Oh Hi, Rush released Singles from their next album, Clockwork Angels. Rush continues to impress with their musical talent and make you think and ponder while listening to their lyrics.

Just heard "Caravan" and I like it a lot more than the recent Iron Maiden song that has been released.

Due to YouTube's laws on time length, the song is divided into two parts.

Rush - Xanadu (Part 1)
Rush - Xanadu (Part 2)

Rush is such a magnificent band they just have so many great songs, this being one of my top favorites. "Xanadu", starts off quietly all the while perfectly introducing these new found musical additions. The intro reaches a climax at around the five minute mark and then the song erupts in soaring fashion. Such overwhelming power that leads you to believe you are in for something grandiose. An alternation between verse and chorus leads to the closing minutes at which point an epic Alex Lifeson guitar solo takes the tune home. "Xanadu" is something that really needs to be heard. A perfectly constructed song that is not at all unnecessarily long for being 11 minutes and tells a story through not only the lyrics but the exceptional music also. 10/10

maudlin of the Well - Birth Pains of Astral Projection

To be honest, I've just discovered this band a few days ago, but I already can't stop listening to them. They don't have unneeded prog wankery like Dream Theater, their innovations aren't absurd at all like uneXpect, and I find they can be more 'progressive' than Opeth (Akerfeldt's works are nearly always metal or metal influenced, while motW could apparently go much further than that).

This song starts off really chill with a very smooth atmosphere. At 1:23 even woodwinds enter, and the music takes you to places you've never been to before. At the 3 minute mark, the song suddenly gets heavier and fast-paced, and leads into an awesome guitar solo, backed up by keyboards set to church organ sound effects, and then some great growls and screams come into play. Later on the song gets quite chill again, with clear singing, and then another amazing guitar solo. The end sends shivers down my spine for some reason, in a good way.

I don't care if their music is from the astral plane or not, Toby Driver is a genius. Going to get the Kayo Dot albums after I whore the 4 motW albums for a while.

"Rainbow In The Dark" - Dio

Honestly, I could just say it's a song by Dio (rest his soul) and that alone should be enough to make you listen, but I'll elaborate anyway. It's got a really awesome melody and the great Ronnie James' vocals, plus a kick-ass guitar solo and this one little synth chord that plays in the chorus that words cannot properly describe. Plus it's about Rainbows, so you know it's manly.

Talking Heads - Blind

They hired a bunch of session musicians to contribute a multitude of extra tracks to this song, and my god does this track gel. I have heard that this track originally started as a jam with all of those musicians, and the singing was recorded later, and instead of the music being put together with the lyrics, the lyrics were written in order to sound good next to the music, so they are somewhat nonsensical but David Byrne's whimsical singing style hopefully will dispel any thoughts about the lyrics from the listener's mind, allowing the melody of his singing combined with all the saxophones in the background to draw you in completely - the perfect opening track for their album.

Hey guys,

Are any of you Evangelion fans? Even if you're not, you should give the Rebuild of Evangelion movie soundtracks a listen (especially Evangelion 2.0). These songs are particularly intense though:
The Final Decision We All Must Take - Shiro Sagisu
and
Carnage - Shiro Sagisu
and
Angel of Doom - Shiro Sagisu

Fantastically epic, these songs play during the best scenes of the movies.
You can really sense the heightened dark emotions Evangelion is known for.

Daisy - Fang Island

Fang island describes their music as sounding like 'everyone high fiving each-other', and boy does it show, this music is the kind of music that makes you want to rock out like no-other, fun, fast and absolutely jam-packed with soul.

Also, I thought I'd maybe listened to this album like... 5 times? No, I've listened to it like... 30 times, wtfwtfwtf.

Yellow Magic Orchestra - Riot in Lagos (played at the Budokan 1980)

Really good live instrumental track by my favourite band. Rumour has it that at around the time this piece was written by band-member Ryuichi Sakamoto, Haruomi Hosono (the "elder" of the group) expressed his dislike for the band's more "pop" tunes (such as Behind the Mask which is also very good - covered by Eric Clapton doncha know). However, when Hosono first heard Riot in Lagos, he was overwhelmed and bowed (and almost prostrated) to Sakamoto. Considering the former's overwhelming seniority (both musically and in terms of age) this was probably a pretty big deal at the time.

Sparks the Rescue - American Blues

I just got their album last week, and I'm loving it, especially this song. If you like Pop-Punk, Power Pop, or just Alternative music in general, I think you'll like these. The lead singers voice is a bit too high for most people's liking, but once you get used to it you'll find yourself singing along. Fast paced rock that isn't too heavy and some funky keys and guitar.

I'm going to take a little break from my usual heavy metal and it's multiple sub-genres review on a song and go on the alternative rock route.

Our Lady Peace - Naveed

The title track found on Naveed is one of the most popular songs on the album. Complete with one of the album's catchiest choruses and some of the best lyrical work Raine Maida has to offer, the track is a calm and somewhat atypical of the band's style. Maida's singing is very emotional, giving off a mournful mood, which reflects the atmosphere of the song very well, especially during the song's epic chorus. Overall my favorite song off of Naveed. 10/10

Iron Maiden - No Prayer For The Dying

I don't really understand why people underrate the album with the same name as this song so much; sure it has Powerslave-syndrome, and by that I mean the middle 4 songs are bad, but the other 6 are quite catchy, the title song in particular. That might still leave it with the worst Bruce album status though, or perhaps better than Dance Of Death, but it shouldn't be overlooked.

