I have two questions:

1. Is there a WiFi mode in PBR with matchmaking similar to the GS Cup Flat Battle and which doesn't auto-level your pokemon up to 50 if you're using, for example, a Lv. 1 Smeargle? I don't want to waste my time if there isn't.

As far as I know, it always auto-levels. PBR realy needs to be updated or replaced cuz it can't even recognize Griseous Orb...lame.

You *can* do friend battles (not random Wi-Fi, tho) with auto-leveling turned off. There are actually a bunch if interesting variants--e.g. sum of levels of all your guys must be a given value.

I know that they discusted this a lot but does any one know why they did not take out stealth rocks , make it a suspect , or just cap it by 25% max (perferibly a little newer bec some reasons they gave was bec then salamance would be too strong and he's now suspect )

Because it's totally unescessary

I read the thread rules. not sure if this "violates" them? I apologize if it does.

I am starting to EV train my very first OU team on pokemon pearl and would LOVE it if an experienced EV-training metabattler could PM me so I could ask several questions (the rate my team thread said not to post incomplete teams..and mine is, well, incomplete! haha)

I have also read through smogen's vast number of build and EV stat guides which has been very helpful.

if there's an experienced battler out there who is willing to take the time to PM me and answer some questions I'd greatly appreciate it!

Please dont say its unnecessary because both sides have strong points .............................. Not broken enough.
make it a suspect ,
Pokemon are of more importance than single moves.

We don't alter with game mechanics.

I encountered a wild Dustox and it used Whirlwind first turn, but it failed (against my Alakazam).

How/why did Whirlwind fail?

EDIT: Nvm, found the answer.

Would you mind sharing? Sometimes the NPC's pokemon (like Jasmine's Empoleon or wild Growlithe) will fair if they use Roar or Whirlwind on me. I don't even own a Soundproof or Suction Cups pokemon and they weren't Taunted.

Let's say I have a Brave Level 50 Machamp with a 0 speed IV, and a Brave Level 50 Machamp with a 1 speed IV. If both have 0 speed EVs, would their speed stat be the same at level 50? Or would the second Machamp's be one point higher?

Hello!

I need some help with this team here it is so far:

Celebi@Leftovers
EV's: 196Hp 216Spe 96SpA
Ability: Natural Cure
Nature: Timid
Moves:

Energy Ball
Stealth Rock
Thunder Wave
Earth Power

This is my lead to start off my team, it's job is to t-wave leads and to set up SR for me, so far no problems with celebi.

Azelf@Life Orb
EV's: 40Atk 216Spe 252SpA
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Naive
Moves:

Grass Knot
Fire Blast
Psychic
Explosion

This is one of my mid-late game cleaners and provides the coverage that some of my team lacks, so far azelf is doing its job oh and sorry for the small descriptions, but I am tired and trying to make it brief.

Skarmory@Leftovers
EV's: 252Hp 176Def 16Spe 64SpD
Ability: Keen Eye
Nature: Impish
Moves:

Spikes
Brave Bird
Roost
Whirlwind

This is my spiker as well as my physical wall and phazer, it has been working well and it has great synergy with the rest of the team (you shall see)

Blissey@Leftovers
Ev's: 180Hp 252Def 76SpD
Ability: Natural Cure
Nature: Bold
Moves:

Wish
Protect
Thunder Wave
Seismic Toss

This is my special wall and also forms the SkarmBliss combo which is always nice, she is also my wisher and general annoyer.

Jolteon@Life Orb
Ev's: 4Hp 252Spe 252SpA
Ability: Volt Absorb
Nature: Timid
Moves:

Magnet Rise
Thunderbolt
Shadow Ball
Hidden Power [Ice]

This is my special sweeper and is awesome magnet rise is the selling point which gives me immunity to jolt's biggest weakness: Ground.

Feraligatr@Mystic Water
EV's: 4Hp 252Atk 252Spe
Ability: Torrent
Nature: Jolly
Moves:

Swords Dance
Aqua Jet
Return
Waterfall

This is the star of my team, but it really lacks something to WOW me, but i really want to base it around Gatr.

