With pure dragon typing, along with more defensive stat spread and Shed Skin, I think it would be a totally different beast than Mence or DNite (although those comparisons are inevitable). The most plausible stat spread I can think of would be something like this...

HP: 111 (+50)
ATK: 94 (+10)
DEF: 115 (+50)
SATK: 90 (+20)
SDEF: 110 (+40)
SPD: 80 (+10) BST 600

Something like that?

I'd go for something a little more offensive, like...

HP : 101 (+40)
ATK: 104 (+20)
DEF: 115 (+50)
SATK: 100 (+30)
SDEF: 110 (+40)
SPD: 70 (+-0)
BST 600

But that's just me.

And then, what do we make of the movepool? Will it be similar to DNite's or very different?

On another note, am I the only one who thinks that the ability thick fat isn't being used to its full potential? A pokemon like Foretress or ANY 4X ice weak pokemon would KILL for that kind of ability.

Why would Forretress get Thick Fat though? It's a bag worm, made of steel... Not really fatty. It just wouldn't make sense :p

BUT Dragonite definitely should get it as an alternative ability to Inner Focus. Sure, it's nice not flinching but Thick Fat would be so much better. He's already kinda bulky and he looks chubby, too (awesome cute chubby :3). I never understood why he got it. Thankfully he got ExtremeSpeed again... I never understood why they didn't just give it to Dragonite as a level-up move, because he can fly around the world in a short amount of time [According to the Pokedex]. -crosses fingers for Thick Fat Dragonite-


Also, I agree on a pseudo-legendary that is special based opposed to physically based.
 
I'd want a dragon more like this:

HP: 130
ATK: 50
DEF:100
SATK:120
SDEF: 130
SPD: 70

Otherwise, the ultimate tank/special sweeper.

I'd like to think of Electula as an Ariados evolution, if only because its design is so similar, from what we've seen so far...I'd be disappointed if the design of a completely new and unrelated Pokemon were so uninspired.
Gothdevoir seems one of the most intriguing new Pokemon, to me...but nobody's talking about it... :(

Ariados is not getting an evolution. It is not going to evolve into a different species with a completely different color scheme.

Thick Fat Dnite would pwn. 4X fire resist and Ice Moves wouldn't be a big deal any more.

I KNOW it wouldn't make sense on Foretress, but even so, he'd kill for an ability like Thick Fat.

Did I mention it was a Fighting type with Close Combat and base 80 attack? :P

The alternate Nair evo should be bulkier I think, like Shroomisaur's stat spread. The only problem is, Dragonite seems in between the lines of "Super Offensive Fast Pokemon (Mence)" and "Bulky Wall Support Hard-Hitter-but-slow Pokemon", so this alternate evolution would need to vastly differentiate itself from Nite.

Well, considering the nature of this evo is a classic eastern dragon (no limbs) it would not have the punch attacks that DNite has, and no Dragon Claw or such Physical attacks either (Superpower/E-speed?). Certainly, the movepool limitations of being limb-less would make it a more defensive evolution, which is why I agree with your increasing Special Attack more than Physical attack - it would probably make more use of Bolt/Beam for coverage.

It WOULD retain roost, however, given the fact that Dragonair already has wings on it's head, and an evolution would likely take them even further. What do you think?

Deoxys has like, nearly that exact spread except -10 for all defensive stats and +10 into all offensive stats and Speed. :p
 
Do you think Giratina-O and Skymin will be able to be used over WiFi now? They couldn't last gen because of Diamond and Pearl, but maybe they can this gen? Not that it matters -that- much I guess lol. Giratina is one of my favorite designs... :3

The way metagames have evolved, literally every OU in Gen V will be this with base 120 STAB(s). Every game will be a coin toss of who gets to go first and that will determine the winner.

Not so sure, I think the wings growing and the use of roost would require Levitate over Shed skin, which isn't what we're going for at all. I'd like to see recover instead.

With a more special offense in mind, I'd like to propose a different stat spread, similar somewhat to the one I suggested before:

HP : 101 (+40)
ATK: 84 (+-0)
DEF: 115 (+50)
SATK: 120 (+50)
SDEF: 110 (+40)
SPD: 70 (+-0)
BST 600

The alternate evo needs all the special attack power it could get, otherwise Blissey walks all over it, if we are taking that route. I'd also give it Aura Sphere for the Dragon-Fighting coverage, and pack Flamethrower or Earth for other steels, or Thunder Wave for support/disruption. In the last slot, obviously, it would have recover. That's how I'd play it.

Or if we're going a physical route...

HP : 101 (+40)
ATK: 124 (+40)
DEF: 115 (+50)
SATK: 70 (+-0)
SDEF: 120 (+50)
SPD: 70 (+-0)
BST 600

For its ability, I'd consider changing it from Shed Skin to Compoundeyes, for the sake of Dragon Rush, the best Physical Dragon move you have left barring outrage. Pack EQ, a fire-typed Dragon Rush (let's hope lol) and recover and you're good to go. Or you can drop the fire move for Thunder wave or something to that extent. That's how I'd play it.

It'd really be great either way...

Considering that Altaria is The Best Pokemon, it doesn't need an evolution, it just needs a unique ability and a unique Flying Attack That Is Not Shit (hah).

I never understood why it wasn't pure flying ...

This I would settle for,just give it Cloud Nine to be a anti-weather,but why they never gave it Cloud Nine I will never know,its a flippin cloud. It really does need a good flying attack instead of alot of singing based crap
And for the last time,nothing can be only flying because of ROOST!

And Ericcc just started a wave of Mijimaru love.
