Nuzlocke Challenge

I decided to start this with HG a couple days ago.
Rules: Fainted=Dead
First pokemon that I don't have must be caught
Set battle style.
I have beaten bugsy, but not without casualties.

In party:
Croco the croconaw lv. 18
Arachno the spinarak lv. 16
Lavos the slugma lv. 16
Venus the bellsprout lv. 16
Spear the spearow lv. 10
Sandman the drowzee lv. 10

Oh and
In cryo
Batty the zubat
Genesis the togepi
Savant the slowpoke
Monarch the caterpie

Dead
Fang the rattata
Killed by bugsy's scyther
Sage the hoothoot
Killed by bugsy's scyther

I do not like bugsy

Bah, humbug.

I might do a Colors Plus run, depending on how masochistic I feel.

First badge giver has blue team, with Perish Song Wynaut. It's a crazy fucking hack.

Ah yes, that first gym leader. I happen to be good friends with him. He has a nice name, to... "Troll Mattman"

(Yes, the team was entirely my design. Except Perish Song. But otherwise, all me.)

For anyone planning to do it on HGSS, one important note is that Morty's Gengar has only one move that can damage Normal-types: Sucker Punch.

Ergo, any Normal type that can do any non-attacking move while it burns up it's 5PP can then beat Gengar easily.

Rules
1.If a pokemon dies it is sent to a box marked Dead
2.1 pokemon per route and it has to be the first one I see. (in the case of the Great Marsh I can catch more than 1 pokemon but I am only allowed to enter the place once).
3.All caught pokemon must have a Nickname
4.Trading is allowed but there are restrictions. For example In-game tades are fine and I am allowed to trade with my frends DS soley to evolve my own pokemon. I cannot recieve any nw Items or pok from any oer DS
5.Legendaries are not to be used but can be caught. (Rotom ian exception to this rule (I don't regard it as a legendary) provided that it stays in its Normal form (ie no Secret Key)
6.Poke Balls are resricted
7.No healing items allowed in battles unless e have been picked up. The one exception to this rule is at the Eliete 4 pokemon center/mart when I alowed to by a small number of Healing Items
8.Gift Pokemon are allowed
9. If I see a duplicate of a pokemon I have already caught I can skip it and instead get the first pokemon that I do not own.

Well if you hated my last nuzlocke thing then tough, I am doing another one. The issue is that I am up to the 7th badge and, while I made notes on important happenings, I don't know my Pokémon’s levels at certain stages of the game, so basically until we get to Snowpoint City you cannot get the Levels of my Pokémon.....sorry!

So from the Beginning......

"Alexis"! someone shouted the tone undeniably masculine. I scowled and opened my eyes before awakening fully. “Barry, GET OUT”! I yell at my friend. Barry. To his credit, stood his ground. “You promised that you would go to the Lake with me” he whined. I was frustrated, true I had agreed to this pathetic game but I had not expected to be woken up by my friend at 6am! I gave a deep sigh, “Fine Barry just let me get ready” I say resigning myself to the fact that I was unlikely to sleep if I refused him.
After 30 minutes of speed dressing Barry and I left Twinleaf. Once there we came across some old man. He introduced himself as Professor Roan and after some discussion he offered to give Barry and I a Pokémon of our own. I chose the penguin Pokémon Piplup and named it Bi Polar because, well…… It was. On my travels to Oreburgh city I caught a Bidoof which I called Nip, a Starly which I named Engel and a Machop which I called Jet Lee. Quite frankly the gym was a breeze as was the gym at Floaroma town. I traded my Machop for an Abra named Kazza at Oreburgh and with it and Engel (now a Staravia) she proved no contest. After the Battle I found and caught a Gible named Tempest. I received no trouble from anything until I arrived at Hearthome city. I picked up and Eevee there and decided to keep it how it was deciding that if I lost an important member of my party, Eevee could always step in for it. Fantina however, proved very difficult. My Kazza managed to crush both Duskull and Haunter but Mismagius proved troublesome. Kazza managed to strike first with a Psybeam. I was confident that I had the battle won until the smoke had cleared and it was still standing. Fantina ordered a Shadow Ball which Kazza………. Survived! With a bare 3 health remaining Kazza, drawing on its last reserves, was able to end Mismagius with a second Psybeam. Feeling confident I continued on until I arrived at Veilstone City. I received a Porygon here and named it Cyber. The gym leader of Veilstone was simple as Engel and Sparky (my Rotom) took her down with little effort. My 5th badge was exceptionally difficult. Gyarados was crushed by Sparky however Wake then brought out a Floatzel. Sparky was able cripple it with a Shock wave before succumbing to a Crunch. I was heartbroken. Sparky had been with me for a while and its death struck a deep cord within me. Determined it was by Engel who avenged my Sparky. Engel also defeated Wake’s Quagsire without much effort before evolving into a Staraptor.
The next tough battle I had was between 2 Ace Trainers in a tag battle. I sent out my Empoleon and my Kazza to face off against his Gyarados. Kazza and my Bipolar managed to beat the Raichu but Kazza could not survive an Aqua tail from Gyarados. Engel managed to defeat it with the help of my Bipolar but I had suffered a great loss. Kazza had gotten my third badge single handily, and for that I will always be grateful. After the loss of Kazza I may well have ventured into a spiral of despair had I now had a surprise encounter. While walking through the grass, still despairing over my loss I encountered a….. Chansey (holy crap!). After much difficulty It was captured with my only Luxury Ball. I named it Hope for it gave me hope when I needed it the most. After this I went into high intensity training. I managed to find a Magmar (named Fire Storm) which I managed to put to good effect in facing Byron. I was just about to leave for Snowpoint City when I felt the huge BOOM. Realising that something terrible had occurred at the Lake I flew there immediately. When I arrived I was shocked. There was now a huge crater where the Lake had been. Furious at this act I moves through Team Galactic at both Lake Verity and Lake Valour, crushing them but not before they had captured the 3 Legendary Pokémon of the Lake. After beating Candice I was finally able to enter Lake Acuity where I found Barry. He was sitting on the grass in tears. He told me that he had been unable to stop Galactic having lost to Jupiter. I was kind of shocked. Barry was normally so easy going and happy. Seeing him like this was, unsettling to say the least. I left Barry sitting there while I made plans to rescue the Lake Pokémon from the Galactic Headquarters.

