits since he's a mob boss and all. That fedora-shaped plume on his head looks awesome too. Yanmega and Weavile both look kick-ass, and they haven't gained a pound. For every morbidly obese evo (I'm looking at you Lickilicky), there's bound to be one that looks halfway decent. Plus, if you like the looks of the old Pokemon better, you can always just put an Everstone on them to prevent them from evolving at all.
Think it's about time I come out of lurking for Gen 5 :D
Here's my two cents:
Zoroark has a good concept (although we do have Ditto) but unless he gets some specific attacks, he'd have to compete with Weavile.
Starters don't look too bad, they seem Pokemon-esque enough for me. I'd like to see some new type combinations from this game starting with the starters. How about Grass/Dragon, Fire/Ground, and maybe Water/Fighting?
The Legendaries seem more like "pokemon" than the previous two generations of cover legendaries. Or course there's no way to determine what looks like a pokemon and what doesn't, so this is all opinion. Assuming they're part Dragon, maybe Normal/Dragon for Reshiram and Dark/Dragon for Zekrom? (Btw, I'm not really liking those names because they're apparently going to be the English names as well).
About the story, I'm liking this nature vs technology thing. Maybe we will see two teams again. I don't think these two are meant to top Arceus. How are you going to top the God of Pokemon that was born out of chaos?
I think Reshiram represents the "earth's" spirit, and embodiment of such. For Zekrom, I think this could be another man-made pokemon, it's not like we haven't seen that before in the Regis and Mewtwo. Here's the twist: Reshiram is used to destroy nature while Zekrom is used to destroy the cities.
Some other random thoughts:
Considering we'll be getting more moves, I wonder if they'd increase the Tm's to 150? Probably too much data. Speaking of data, are they going to be able to contain all this. We're looking at 600+ (Including alternate forms) Pokemon sprites and now there are going to be multiple versions of the sprites. Plus there's 3d as well and you can't count out the music as well. As for pre-evos and evos of previous pokemon-NO! I'm tired of this. I want new concepts and new pokemon. I hated that the 4th generation had all these random evolutions and pre-evolutions when they could have used those spots for new pokemon lines, typings, and battle concepts. They shouldn't make evos to balance a pokemon that they screwed up competitively.
I think that's enough from me, I'll wait till more info comes.

The only beef I have against Mijumaru is its moe status. I called it ever since it was revealed, and... Well, I dislike moe things. Woobie characteristics were never my cup of tea, and I honestly dislike Mijumaru for it. (And I do realize that a LOOOT of people are going to come to my house and burn to the ground now. ;^^)
Or they can make an attack where the higher the enemies stat, the more powerful this attack becomes. It would encourage things like attacking Skarm Physically and Blissey Special.
lol, I didn't hate it either, and thought it was the cutest of the 3. Something I noticed; Either you love the water starter w/ all your being, or despise it w/ every ounce of your soul. There is no in between.

I'm still seriously hoping that in this gen, they'll be a possum pokémon introduced. Bonus points if it's a version exclusive 'mon.
I was hoping it'd have the Water/Ice typing, then have some gimmick movepool and/or stats that made it pretty meh to use. Then it'd be even MORE moe and make even more people love its bad self.
My friend was actually talking about that when the legendaries were revealed Friday. She was dead-set on Zekrom having to do more with the void, while she was fine with agreeing with me that Reshiram could be a play on angelic themes.
The Diglette nose throws off it's cuteness, but I still think it's the cutest.
lol. 230 in 2 stats it can really utilize, no 4x weaknesses, and a SS boost, isn't enough for Shuckle to be good. I have used Shuckle w/ frightening success. The only reason he is NU is b/c Steels are immune to toxic and SS. It can still PP stall them and stall w/ Wrap, but Leftovers ruin this....
lol, also a great Breloom counter. Switches in, uses Sleep Talk, and Gastro Acids Breloom. Destroyed by it's own incredibly broken ability......lol......

of course not, but Koffing/Weezing look like tumours in the first place (and look good doing so) so I don't see how that would be a problem.
I happen to think Magmar has the worst design out of any Pokemon. Magmortar was a tenfold improvement.
also, for those calling Lickilicky unnecessarily fat... Lickitung eats everything, did you really expect it to not be fat? Lickilicky looks exactly how it should; a fatter Lickitung.
Struggle, Beat Up, Doom Desire, Future Sight and some other odd ones.
I think what happened with Lickilicky was he got taller, so they made him fatter to keep his BMI constant, but forget to make his legs exist.
I want to see an attack that ignores typing and hits everything for neutral damage, that does no obviously suck or has some sort of limitation (Super Fang).
