That was probably me, I think I'm the only person to mess around with a Belly Drum Hariyama lately. It's actually really fun as a late-game cleaner if you can find the time to set it up, especially with my GastroDEAD set.

Wow, I had the most awful ladder run ever tonight. With every single one of my good teams. My Moltres getting hit on the fly with HP Rock really did it for me. Like, what the fuck guys, you want to start a gimmick war or something?

Really though, HP Rock. Wow.

What was using it?

If it was some obscure shit like Venusaur then yeah but Ninetales and a couple of other sweepers have plenty of right to run HP Rock.

Oh and nice CroTomb sweep on me. Bastard 6-0's my team when I can't roar =[

I tend to consider Hidden Power Rock on most Grass types as it allows them to score a solid hit on 4/5 types that they are weak to - Fire, Flying, Bug and Ice.

It's also a nice third attack for Ninetales as Meru said (was used on nearly half of all Ninetales last month) but I'm not sure I'd use it on any other Fire type unless it was a designated Moltres lure or something like Typhlosion that had to deal with a lot of Moltres/Arcanine/Houndoom switches (and on that note 24% of Typhlosion used HP Rock last month). Admittedly most Fire types are better served with HP Grass or Electric but you're still over-reacting - Moltres should always be mindful of Hidden Power Rock when switching into unpredictable special sweepers. He's a victim of his own success in that regard.

hey guys has anyone tried rotom as a lead? It can beat almost any lead with choice scarf.
i tried something like:

Rotom@choice scarf
modest nature
252 spA 252 Spe 4 hp
shadow ball
thunderbolt
HP fighting/ice
trick

it worked pretty well. i am not sure about the HP type and nature though. Modest nature gives more power and in general is more effective while holding the scarf, but when u use trick rotom loses its effectiveness.
Can anyone test it further?

I don't see what is so gimmicky about hp rock... if someone had a huge moltres weakness it is a really quick and painless way to shore up that weakness

Why are getting so surprised about HP Rock?? Have we forgotten that HP Psychic was the hype on Milotic just about month ago??

Really though, HP Rock. Wow.

He was probably running something that was Moltres bait and wanted a way to lure and kill Moltres before going trying to use it effectively.

I agree that the seriousness level could come waaaay down over here. There's no need to lob around insults over pokemon, much less over a specific pokemon banlist. Besides, variety is what brings a lot of people to UU. Also, if gimmicks are common and you find yourself losing to them, try to make a team that's more robust against random threats, rather than insulting everyone for using the wrong teams.

On a different note: I'm trying to build a team around a concept set, and I want to know what pokes you guys would use to lure and kill Grass-types.

I've used RP Regirock as a great grass lure. It easily explodes on them. Though it's a one time use thing. Sub Rhyperior is a decent grass lure with Megahorn, but I've never like the accuracy.

Sceptile, either SD with ice punch or special with HP whatever.

Subseed Jumpluff is also fairly good at drawing out grass-types, but has trouble doing anything to them.

LO Milotic does a pretty decent job at taking out grass types, as it 2HKOs most Venusaur and basically any other grass type with LO Ice Beam.

Sceptile can't learn ice punch

and even then, even with specs Sceptile isn't 2hko'ing specially defensive venusar, which is THE grass type to lure out and kill IMO.

Swords Dance Sceptile @LO with Double-Edge is a very reliable grass raper. OHKOs/outspeeds and THKOs a lot of stupid stuff that it normally wouldn't.
douchey troll stuff like Specs or Wide Lens Milotic also lure things well.

Spiker Omastar lead can be a huge Venusaur lure if their lead can't handle it well.

Though aside from a Rindo Berry, I don't really see how you'll kill it

Altaria quite proudly resists just about everything Omastar is weak to and will laugh in Venusaur's face with any offensive/non-support set of choice. Don't forget that they tie in speed too, so if you go all-out offense, you can still smack it in the face right away without having to resort to setup or stalling.

I like using Azumarill + 4 attacks or even SubPunch with Ice punch. It lures in milotic also, but I like that I can randomly ice punch a fire-type and almost always hiw a grass switch-in. Or i can go for the safer option, double-edge, but either way, I like it. LO Milotic is another good one, but I'd rather her keep her durabily > the potential to sweep.

Wow a lot of people responded 0.o

I figured I shouldn't just post a set before testing; this will help a lot. It's a mono-attacking Feralgatr set, so I needed teammates to get rid of Grassers before sweeping. LO Milotic is working nicely so far. It also lures Toxicroak, which is great. Also the opponent is hard-pressed to stop Hydro Pump spam if they're trying to keep their Grass-type around. I may post the set in "new and creative" soon.

I'm not sure what kind of ev distributions venusaur are running on the ladder, so take this post with a grain of salt. good players may not switch offensive or physically defensive venusaur into milotic if it reveals the absence of leftovers, since lo hydro pump + ice beam KOes offensive versions and ice beam badly maims even specially defensive venusaur. if you find that happening too much maybe consider running an offensive spread but leftovers instead of life orb? this does come with the obvious downside of losing out on several 2HKOes (azu/croak/some clefable are the ones that come to mind) and quite a bit of offensive pressure with neutral/resisted hits, though.

curse lapras can't get crit by hp grass :), even although I bet there's a reason you're using feraligatr specifically

Altaria takes SD 'saur and Leaf Storm like a champ. The only common move Venusaur has that can dent Altaria is Sludge Bomb, and it's very possible that Altaria can stall it out with Roost. Running a SpD-taria also means that Sludge Bomb only 3hkos and you can stall out Sleep Powder.

Now that stats are out I think we have something sane to discuss. Anyways, it seems Slowking and Regirock will end up NU, probably due to Moltres' fall from heaven. Meanwhile, Exeggutor's usage has shot up, which might lead it to UU. Milotic dethroning Venusaur is quite interesting as well, as even through all the ban claims and its spam on every team, Venusaur wasn't able to keep up. Finally, Heracross and Umbreon seem to be hanging on in OU, so I doubt they're dropping.

Dear noobs,
i know its a bummer to think about synergy and come up with decent Pokemon combinations, but please quit copy/pasting other peoples teams, especially if its a hail team thats number one on the ladder
thanks
sincerely

Ok so ive been bored so I was laddering and hail teams are really dumb fads.
Its just a way for players to climb up the ladder with n00bs at the start who like to use nu pokemon (which is ice weak for the most part anyways)
Consistent win at start and you'll lose more as you get higher
my only suggestion is to use stall teams if you want consistent win. though i am biased because im primarily a stall player.... but trust me it is worth it. If any of you ppl want to copy team styles just copy Eo ut mortus's team which i think is one of the best stall teams today.
go read his rmt

the problem with stall is that a lot of people find it really really really boring to use.

I dont understand all the problem with stall is boring its just another playstyle.. just like offense. If you want to maximise ur wins then use stall in the ladder and youll win most of the time..
I like to win so yea i consider winning fun, if your one of those people that play to have fun instead of winning then you can try one of those retarded hail fad teams.
