Team Smackdown! An Ubers RMT!

Hello, I'm MixedCalibur, or you could just call me Will. This is my first post on the Smogon forums so I hope to make it a good one. Anway, I'm a complete newcomer in Ubers, but I've been testing this team in Pokemon Online, and it's doing fairly decent. Any help is greatly appreciated!

The whole idea of this team is to hit hard and force switches. You won't see many of these guys OHKO anything without help. The goal is to setup entry hazards, maybe a leech seed, and take em down chunk by chunk.

Let's take a look in-depth. Changes in bold.

57_primeape_2_m.png

Primeape @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Vital Spirit
EVs: 252 ATK 252 SPE 4 HP
Nature: Jolly
- Close Combat
- U-Turn
- Ice Punch
- Punishment

This thing likes to deal the first blow. There are almost no scarf leads in Ubers, bar Kyogre, and Primeape wants to hit and run. U-turn for those psychics, Close Combat for STAB and to take down all those steels and Darkrai in One to Two hits. Ice Punch for Rayquaza and Shaymin, then Punishment for Mewtwo and Calm Mind Lugia. There's nothing in ubers that Primeape can't touch, and that's what makes him so useful.

150_mewtwo_2_m.png

Mewtwo @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SPATK 252 SPE 4 HP
Nature: Timid
- Calm Mind
- Taunt
- Ice Beam
- Aura Sphere

This thing has proven to be a dangerous late game sweeper. After a few calm minds, not even the bulky Latias can take an Ice Beam at full health. Taunt is there to stop walls and others from trying to wear down Mewtwo with toxic or more specifically at Lugia, roost stalling. BeamSphere provides great coverage, and Mewtwo tends to have an easy sweep once his direct counters are gone. I chose Mewtwo because I've seen him work fabulously with Primeape AND Dialga both, helping to cover each other's weaknesses.
205_forretress_2_m.png

Forretress @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP 112 ATK 144 defense
Nature: Relaxed
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes
- Explosion
- Payback

This guy is here to set up my hazards. Payback is chosen over Gyro Ball because it'll hit Giratina-O hard, and hit Mewtwo hard on the switch. This was going to originally be my lead, but I decided against it. The goal is to switch into a physical attacker, then get up as much as possible. I also like switching into walls and setting up then, the ideal switch would be Deoxys-S. Rapid spin helps Shaymin get in with ease, and I'm still debating on whether or not to use Explosion. I went with Explosion over Rapid Spin because my team doesn't really need the spin support, and forry exploding is my only chance at taking out Groudon.

483_dialga_2_m.png

Dialga @ Expert Belt
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SPATK 136 ATK 120HP
Nature: Quiet
- Draco Meteor
- Brick Break
- Thunder
- Fire Blast

Dialga loves to absolutely decimate physical walls like Lugia, with enough attack to handle Blissey. It also has enough bulk to take a few hits, being able to finish off already weakened opponents. The coverage is so great on Dialga, I decided to stick an expert belt on him over Life Orb. The reason I picked Dialga over Palkia is the typing, I hate that Palkia is part Water. So, enter: Dialga.

484_palkia_2_m.png

Palkia @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SPATK 252 SPE 4 ATK
Nature: Hasty
- Draco Meteor
- Outrage
- Surf
- Thunder

I've realized now that Groudon is completely unnecessary and does nothing for this team. I lacked speed and I was left powerless against the likes of priority users like Rayquaza and Linoone (I'M NOT KIDDING THAT THING RAPED ME) and so, Scarf Palkia seems like the perfect fit. This thing is here with it's monstrous base 150 Special attack to take a huge chunk out of ANYTHING bar Blissey. Even then Outrage is going to do quite a lot.

492_shaymin_sky_2_m.png

Shaymin-S @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 SPATK 252 SPE 4 SPDEF
Nature:
- Substitute
- Leech Seed
- Seed Flare
- Air Slash

Shaymin likes to wear down the opponent with constant subbing and health stealing, then when given the chance, hitting em for the KO. I chose Shaymin because he fit the role of sub-seeder fabulously. This thing is Kyogre's worst nightmare if switched in correctly, and he's caused my opponents a lot of stress and frustration, which is something I strive for of course.

And that's it! Again, be gentle, this is my first ever Ubers... encounter.

Thanks for reading!

Regards,
Will :*

Run payback over gyro ball on forry as in ubers, you need that gira-o coverage and payback should do more damage to stuff like mewtwo anyway. Your team needs a priority user and/or a scarfer to beat these fast pokemon like mewtwo. For that reason, I recommend chucking in a scarf palkia and/or a rayquaza to your team over groudon and/or shaymin. Also, I believe that there are scarf leads in ubers, namely deoxys-s, darkrai, shaymin and kyogre.

