it was confirmed on the pokebeach site that it was fake, and has been a fake tauros evo for quite some time.
meaning the guy and his info is fake.. meaning.. we can all move on.

It's been proven as the obvious fake it is, just do a quick search on Deviantart for "tauros evo". This guy had really good credibility, seeing as he's had insider information before. He also seemed like a nice guy, and was apparently even part of the media for the Pokemon VGC. Why would he throw it away for such a poor hoax? I just don't understand why people would just discard their credibility like that. PurpleKecleon's hoaxes are way more believable...

I didn't really believe the guy, as I said earlier, but I just can't believe someone like that would just up and put their trustworthiness on the line, is what I'm saying.
I don't think Tauros will get an evo. It honestly seems like a good Pokemon as it is. But then again, so were Dusclops, Rhydon, etc....

I think he has a fairly decent chance at evolution, even if Miltank does not evolve. I mean, counterparts have gone their separate ways before. Scyther got Scizor while Pinsir stayed in the dust.
That's what I'm thinking: Tauros is just fine by GameFreak standards, but not only did Dusclops and co. evolve anyway, they seem to be intent on writing a love letter to Generation I (how many non-legendary Generation I Pokemon haven't yet been given evolutions or baby forms? Like, three or four?).
PurpleKecleon is an actually pretty good artist, who's done at least one noteworthy hoax involving Sky Forme Shaymin. Based on the description we had (you know, the one where it's cute, looks kinda like girafarig which it doesn't... at least IMO and a rejected Eevee evolution), she drew a fake design, printed it on glossy paper to make it look like a poster or magazine page, and took a blurry picture of it. One of her friends posted it on 4chan anonymously and it spread like wildfire. It was really actually believable, but she claimed the hoax was something along the lines of an experiment to see how the fandom treats leaks like that... or something along those lines. I believed it, anyway... the design we got officially was way better either way.
*checks Bulbapedia* Tauros, Farfetch'd, Kangaskhan, Pinsir, Lapras, Ditto, and Aerodactyl. Pinsir and Kangaskhan are really the only other 2 I could picture getting an evolution. Ditto must keep its role as a gimmick Pokemon, Lapras and Aerodactyl are already quite nice, and Farfetch'd... Farfetch'd has to be forever awful.
Miltank and Tauros aren't really counterparts in the same way that Pinsir and Scyther are, in that, they have never been version exclusive Pokemon. They aren't even counterparts like the Nidorans or Volbeat and Illumise are. I do agree that they'll probably give an evolution to one counterpart in a set and screw over the other, but I think it's more likely that they do it with something like Arbok and Sandslash or Sableye and Mawile.
A Miltank and Tauros prevo would be cool, especially if it gets Rapid Spin and a move that lets Tauros activate anger point.
Edit: The baby in Kangaskhan's pouch has already been called Kangaskhan so a Kangaskhan prevo wouldn't really work. They could have possibly done it in GSC but if they do it now, it won't even prevent Kangaskhan from having a baby in its pouch when you hatch one, since you'll need to use incense to get the prevo.
Kangaskhan should have a prevo that represents the baby that Kangaskhan has in its pouch. Lapras could also use a prevo, and I agree with all of the above posts regarding Taurus and Miltank evoz/a common prevo. Farfech'd could also use an evo, it has a signature item for crying out loud!
If it comes to that, it kinda makes me wonder. If there ARE 3v3 battles, and they DO all share 1 HP bar, do you think they'd introduce it like they morph all the pokemon together, like add there HP and ATTK and DEF and SPDs to make one giant pokemon that gets to use 3 moves out of 12?

I don't see how him making the account a few hours after the rumors were posted means anything. In fact, that makes more sense to me that it's him since that's the case. Maybe Martijn decided he wanted a method to communicate with the community. "Martijngamer" is the tag he seems to use. Personally, I think people claiming it's not really the original informant are just trying to remain hopeful that the rumors posted might be true... Not to mention, the poster showed a picture of his media pass from the Pokemon VGC as proof that it was him anyway.

Very good point. In fact, I think that the idea of Miltank and Tauros being counterparts is more fan-based than with counterparts that are clearly meant to be counterparts. After all, other than the fact that they are both bovines and have exclusive genders, doesn't make them true counterparts. But I digress. :P
The idea of giving them both one prevo doesn't seem that plausible, though. The only two Pokemon that received a common prevo and were not related are Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan, and it is pretty common knowledge that they are true counterparts. Thus, I think it is more likely for Tauros and Miltank to receive individual prevos, not one common one. But if that is what you were tying to say in the first place then a thousand sorries. XD

Now you mention it, isn't Mew an evolution of Ditto (both could learn Mimic)?
No, but there is a theory that Ditto is merely a Mew that lost its more solid form in order to not be hunted for its rarity - same color/weight/etc, and both can transform.
