World Cup: South Africa 2010 - Paul and Spain win!

My biased predictions:

NK 0 - 0 Ivory Coast. I don't know, both teams play badly. Any result will be fine.

Portugal 0 - 2. I don't like Portugal, so i vote Brazil to win even if she has proceeded to next round.

Chile 2 - 0 Spain. Spain is my top hated team, so go chile

Switzerland 1 - 0 Honduras.

I just can't believe the 2006 finalists have been knocked out so early... Just to show how much a team can evolve in four years.

Anyway, I'm very excited to see England vs Germany with the winner going to face the winner Argentina vs Mexico. Btw, Argentina are definitely the favourites this year along with Brazil.

gonna win

Heh, I expected Italy to make it farther.. Ah well guess they weren't as good as they were 4 years ago....

It is such a shame talents like Tiago and Cristiano Ronaldo are being wasted on the pitch.

They would certainly have better lives as actors.

EDIT: Pepe should've been red carded right away. That was fucking disgusting.

EDIT v2: What a weak ref. He doesn't know how to use his cards properly. Coentrao's yellow was stupid, so was Melo's and Luis Fabiano's. Pepe should have been sent off right away. Meireles deserved a yellow for that studs up tackle around the 20th minute.

Pepe is such a dirty shit, and that's not only from watching him this match. And he's pretty crap for the money Madrid paid for him. Loves giving but can't handle receiving.

Unsurprised that Brazil took Melo off...he gets a load of red cards.

If Portugal get Ronaldo support then they could get a goal on the counter attack. I'm kinda watching to see if someone goes mental right now.

Ivory coast vs north Korea seems like a better game, 2 goals so far and Ivory coast look like they'll be scoring at least a few more

ill probably switch between games when one gets boring

seven yellow cards, half-time, this referee needs to calm the fuck down

The likes of Melo and Pepe haven't given him much choice. And Juan, doing his best Michael Jordan (or Thierry Henry?) impression. Pepe could have been sent off if he'd got booked for his earlier foul on Melo. Or he could have been sent off for what he did to Melo the second time, since studs on the achilles is very dangerous and it was clearly deliberate.

seven yellow cards, half-time, this referee needs to calm the fuck down

Juan's (handball), Duda's (appealing to the decision) and Tiago's (diving) cards were totally justified. The other 3 cards (Luis Fabiano, Melo, Coentrao) I disagree with. However, Pepe should have been sent off directly instead of receiving a yellow for that disgusting tackle (?!) and Meireles definately deserved a yellow for that studs up tackle on Dani Alves.

stopped watching at 65', got really boring so i switched to ivory coast vs north korea. it was better but neither game was anything special

brazil 0-0 portugal

ivory coast 3-0 north korea, romaric + kalou + yaya toure

bipolar ref: 7 cards on the first half, 0 on the second

game ends 0-0, not a bad result for either team, especially Portugal, who defended near-perfectly for 2/3 of the match, and had, without a doubt, the best scoring opportunities (Ronaldo, Simão, Danny).

I had a series of heart attacks when the game started because we were basically just waiting for them to go into our 18 yard box, then we started pressuring them like an amateur team. Very good play on the second half, especially Coentrão. I'm going to go as far as to say Coentrão is, so far, (one of) the best Left Back(s) on the World Cup so far. This kid is only 22 and he has one hell of a promising career in front of him.

On a note to the North Korea - Cote D'Ivoire game, I have yet to see the goals. As for North Korea... well, what's to say? 3 games, 3 losses, 1 goal scored against 12 goals suffered, which is a goal difference of -11, which is the biggest negative goal difference on this world cup by far (mostly because of Portugal).

I'd sure hate to be a North Korean player heading back home right now...

I disagree, but only because you guys are sort of outsiders. Cheering for Portugal, my heart nearly stopped a few times

I can understand how it could be boring to neutral fans though

Now let's hope Spain either finishes second or doesn't qualify at all. I'd hate to see Spain vs Portugal stopping us at our tracks

If Spain manages a second place, they'll play against Brazil, imagine Spain vs Brazil, it would be an epic match

Portugal is hard to watch for me, while a very talented... I don't think there's another team in the tournament that flops as much. Which is my biggest issue with this sport. The diving is unreal.

Neither team needed to win, so I was expecting a boring game.

I'm not a neutral, and I still thought the game was boring as hell. Portugal dives too much, Cristiano Ronaldo doesn't play nearly as good as he thinks he plays. Lots of useless movements.

The game should have been decided on Nilmar's first touch on the ball, except for a great save from Eduardo.

Brazil can't play without Kaká, Julio Baptista doesn't even deserve to be there.

I think the problem with Cristiano Ronaldo today was how his position conflicted with his playstyle. From what I can tell he usually prefers cutting in from either the left or right side of the pitch before passing it to a team-mate in the opponents' box. Because he was always the furthest up Brazil's side of the pitch this time round, there was never anyone to cross to when he was in possession, so he ended up having to take shots from a hell of a distance/angle.

if mexico beat Argetnina and England beat Germany, england face a team they beat before the world cup began :D

The problem is Argentina is never going to lose against Mexico. If England didn't play like shit against USA and Algeria they would have gotten easier matches. Now they have to face Germany, if they do win they face Argentina. Even if they have arguably the best coach in the world (Capello), I don't think England have the potential to win this World Cup.