Also ghost types give me some trouble.
Thanx in advance for any comments and suggestions

Once again sorry for the short descriptions

Thanx again!

The second may round to 1 point higher, as it would be worth .5 Speed

Roar/Whirlwind has a chance to fail if the user is a lower level than the target but I don't know how it works exactly. I think some one on here said that the bigger the level difference, the higher chance it has to fail.

Captain Awesome, Master Ball:

The failure rate for Whirlwind is probably as follows: "Fails if ( ( X * ( (user's level) + (opponent's level) ) ) / 256 ) + 1 is less than or equal to opponent's level divided by 4, rounded down, where X is a random number from 0 through 255." This held at least for generation 3.

Stats always truncate (computer term for leaving off the decimal). However, if you each have 252 EVs in that stat, the Machamp with the 1 IV will have a stat 1 higher, because at level 50 the stat increases on the 4th, 12th, ..., 252nd EV when your IV is odd and the 8th, 16th, ... 248th EV when your IV is even.

This also has some VGC EV spread implications which I won't go into right now.

Hey, here's an interesting idea. I know we don't tamper with game mechanics but it would be interesting if we did. What if moves like roar/whirlwind etc didn't always go last but were based on speed instead?? I know that it would make things cheap because if you had stealth rock up you could basically just stealth rock damage your opponents to death, but they could have fixed this problem by giving the move lower PP. It would make pokemon like swellow excellent scouts and add a whole new style to battling. Smogon is supposed to enjoy doing a lot of "experiments" (like the CAP project) for the OU metagame, and I honestly don't see why altering the game mechanics couldn't fall into the "experiments" we're doing (again, like CAP project).

This can be done based of speed. If I recall seeing somewhere you can actually call them from the move "Assist" (Use a random move of a party pokemon, some are unuseable) and providing your pokemon outspeeds the other pokemon you can always force them out first.

+ MORE QUESTIONS FOR EVERYONE.

I'll ask here, as more experienced smogoners can clarify some things for me regarding smogon itself.

-QUESTION ONE

I wish to post a team to be rated. However it contains many pokemon from NFE and UU. While I treat them as no gimmick some others may feel otherwise. As stated in the posting rules. Will this be ok?

Source from this thread.

http://www.smogon.com/forums/announcement.php?f=120&a=121

"15. As a site dedicated to competitive battling, we request that your team is as competitive as possible within its given metagame. In-game teams and gimmick teams will be closed. Battle Tower teams are permitted. "Theme Teams" are also OK as long as they demonstrate an understanding of the competitive metagame they are to be used in."

-QUESTION TWO
I tend to play online on Pokemon Battle Revolution, 6 pokemon and choose 3. I understand if it will be ignored because many may see it as non-competitive with such a radical set of rules and randomness of players. I use NFE and the like to take on everything between Legendaries, Ubers, skilled players, baby squads etc with great success and some suprising results. Will this be a issue?

"10. Custom Rules. If you are playing with a different ruleset from the standard, please gives details so team raters know what the limitations are. The standard rules for most battles are: etc"

-QUESTION THREE

If my team wouldn't go there ("http://www.smogon.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=120"). Is there a area where I can post individual Pokemon movesets, EV's etc? Half the time I have no idea what some pokemon are doing in UU and particular NFE.

- FINAL QUESTION

While I'm here what the heck is the deal with the tier NFE? Are they considered unplayable? Also is it legal to use pokemon in the tier lower in a higher tier. eg, UU, NFE, BL and can be legally played in OU?

Cake to whoever answers all my questions.

that is a horrible idea. not to metion if you wanted to disobey the core of smogon and change mechanics, you coulda at least mentioned flare blitz flareon :/. everyone would have spikes + stealth rock, except no one could ever set them up. scarved aeros everywhere. teams of 6 clefables. etc.
But I used an assist team once, I was incredibly unlucky with it but when I wasn't so unlucky it was almost a garunteed gg.
