404 is a substitute number, so that at level 100, Sesmic Toss/Night Shade will not be able to break the Pokemon's Substitute in one hit, allowing setup/less prediction. That 16n+1 theory is from the fact that residual damage (Stealth rock/sandstorm/etc.) will spare the Pokemon. You can certainly use this rule, but it is usually better to max HP on walls (not named Blissey), and more on atk/spe on frail offensive Pokemon.

@Skymin_Flower
So where can you get Pokemon XD then? And which console is the game on (and transfering the Pokemon...)?

XD Gale of Darkness is for gamecube, and although you can play it on wii i don't think you can transfer. you can transfer to 3rd gen games (eg ruby, sapphire) and plus you need a gameboy-gamecube connection cable thing to transfer. In short, it's a really long route i doubt you'll want to follow just for the dragonite. Great game though

Edit: as above :P

Just a quick question, are you allowed to use events in WIFI and Competition Battles?

Just wondering because the new Crown Entei can be a nice Choice Band Addition to a NU/UU team, with its Event only Moves Flare Blitz and Extreme Speed.

For Example

Adamant - Choice Band
252 Atk - 252 Speed - 4 HP
Flare Blitz
Extreme Speed
Iron Head
Stone Edge

Also are there any IV limitations on Event Pokemon??

Also are there any IV limitations on Event Pokemon??

For Pokémon received directly via Wondercard (that you pick up at the Mart in-game), it's theoretically possible that there could be limitations, but in practice everything tends to be legal. The reason is that nature is independent of IVs for a Wondercard Pokémon; i.e. because it's possible to get a flawless Modest Method 1 Pokémon (i.e. the flawless spread is possible with some nature), it's possible to get a flawless Wondercard Pokémon of any nature (although as far as I know, nobody's figured out how to RNG the nature yet, so you have to repeatedly RNG for the IVs you want and hope to get the nature you want at random).

Some event Pokémon are instead distributed by Wondercards that give items that unlock a particular area in a game (e.g. Oak's Letter Shaymin; the Wondercard contains the letter, and you encounter the Shaymin in-game); likewise, some are distributed via a second event Pokémon (the HGSS event Giratina/Dialga/Palkia is available via the DPP event Arceus, for instance). In such cases, there are IV restrictions (generally the Method 1 set of restrictions, which are the ones that Shoddy enforces on legendaries). As an example, this means that if you want them flawless, they have to be Calm, Docile, Modest, or Timid; there are also restrictions on ability and gender, but the first generally doesn't matter for event Pokémon because they only have one ability, and the second you generally don't care about (not to mention they're mostly genderless anyway).

It's a GameCube game, so you probably won't see it in stores anymore. You'd probably need to buy it online. You won't HAVE to buy a GameCube if you don't have one though, the Wii is backwards compatible so you can use a Wii.

You use the GameCube-to-GBA cable to send Pokemon from there to your GBA game, and then migrate them to gen 4 from there.

EDIT: Transferring from a Wii is entirely possible. A Wii running a Cube game is essentially a GameCube, and it has all the controller and memory card slots that the Cube does.
Right, so you will need a GBA/GBASP as well? I have never seen a Cube before, so where do you get the Cude-GBA cable?
Does all RSEFL get the Pokemon?
Can you "SR" for nature and IVs?

The Nature for the event legendary beasts is fixed because they're shiny so you should be able to simply RNG the IVs and get a flawless one.

why does Shedinja's strategies all require 12 defence ivs?
whats the point? it only has 1 hp so wouldn't any defence not matter?

This is from the EV section in its analysis.

The only reason Shedinja uses Lonely or Hasty, an Defense IV stat of 12, and 4 SpD EVs is for the rare case that a Porygon2 or Porygon-Z with Download switches in; it will receive an Attack boost instead of a Special Attack boost. This situation is only theoretical, and as such, Adamant and Jolly are both perfectly acceptable.

Again, you'd probably need to go online to look for that cable, since stores don't sell Cube stuff anymore. And yes, you'd need a GBA or SP with the gen 3 game to receive the Pokemon.

SRing is indeed possible, in the same manner as the portable games.

How can I get a different form rotom

In Platinum, you need to have gotten the Secret Key from a Wi-Fi event that ended a long time ago. The room you need to go to is in the Galactic Hideout on the left side of the lobby.

In HGSS, trade in a Rotom and go to Silph Co. with Rotom first in your party. Get in the elevator and Rotom will make it take you to the room with the appliances in it.

What would be better for fighting 1 on 1 like in the Battle Hall? A fast Tyranitar or a bulky Tyranitar? I'm thinking Bulky, with a Choice Band or Focus Sash

Before I found out about ev training, I already was training a lucario. It is now lv. 56. Do I have to start over? Or, if i start ev training now, will it have the same stats at lv. 100 as if i had started ev training at lv. 1 ?

As long as you use EV reducing berries to get rid of any unwanted EVs, and train it again before it hits level 100, the outcome will be the same. It doesn't matter at what level a Pokémon is EV trained

This is from the EV section in its analysis.

That analysis is pretty stupid and redundant in my opinion. I use my own sets for Shedinja. The analysis says to use low Defence so a Porygon would get an Attack boost not Special Attack, but then it tells you to maximize Defensive stats with remaining EVs and such to make the strongest possible substitute. I find that really dumb

It doesn't say anywhere in the analysis that you should maximise its defences. Besides, with defences that low, any investment would be largely pointless anyway.

The analysis doesn't say to max your defenses, it says to put the extra 4 EVs into a defense for the purposes of strengthening a Sub, should the situation ever arise.

Shedinja analysis said:
...maxing out Attack and Speed EVs is all but required.

The analysis doesn't say to max your defenses, it says to put the extra 4 EVs into a defense for the purposes of strengthening a Sub, should the situation ever arise.

What I mean is make your defenses as high as possible with what you have left. Once you have 504 EVs used, there are only 4 left, so with what you have left, you're doing the maximum amount of bulking up your defences possible

Why is it 'dumb' to get as high defenses as possible while still allowing for Download PoryZ (which is more common than getting passed a Sub and needing those extra 4 EVs)?

I think it's because Porygon-Z's SAtk is its strongest suite, and you really don't want that any higher than it already is.

Also, I'm not really sure I understood the question.

Shedinja isn't very common in OU, I commonly use Shedinja across the board, and I find its usefulness is at minimum in the OU tier, it's much more usefull in Ubers believe it or not, and UU. Sharpen Porygon-Z takes advantage of your misprediction of intentionally giving Porygon-Z an Attack boost, and Porygon 2 uses Trace much more than Download in my experiences. And the very common Adaptability Porygon-Z doesn't care at all what your Defense is in relation to Special Defense. It seems like it's almost not worth mentioning
