Let's say I have a Hariyama who has used Belly Drum to crank his Attack to +6, then Hariyama uses Rest. Would Guts kick in and effectively boost Hariyama's Attack to +7?

No, self inflicted sleep does not count to guts boosts. If he was burned or poisoned, it would take the +6 atk stat and multiply it by 1.5. So if his atk was 1000 at +6 it would be 1500 with the non Rest status.

So I have a question.. Clefable in FR/LG can learn Softboiled by the tutor.. but it only has 1 ability. Cute Charm

So I was wondering if there is any way to get Softboiled on a Magic Guard Clefable.

1) Obtain a good Clefairy/Cleffa
2) Take your Clefairy to a move tutor in FR/LG and teach it Softboiled
3) Transfer it to D/P/P/HG/SS, and give it a Moon Stone
4) When it evolves, there is a slight chance that the ability will change from Cute Charm to Magic Guard. If it doesn't work, I think you have to start all the way over, but try soft resetting first

I just used Stealth Rock in my battle against Silver in HG and he switched in his Sneasel. I noticed that the entry damage was rather neglegible. It was supposed to take away 25% of it's health, correct? The health meter didn't look anywhere near 75% full. Am I not getting something?

It would do 25%, so unless it has Leftovers or some other item, it would indeed be at 75%

(This might possibly need to go in the Wi-Fi section, but it's about a general topic so...)

When trying to deduce your SID for RNG Abuse, you need to have a non-bred, non-chained shiny that was caught in YOUR game. If you don't have that, how do you get a shiny with little effort without RNGing? I've restarted my HGSS game and I need to know this before I begin RNGing.

I've got a Dratini I was planning on making a regular Anti-lead Dragonite with, but it doesn't have ES. Any suggestions on what to replace it with? I'll be teaching him Waterfall over EQ due to the sheer number of EQ users I already have, if it makes a difference.

Right by the end of the last page. >_< Is this question too complex for this thread? Should I seek help somewhere else?

Edit: Thanks SEM. I guess I'll go with the DD set then.

Without Extremespeed, AnitLead Dragonite is not exactly fantastic.

If youre insistent on having one, it would be in your best interest to get one with Extremespeed.

You can find them almost everywhere nowadays, just ask people.

What are common unresisted type combinations? I know one would be Dragon, Fire, and Ground, but I'm having difficulties fine tuning some other combinations

Edit: Thanks supermarth64

Ghost + Fighting is perfect unresisted, commonly flaunted by Gengar. Dark + Fighting is similar but misses out on Toxicroak and Heracross, used mostly by Machamp. Rock + Ground and Ice + Electric give pretty good coverage also.

A while ago, I was attempting to clone my Cresselia holding a TM in Diamond via the GTS glitch. I believe I turned off the DS a bit too late, and needed to go retrieve it (it was not cloned). When I went to do so, I noticed that the sprite shown on the menu was of Gengar, not Cresselia, and it showed my Cresselia as holding an X Defend, rather than the TM (I believe it was TM71 - Stone Edge). Here's a picture. Sorry for the bad quality (hopefully you can still see that the name is "CRESSELIA," not Gengar, and that the item is "X Defend," not a TM); it was taken with my iPhone and I was rushing to retrieve Cresselia before she might get traded away. When I retrieved it, it was indeed a Cresselia holding a TM, not a Gengar.

Has anyone else experienced this glitch happen before, where the GTS shows the sprite of the wrong Pokémon and lists it has holding the wrong item?

Not me, but my sister had something similar happen with her copy of Pearl. She spazzed out all over the place, but in the end everything was fine. No clue what caused it, though.

She was later able to successfully clone the Pokemon, I'll note.

There's something like three methods you can use for HGSS.

First, and recommended: if you're able to restart your game, you can RNG to get a desired TID and SID. This means you can have whatever wild spread you like shiny; for instance, you can make it so that the flawless Timid spread always gives shinies. You also then won't need to work out your SID by catching a natural shiny, as it will be whatever you RNGed it to be.

Second method: there's a Japanese website (check the RNG research thread in the Wifi forum, link's in there somewhere) where you can enter a few consecutive days lottery numbers and your Trainer ID and have it work out your SID. You can easily get a few days lottery numbers by changing the time to 23:59, waiting a minute, getting the number, and repeat.

Third method: Save the game, catch the shiny Gyarados, work out its IVs, reset the game, catch the shiny Gyarados, work out its IVs, reset the game... and repeat. I think you need to do it something like 4-8 times? Once you've got enough data, RNGReporter can work out your SID; it's similar to using chained shinies in Platinum to find your SID.

When breeding a team for the BT, is it absolutely necessary to waste time doing the"RNG thing" for perfect IVs or can I just use perfect IVs for my necessary stats (i.e Gliscor has a perfect 31 IV in Atk and Spd and the rest doesn`t matter, just as long as they aren`t super low (which is what i prefer to do)

It's odd that you would mention Gliscor, because Pokémon like Drapion or Gliscor perform at their best with very widespread investments from my experiences. For instance, when I wanted to use a Gliscor for my Sandstorm team, I wanted it to be fast, bulky, and strong of course, so that meant everything mattered except Special Attack. I've seen people do well in the Battle Frontier using something like: Porygon-Z: 28-17-29-31-19-30. I don't know how because I have enough troubles with 31-31-31-31-31-31, but it's always possible

And you can always hack, but that's a different story.

Hm, my bad. It seems there is some debate on that topic as some sites say on way and some sites say the other

I wasn't sure if you were correct or not (no offense) so I researched it and almost every source I have says that Sleep does activate Guts. But the big turn-off about Sleep is that it's the only Guts-activating status ailment that cures itself after a period of time, so you temporarily lose your Guts boost until you fall asleep again.