I've tested all of your changes and they work fabulously. Thank you!

Possibly Draco Meteor over Spacial Rend? Okay 2 DMs does more than 2 Spacial Rends. 210+105>150+150. A little bit more but its just a suggestion. The first extra Oomph in power may just provide the needed damage for Mewtwo to sweep. But its just a thought.

You should add a priority user like rayquaza though as when your primeape U-turns deoxys-s, you need a priority user to finish it. Also, forry must have rappid spine as that is what separates it from skarmory so put rapid spin over explosion.

Punishment should definitely go over Stone Edge on Primape since it really helps with your Mewtwo/Latias weakness (if your Mewtwo loses the Speed tie, it's going to lose). Stone Edge doesn't really do much aside from hit Lugia for more damage, who laughs at Stone Edge coming from a 305 attack >_>

Thanks! I'll do that.

Eh, I don't think priority is necessary. Scarf Primeape doesn't outspeed Deoxys, but he's not a real problem anyway. And I need explosion on Forry for Rayquaza.

I did notice that I was never using Stone Edge, and Punishment seems obvious now. Dx Thanks for the tip, I'll put that in.

You still have a serious SD Rayquaza weakness,it doesn't have many chances to set up on you but if it does you have nothing that can take it on if Mewtwo has taken any damage.

I recommend dropping Palkia for a ScarfChomp,it can take the +2 ES and hit back with an Outrage/Dclaw.

Another option would be changing your Dialga to a scarfed one, though that would be a huge change in roles-probably not the best idea since nothing can really replace a mixed Dialga, that would seal the deal with your Rayquaza weakness though.

Rayquaza always EQ's Dialga,so you outspeed and OHKO and if they go for ES for some reason it obviously isn't doing much.

You could also drop Shaymin though 3 scarfers is really redundant, you would definitely want to come up with something that isn't choiced.

You should really consider a Deoxys Speed lead, you say you have to have entry hazards for your team to work..but Forretress isn't a very reliable spiker, you're better off going with a Deoxys lead which can almost always get up SR and 1-2 layers of spikes.

You can still keep Primeape if you really want to,just not in the lead position.

Also, even with all the scarfing going on you should really consider Scizor for his priority, and just because he's so useful.

You don't have to make all of these changes, but I highly recommend you do something about the Rayquaza weakness..one mistake and you could easily lose a game with no reliable check to one of the biggest threats in the tier.

Hmm... Scarfchomp sounds cool, but what about Gengar with HP Ice? Rayquaza can't outspeed and hit it if it's Swords Dance, plus I can block the incoming rapid spin.

What do you think?

Yes, I second the switch to ScarfChomp. SD Ray pummels this team. I'd also suggest either replacing Spikes or Explosion with Rapid Spin for Forretress, since there is nothing you can do to stop Deoxys-S spam two layers, and SD Extremespeed completely gimps this team if that happens. Here's ScarfChomp btw:

Garchomp @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
Nature: Jolly
-Outrage
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge
-Dragon Claw

I agree with Punishment, but I don't agree with replacing Stone Edge. This team has a huge Ho-oh weakness. Stone Edge helps alleviate this somewhat, so replace Ice Punch for it (Stone Edge still hurts Ray and Skymin massively).

I also see a problem with RP Groudon, since the only thing that can stop it is Forretress and Exploding on it (Which is bad). I know Primeape is probably the star of this team, which means I probably can't suggest it gets changed (It's really out of place). If you don't mind replacing Primeape, however, I'd suggest replacing it with Mixed Rayquaza and then Scarfing Shaymin-S:

Rayquaza @ Life Orb
Ability: Air Lock
EVs: 40 Atk/252 SpA/216 Spe
Nature: Hasty
-Draco Meteor
-Fire Blast/Flamethrower
-Extremespeed
-Brick Break

And Scarf Shaymin-S:

Shaymin-S @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 4 HP/252 SpA/252 Spe
Nature: Timid
-Seed Flare
-Air Slash
-HP Ice
-Earth Power

If you don't want to replace Primeape, I'd still suggest Scarfing Shaymin-S and maybe give try out Choice Band on Primeape (Two revenge killers on the same team is pointless), and move Skymin to lead position.

Hope I helped, good luck!!

I personally think that you need a priority user like rayquaza or scizor over shaymin as otherwise, things like deo-a will go crazy. In my opinion, spacial rend is better than DM on palkia as if it needs to do consistent damage or someone switches something in after the revenge and palkia can kill with spacial rend not a -2 DM.
