That's almost perfect. I didn't like or dislike any of the 1st gen starters though. Besides that, you got it spot on.

@Jonathan: It's a personal thing. I absolutely despise monkeys. I love rain forest animals but I would be willing to risk their lives and burn down the Amazon just to get rid of the monkeys.

I know a lot of people are all "OMG MUDKIPZ!" but I had an experience where a Mudkip-like frog went into the house and it was all nasty so every time I see Mudkip, I think of that nasty frog.

I thought that thing is a T-Rex too but some of the people here pulled up a Wikipedia page that said it's another dinosaur. One I've never even heard of. Someone is probably going to say it soon.

You and me both. I tried to go through with chimchar, but infernape looks straight out of planet of the apes.....those creepy human/monkey looking things with the armor.

Anyone ever think of a mono bug larva thing with small wings, then if given a fire stone, it evolves to a "fire"fly and if given a thunderstone it would be a "lightning"bug? Fun idea, really.

Bulbsaur and Totodile are good looking mons in my opinion. I hated all the Gen 3 starters, but I liked all three Gen 4.

I agree with you though that your list is the most useful starters of each gen.

EDIT: Last night I thought of an interesting ability. It would be called "Momentum" and when you switch the poke in it automatically counters (like the move counter) the attack that it gets hit with. What do you guys think?

I was just checking out Pokebeach (looking for Pokemon Sunday info I may have missed), and they had this article written a few days ago that I thought was really interesting:
As we posted yesterday, Reshiram's name comes from "shiro," which means "white" in Japanese, whereas Zekrom's comes from "kuro," which means "black." But as it turns out, the names also originate from the Japanese words "shiramu" and "kuromu," which mean "to grow light" and "to grow dark." Specifically, these words are used to refer to the sky becoming light and dark. Like we pointed out a few weeks ago, "hiun" in Hiun City's name can mean "clouds being blown by the wind." In addition to this, the bridge connected to Hiun City is named "Sky Arrow Bridge." So, we obviously have a sky theme going on in these two games in addition to the possible lightening or darkening of it. Thanks goes to Yaminokame for researching these name meanings.
I kind of like learning about Pokemon name origins, and these ones are pretty neat.

this is the dino that Rampardos is based on. Its called a Pachycephalosaurus.

As for T-tar, I understand his name is based off of Tyranosaurus but a real T-rex looks too different to consider him based off of one. I agree with others that a poke that is shaped and based off of a T-rex is long overdue.

EDIT: sorry guys didn't see someone posted the answer xD my bad.

The thing about a Tyrannosaurus Rex pokemon, is that I could NEVER accept it unless it has Dark as one of its type. I mean... the 'Tyrant' clearly would be Dark type. With Rock too as its a fossil.

Ground/Ghost would be amazing. Immune to Normal, Fighting and Electric. Then you could give it levitate :naughty:

I have an even better one

Ghost-Steel with Levitate, or Ghost-Normal with Levitate. Both get a whopping 4 immunities and only 1 weakness.

Ghost-Steel gets normal and Poison immunities. Ghost gives an immunity to fighting (which steel is weak to) and levitate takes care of ground, which steel is also weak to. Steel is naturally defensive and I'd love to see a moveset with Cosmic Power, Recover, Seismic Toss, and Night Shade. Plus a Toxic Immunity is Nice.

Ghost-Normal resists the fighting-ghost combination (barring scrappy) and is only weak to Dark attacks. 4 immunities (normal, fighting, ghost, and ground with levitate) gives this guy a lot to switch into, which could work awesomely for either a defensive or offensive build. But since Normal is never paired with anything but Flying, (outside of Bibaral and Girafraig) this is extremely unlikely.

If it comes from the name of what its based off or its history, then it still equals Dark for a T-Rex. The dinosaur was the prime example of a bully and would suit moves like Torment, Taunt, Bite, Crunch, Payback, Assurance, etc.

I've been dying for a Ghost/Steel. Haunted Armor Suits ftw.

Haunted Armor suit... I like it. I really like it!

Maybe we could have a Mawile evo that's not steel typed, and the Haunted Armor pokemon is obtained shedinja-like.

And I really want said pokemon to get the four moves I mentioned for it.

Tyranitar is probably based off of godzilla moreso than any dinosaur.
The only thing Tyranitar has in common with Godzilla is its body structure, which other Pokemon share as well.

For the longest time Fire was one of the crapiest types but had so many different variations of moves, I hope we get more options like Fire did and more attacks in general. The IV attack split left so many Pokemon with limited and often weak moves, like Electivire who is a solid physical attacker forced to using Thunder Punch as its only stabbed physical attack while extreme glass cannons like Pikachu and its line have exclusive access to Volt Tackle.

I can't really think of anything Tyranitar is based on. Maybe a myth or legend? Part of its name comes from Tyrant it seems, justifying its Dark type.

The thing is, if Tyranitar was too T-rex-like, you'd be calling bullshit because there's just no creativity in copy-pasting something that actually exist(ed). Then again, nobody hates on Pidgey too much, huh?