O.K guys I am thinking seriously about my team for the Eliete 4. Currently my team above is what I am planning on but should I try something else or get different moves?

Pokemon I have in my Box (quick list I will not give nicknames)
Duskull
Bronzer
Driftloon
Marril
Togepi
Rhyhorn
Hounder
Bibiral
Bidoof
Tangela
Yanma
Eevee
Rilou
Sneasel
Snorunt
Snover

Should I stick with what I have or train up something like Hounder for Lucian or something. I like Blissey since it walls pokemon like Milotic which I may have issues with otherwise. Suggestions are welcomed for my team
Have a Nice Day!

I'm gona do a more lenient Nuzlocke run of Platinum, because I'm a pussy.

- No balls better than Poke Balls except ones I pick up.
- Fainted pokemon are to be released, except shinies and one-of-a-kind mons, which get boxed.
- Only one wild Pokemon per route, but I get to pick. If I find a shiny after that, I'll catch it but box it.

I'll update with my progress later.

i changed my mind to do firered. I've only gotten to beating Gary, and I've only got 2 done, but the others will be up momentarely. Also, I did these with paint and I have crappy art skills. Also, from panel 2 on, I will be red, gary will be pink. (Profeser DM is purple)

Started on Emerald however im using potions (antidotes, ect.) , only if I find them during my travels.

Team so far:
Balthier (Treecko) Level 14
Naughty

Ashe (Wingull) Level 6
Modest (Yeah!)

Basch (Shroomish) Level 10
Mild

Penelo (Dustox) Level 10
Bold

Gabranth (Abra) Level 7
Brave

My challenge on Emerald came to a rather brutal and unsatisfying end.

Wobbuffet is my new nemesis.

Although he may or may not be less annoying than having to capture 5 or 6 Houndeynas :(

Maybe I'm missing something, but how in the hell did a Gabite pop up as your first encounter in a cave? Maybe you had a Zubat and a Geodude in your party so you skip them?

well in platinum you dont need strength to access the basement of wayward cave, and gible have a 20% chance of appearing. the fact that he got a chansey as his first encounter is more amazing (5% chance according to serebii). but to do that you would need to go back down a route you already went through, so that means you didnt encounter anything during the first run through?

Chansey wouldn't necessarily have to be a first encounter since he fixed the rules so that if he already owns one of the first encounter Pokemon he can skip to the next one. He could work it so that he owns every other Pokemon likely to appear, so that any Chansey appearance would be legal to catch.

Well I did not see a Gibile "first" either since I saw a few Bronzor in the cave. However I already had a Bronzer from Mt Cornet so I was able to skip it.

Chansey was really just pure luck. I again saw a few Staravia but to be brutally honest I did not even know that Chansey was even found in that area of Grass. (I has hoping to find a syther).

Guess it was once of those really lucky things I guess. Its curious but I get better luck doing a Nuzlocke challenge than when I play through normally.

This looks like a lot of fun. I might give this a go on SoulSilver.

Would Wi-Fi event Pokemon like Jirachi be considered legal for a Nuzlocke challenge?

