Tricking/Freerunning/Parkour Thread

Tricking is a fusion of martial arts, gymnastics, and dance. Basically, you do flipping stuff that looks cool. Most of this is done as ground work.

Parkour is a way of getting from point A to point B, usually in an urban environment. It involves climbing, jumping, and scaling over rails, walls, and other obstacles.

Freerunning is simlar to Parkour, but is involves utilizing te environment in ways which may not be efficient, but looks cool. This includes flips, hand stands, etc. A lot of times, freerunning and parkour are interchangable in definition.

So who else does this? I'm sure many of you guys tried just from sheer curiosity. I trick pretty regularly and can do many various flips. I rarely freerun but do occasionally.

I think I saw...uh...one of them on youtube or something, looked kinda crazy. Reminded me of Jackie Chan stunts if anything XD

I absolutely love Parkour. Became interested about 1 year, 30 pounds, ago and I instantly fell for it. I had to self-teach myself parkour and found myself messing up quite a bit. I eventually found a Parkour community called "Urban Current" that posts tutorial videos on almost everything Parkour. Their videos made a huge impact on the improvement of my Parkour.

I still am working on mastering all the Parkour basics and moving to improve Free Running. I actually found a local, free-style break dancing group 2 months ago at my high school. They have a strong focus on doing flips, stands, and various other techniques. They were more than willingly to teach me what they know and I quickly learned how to implement their teachings to Free Running.

Over my summer break I am teaching some friends Parkour and eventually form a Parkour group at my high school in early Spring.

My best friend's freerunning team Urban Revolution just finished a video for a 10 part web-series they're making. It's very well done, take a look:

Hidden Part 1 - For A Good Cause

The guy with the mohawk is my best friend Jack. I used to be very into parkour and trained with them a lot before I tore a ligament in my ankle. I still like to help film when I have the time.

Does anyone else actively parkour? Once a week I go to this place that actually has an area set up for Freerunning with a bunch of regulars there that'll teach you new tricks, most other days I just practice all over the place.

During the summer I use to dedicated most of my summer towards Parkour. Now since school hit I can only find time to practice one day a week. It becomes harder when fall hits considering that I'm be busy with school until late at night. Plus the shorter days now makes my usual practice time too dark to practice.
