Team "Faster Than You"

Hi, this is my second RMT. It's a bit of a gimmick, the gimmick being that I want to go first a lot. It most likely loses to stall due to the overall lack of power as a result.

So, first, at a glance, we have:

Azelf @ Focus Sash
focus-sash.png

Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Spd / 252 SAtk
Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Stealth Rock
- Thunderbolt
- Explosion
- Taunt

More or less the standard lead Azelf. I chose Thunderbolt over Psychic or Fire Blast in order to have the best neutral coverage among the current OU metagame. I chose Azelf because Stealth Rock is a great help and Azelf is one of the better independent leads at achieving it while still dealing major damage before going out - its Explosion is extremely helpful as a last strike before it goes out, or to just to take down certain anti-leads that I won't want to answer later.

Metagross @ Life Orb
life-orb.png

Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 112 HP / 252 Atk / 12 Def / 132 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Agility
- Meteor Mash
- Earthquake
- ThunderPunch

This is, stat for stat, the standard AgiliGross build. Even with its relative predictability, a Metagross running on 418 speed and 405 attack is incredibly hard to play around unless met by its dedicated counter, Rotom-A.

Scizor (M) @ Life Orb
life-orb.png

Trait: Technician
EVs: 180 Atk / 176 Spd / 148 SAtk
IVs: 31 HP / 30 Att / 31 Def / 30 Spd / 28 SAtk / 31 SDef
Naughty Nature (+Atk, -SDef)
- Agility
- Superpower
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Bullet Punch

This is a bit of a silly build. This is the Scizor that comes in on an opposing Scizor and sets up. With the given speed EVs, Agility will allow it to outspeed and OHKO a ScarfTran if it decides to switch in, while (with significant SAtk investment due to Scizor's horrible base 50 SAtk) HP Fire will OHKO the given CB Scizor set on Smogon after Stealth Rock. For the final slot I chose Bullet Punch in case I'd ever need Scizor to just priority something without having time to set up speed.

Lucario (M) @ Life Orb
life-orb.png

Trait: Steadfast
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Agility
- Close Combat
- Crunch
- Ice Punch

Agility Lucario can surprise a lot of people attempting to switch for a quick check, like Gengar, Heatran, Salamence, etc. He doesn't hit quite as hard as the Swords Dance variant, but he works great when just cleaning up the remainder after the rest of my team has had its way with the opponents.

Porygon-Z @ Life Orb
life-orb.png

Trait: Adaptability
EVs: 124 HP / 132 Spd / 252 SAtk
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Agility
- Tri Attack
- Dark Pulse
- Hidden Power [Fighting]

This thing hits absurdly hard. EVs were put into HP to give it a little bit more survivability, with enough speed to outrun a +Spd Choice Scarfed base 100. Having the highest Special Attack in OU, boosted by Life Orb, along with an incredibly powerful STAB in Tri Attack, along with excellent coverage in Dark Pulse and HP Fighting, Porygon-Z will definitely leave a large mark of destruction before it goes down, if allowed to set up.

Jolteon (M) @ Choice Specs
choice-specs.png

Trait: Volt Absorb
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Spd / 252 SAtk
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Baton Pass
- Hidden Power [Grass]

Jolteon's just here because he STABs Thunderbolt and kills stuff. I didn't really put too much thought in this sixth slot, since I ran out of good things that ran Agility (though Jolteon can use Agility, I don't see how it'd really help matters at all), but the raw power of Jolteon's Thunderbolt has been very satisfactory for me.

Basically put a Pokémon in, Agility up, take as many things as possible down before finally dying to either Life Orb recoil or some revenge killer, then repeat the process. Jolteon can function as a revenge, a cleaner, a check, and in some hilarious cases a mid-game sweeper. Cry when stall tells me my lack of mixed options are never going to let me out-tempo.

Hello!

Really?!?! 4 agility users? At the most 2, but 4 is ridiculous. Anyways, I suggest that switch either lucario or scizor for old mixmence to help deal with stall better. Keep agility on metagross and switch porygon-z to choice scarf porygon-z.

I would opt for lucario being switched out for SD Infernape because after SD even CB zor is KOed by CC followed by mach punch.

Good Luck!

I'd like to suggest another gimmick; Ninjask. While I don't normally approve of Ninjask, the Speed Boost ability comboed with Protect and Swords Dance can lead to a very reliable +2 Speed +2 Attack pass to Metagross, Scizor, or Lucario, all of which are devastating.

You also seriously need a Fire move absorber.

I gotta say, 3 weaknesses to fire and ground really isnt doing your team any favours. i would consider throwing DDance Gyarados into the mix, it patches some weaknesses, provides synergy with Jolteon, and can possess the speed you are looking for.

If you're really looking for versatility with Agility users, you do have a few more options. With that much needed Fire-resist, Dragonite's a neat one.

Dragonite (M) @ Life Orb / Dragon Fang
Trait: Inner Focus
EVs: 82 Atk / 252 SpA / 174 Spe
Naive nature (+Spe, -SpD) / Hasty nature (+Spe, -Def)

- Agility
- Draco Meteor
- Outrage
- Earthquake / Fire Blast

Ah, custom sets are so much fun. Life Orb gives you more overall power, but Dragon Fang gives a nice boost to Draco Meteor and Outrage, while also giving you the ability to bluff a Choice set. The EVs given along with a +Spe nature let you outrun Timid Choice Scarf Gengar after an Agility, but if that's not a problem you can go with 52 Atk / 252 SpA / 204 Spe and a Rash nature to outspeed Jolly Scarf Flygon. A mixed set is preferred so the set isn't outclassed by DDNite. Earthquake is probably your best option in the last slot, to help with your Heatran problem. But if you're having trouble with Scizor you can try Fire Blast.

Other options include Empoleon and Zapdos, but those two are much more standard, so I think you can figure them out on your own. :)

Hope it helps.

I don't think Ninjask would quite work here. My objective is to outpace the generally offensive metagame, which at best typically run some form of priority to shut down the Swords Dance, and at worst give me only a +1 speed boost due to being a Taunt lead.

I agree with needing something to deal with having three Steel types and an Electric type.

Gyarados is pretty cool, but everyone seems to have a way to shut him down nowadays. Whether it's some Scarf user running Thunderbolt or even just a defensive Jirachi, things get rather annoying when I'm forced to switch out right after Dragon Dancing, especially when switching into Rocks.

That Dragonite set looks interesting. I'll experiment with it a bit and let you know how it goes.

I don't think you get the meaning of Team "Faster Than You." An Infernape still runs at the sight of a ScarfTran. MixMence is cool but ultimately gets revenged by something faster when it's forced to lock into Outrage. Choice Scarf Porygon-Z never did me any favors, especially when they start things off by switching into Gengar to stop my STAB Tri Attack and win a free turn. With Agility, it runs extra fast and deals even more damage than if it were Scarfed. Lucario might still be leaving the team, though, depending on circumstances.