Update! (Sorry about lack of terrible MS Paint comic)

So uh, after calling my rival "a jerk" (should've capitalised it) I decided to go with Turtwig, because he's a pimpin motherfucka. Just look at that sweet, sweet overbite. He's called Rincewind.

After some random shit involving retarded help sequences, I get some balls (now I have eight!), go back to route 201 and catch a Starly (my rules are more lenient becuase I'm a pussy). I call her Stephanie.

After some grinding (bum chikaa wow wow) I go and catch a Shinx (nicknamed Kimba) in Route 202 and trash some trainers. After that I nearly end up with a dead Shinx because of Tackle's dick-sucking 95% accuracy. Then I stopped playing and here I am.

Turtwig (Impish) *Rincewind* - Male
Level 9

Starly (Hasty) *Stephanie* - Female
Level 7

Shinx (Careful) *Kimba* - Female
Level 7

More on my HG run. I have just defeated whitney. Deaths have shot up due to wild pokemon getting criticals on my pokemon. Is anyone else having this problem or am I just an idiot? In anycase I defeated Whitney and her stupid cow without losing anyone

im in! i'll be doing this on emeralld, and will make it like a fanfic. THE RULEZ

1.can only catch first poke on route
2.Cant buy any higher ball than poke
3. Must store in box if faints, its dead
4. Must nickname all

Seeing how I've nuzlocked at least one game of each of the cartridge series, I might do Black/White when I obtain it. Till then, I might screw around playing Yellow or Crystal, which are by far my favorite games to Nuzlocke.

My first attempt at a Nuzlocke in SS ended in utter disaster at the hands of Falkner's Pidgeotto :( Not to mention i had some outright shitty Pokemon come my way.

Basic rules:

* Faint = release
* SET mode
* Nicknames
* No buying any items from the Pokemart
* Item usage is unlimited
* First unique wild Pokemon, you must catch. Fail to catch = screwed. Duplicates don't count.
* No trades, no eggs, no Pokewalker, no Gamecorner prizes.
* Gifted Pokemon (like Togepi and Bill's Eevee) don't count.
* No legendaries

Picked Cyndaquil, named it Yuma. Hit Route 29, defeated a Pidgey before I had any Pokeballs, so no Pokemon allowed in Route 29. Somehow made it to Mr. Pokemon's house and back to Cherrygrove City without fighting any wild Pokemon. Barely defeated the Rival. Get my Pokedex, first 5 Pokeballs. Head up to Route 46 hoping for a Geodude, get a level 3 Rattata instead (nickname Goodyear).

Now for the fucked up part. I hit Route 30, and the first Pokemon I fight is...Kakuna, level 4. Of all the Pokemon in Route 30, I get the most utterly useless!!! Oh well, capture it, but it takes THREE Pokeballs, even with it at 1 HP. Nickname it Globe.

Fight my way up to Route 31, catch a level 4 Pidgey (Surprise). Route 32, first Pokemon is Rattata but due to my duplicate clause I skip it. Next is a level 6 Bellsprout I capture (nicknamed Litchfield), but to be honest I was hoping for a Mareep for Falkner.

Head to the Dark Cave for another chance at a Geodude. Come across a level 2, and as luck would have it my god damned rat-ass Goodyear kills it in one lucky crit. I swear I want to kill that rat bastard at this point.

Spent a little time leveling my Yuma, Goodyear, and Surprise to 10, then I go up the sprout tower and lay waste. Only trainer to give me trouble is Elder Li and his damn Hoothoot, who gets two lucky Hypnosis off on Yuma. I still win.

Now it's time for the gym. The first two bird trainers are easy pickings for rat-ass Goodyear. Falkner on the other hand goes down like this.

Surprise and his Pidgey exchange Gusts. His Pidgey goes down but leaves Surprise with 2/3 HP. Pidgeotto comes out, I Gust and he Gusts. My Gust barely dents him, but leaves poor Surprise nearly dead. I switch to Yuma. Gust crits instantly and takes Yuma down to nearly dead. Potion. Sadly Yuma's Ember attack isn't all that great. Gust crits again! Kills poor Yuma. Then Goodyear. Then Surprise. Then Litchfield. And lastly useless Globe. Game Over.

I'll get you next time Falkner! Next time!

On the plus side, at least I got another Jirachi out of it from the Pokemart. Next time I'm definitely leveling a bit higher for Falkner (and hopefully next time I get a Geodude and/or a Mareep, and no god damn Kakunas!)

That's really up to you on how strict you want to be regarding No Items.

I probably should just sell them it says in the rules no healing items. As long as pokemon centres are allowed I should be fine.

I'll be starting the challenge tomorrow on pokemon ruby