I hated this album pretty bad, the only songs I liked on here were "The Assassin", "Mother Russia", and the album title track. Though the album's worst tracks aren't as bad as the awful ones on Fear of the Dark, at the same time, its best songs don't hold a candle to the likes of "Judas Be My Guide", "Wasting Love", or "Fear of the Dark". No Prayer for the Dying and Fear of the Dark are the worst Bruce Dickinson fronted Iron Maiden albums in my opinion. The X-Factor with Blaze Bayley was a step up, then came Virtual XI though. I don't know what the Hell happened on Virtual XI, that is the worst Iron Maiden album in my opinion.

Colorblind (Acoustic) - Say Anything

Bemis' vocals here are a little out-of-whack, but this is the first time he's played this song in apparently like... 8 years? So it makes sense. Colorblind is my favourite song off of Baseball and I'm pretty glad Bemis' did this... a re-recording of baseball would be a dream come true but I don't see that happening ahahaha.

Edit: Eh, on second thought, I wouldn't call his vocals out-of-whack, but it's an acoustic rendition so they're definitely different, but in the best possible way.

<flavour text>

Good shit man. I'm definitely checking these dudes out more when i get the chance.

Now, unto what i came here to sell!

Particle - Metropolis

here's a spot-on review from an amazon customer about the band. i couldnt have done them more justice:

"Particle has been taking its listeners on musical journeys for the past three years - stretching improvisations and warping genres into fresh progressive rockin' funkin' jazz jams. Energy from their very own sound drives the band higher & farther into a maelstrom of sound that swirls bodies into an ocean of motion."

Bolded areas are spot-on!!!!!! The link i have provided is strong scientific proof of this. Seriously, click it. you electrofunkin fat heads will come crawling back for more.....i promise ~__~

Boney M. - Rasputin

Basically they are a band that was huge in Europe (apparently) and they play pop/disco music. It's really catchy and their dancer / vocals guy Bobby Farrell (you'll know who he is, he has the beard / fro combo) has some great dance moves that are MJ-esque and a great, deep voice that is just so unique. Other songs that I like by them are Ma Baker, Daddy Cool, and Rivers of Babylon. They just sing really upbeat songs that I like. :) Old Music but really great to listen to, check them out!

I also think these songs are perfect for dancing to and fun to listen to with a friend, maybe. All of their songs that I've listened to are just so fun sounding and upbeat I have to listen through it!

Rush - BU2B

Oh Hi, Rush released Singles from their next album, Clockwork Angels. Rush continues to impress with their musical talent and make you think and ponder while listening to their lyrics.

Agreeing, awesome tracks, can't wait for the concert next month :).

Also, it is very sad no one has mentioned Deep Purple. Easily tied with Rush as my favorite band.

Deep Purple - Highway Star

Written on a tour bus during an interview in 10 minutes, they played it that very night at the concert and it became a huge hit. A very simple song, yet very high energetic. The song immediently opens up fast, keeping a high tempo. Almost random lyrics add to the vibe to make this a real headbanger of a song.

I mentioned Deep Purple earlier, "Child in Time".

Acid Bath - Venus Blue

Acid Bath have become one of my favorite bands really quick, it's such a shame the band's demise would be because of massive drug use and bassist Audie Pitre's death due to a drunk diver. Anyway, this song contains a very depressing vibe about it and it shows off the bands ability to give off a cornucopia of emotion in their sound. The chorus will give you chills, it’s haunting and unforgiving, plus the song has an amazing melody. 10/10

Acid Bath is essential sludge metal, you can not go wrong with either of their two studio albums.

Jimi Hendrix - Little Wing (Live at Royal Albert Hall)

I don't like the studio version as much as the live version...the guitar solo is just too beautiful.

Boney M. - Rasputin
Ra Ra Rasputin, lover of the Russian Queen etc.

This song is so damn catchy and now it's stuck in my head. GOD.

Anyway, I love, love this band:
The National - England
Matt Berninger's deep bass/baritone (more baritone in this song, for bass, go see Bloodbuzz Ohio) croons over ticking guitars, well-balanced horns, soulful strings and a thumping, syncopated piano melody about a lost love on a different continent (at least, that's how I see it. There are probably more themes than just that). It's spectacular.

Iron Maiden - Killers

The song starts off with a cool bass intro, with a catchy lead over it. This carries on for a while until another verse comes in, which sounds great. This is song contains some of Paul Di'Anno's best vocals. The solos on "Killers", are well thought out. Overall this might be my favorite Iron Maiden song. 10/10

Kyte - Designed for Damage

Suuuper chill mix of synth-pop and indie-rock. Sooo good. But not my favourite song off of the album. I prefer ihnfsa(??) and a few others. Though the entire album truly is amazing. :)

A Little Piece of Heaven - Avenged Sevenfold

An experimental song. Bits of Broadway tunes mixed with hard rock to form a rather dark, but entertaining song to listen to. This song really brings out the late Rev's songwriting abilities.
