I'm still not convinced those evolutions are real. Other than the fact that they are some of the most disgusting Pokemon designs ever created, as pointed out, the final forms (mainly the water one) are too random and just look like fanart to me. That or Sugimori's completely lost it. The only half decent one imo is actually Pokabu's final, it's pretty epic, but it's irrelevant since it's middle evolution looks like it was made by some amateur American artist in the 40's working for a fledgling Disney. Seriously, I would place that thing in the same category as probopass and spinda. Anyway, I'm hoping that, if the art is real, that it is very old beta art because I completely agree with the above posters that Tsutaja's final Evo has a decent body design, but a horrible color scheme. It's like they just drew in some random yellow lines because they couldn't think of anything else, wth? Every previous Grass Starter has some sort of plant growing from it, what happened to this one? If you take away the colors, it's just a snake shedding it's skin. And Mijumaru's evo, well, I think we can agree that no previous starter differed so blatantly between it's evolutions. How can it go from a clearly bipedal Samurai Otter to a Narwhalrus with a mustache???

If I had to take a guess at their typings I'd say
Grass/Psychic (I really hope it's dragon though)
Fire/Fighting (Please not again...)
Water/Rock (Maybe Water/Ice, certainly not fighting)

There is one other thing I remember reading from those who played the demo that makes the Miju evo seem even more fake. It was confirmed that in the demo Mijumaru learns Revenge, and many players confidently predicted it would become water/fighting. With this Narwhalrus thing that obviously doesn't seem to be the case, but currently out of the 14 Pokemon that learn Revenge, only five aren't fighting types, so I'm still hoping it may become a Samurotter after all.
 
If they make Dragon-type starters at all, it'll either be all of them, or none of them.

I just hope Tsutarja's final evo isn't Grass/Bug. That would ruin any sort of viability outside of in-game. >_<
 
If these are the real starters, I think I'll have to dump my starter in a box or use it as a HM slave for being so unholily ugly, as I did when piplup turned into Prinplup in my first Diamond playthrough. I'm just hoping to god that Serebii have made some terrible mistake and that these are in fact fakes.
 
If starter evos are real I'll be...okay

There will just be 2 things I don't like

1: Mijumaru change from otter to narwal. Should have just kept it an otter imo
2: If Pokabu's final evo is Fire/Fighting I will hurt people. Even if it is a fantastic typing it's one they've done 2 times in a row now :u

Quoted for Truth. Except that I picked Turtwig in Diamond and it turned out Awesome. :> But yeah, these are by far the worst starters ever if they're real. When I saw the 4th gen Final Starter Forms for the first time, I didn't think they could possibly get any more epic. I guess I may have been right about that, unfortunately. I liked all three DP starters so much I had a tough time deciding which one to choose. Now I have the same dilemma again but for rather different reasons... Meguroko had better get a good evolution, I'm counting on it.

Omg, if those evolutions are real, i'm going release my starters in 5th gen, and use Chimchar > all of those Starters. The final of both water and grass sucks. They look ugly. Like really, the water pokemon legs are o.o. The fire pig evo looks decent, as well as pro. Game Freak should think OUT OF THE BOX for this starters, since everyone is using this pokemon as their first pokemon in the game.

Erm, last I've checked, all the starters had their own different fanbases; the Fire starter certainly never simply polarized and overshadowed the others (Just look at Swampert being the only starter in its trio in OU, and how Feraligatr and Venasaur are UU, unlike their NU brethen.)
 
question: are we only going to be able to catch pokemons from different regions once we finish the game (E4 and champion). If this is true, that mean we could only enter the dream world once we finish the game?

I still believe, if they WERE real, they're unfinished sketches that the anime writers got a hold of, akin to the old Torchic beta the animators had before Sugimori finalized his design for the Fire-type.

The only thing I'm disappointed about are the signs that Hepigstus is going to be another Fire/Fighting type.

I'd give it, but that's not my stuff. You'd have to go to his thread on GameFAQs to ask for that.

I C/P'd it because it covered how I feel about this: People are overreacting to something we won't bat an eye at later.
 
I would say the "Denial" is more based on the fact that we're apparently to take 2ch rumours and "Hey guyz a super secret special awesome uncle in gamefreak source just told me this is real and showed me a few photos and sprites! And only me, not you, you don't get to see" as somehow any sort of proof. And people are actually accepting the possibility.

Especially when it comes from Serebii, who has doggedly supported things that are wrong in the past, "Pochama is the english name" being one of them. Then you have Pokebeach relying on rumours from Spanish sites or whatever...why is a Spanish site going to get info from a Japanese source? weird.
 
Annnnd, with new monkey-mon being out, I now sorta believe that one rumor of gym leaders focusing around trends and tactics rather than straight away types. Dento for a wine-tasting monkey gym leader? XP
 
The IP of the person that leaked this matched the IP of the person that has leaked other stuff, all of which has been confirmed correct. You are in stage 1: denial, and i don't blame you. Of all the pokemon revealed so far, there are exactly two designs that aren't infuriatingly ugly imo. They are so ugly that I doubt stage 5: acceptance will ever come.

That being said, I don't mind the grass one so much, as long as it isn't grass/poison. But yes, this is shaping up to be the most poorly designed gen ever. Pokabu's final is beyond terrible. There are no words strong enough to describe it accurately.
 
If there is in fact three people you face at the end of the first gym, (thought from Pokejungle) I bet all three of them will have a type of that monkey. :D

EDIT: To be honest, the only starter that I'd accept is the grass one. Even though chances of them being fake are fading, I'm still hoping they are, and yet I'm preparing for them if they're real.

everbody check serebii out for the latest news: a water monkey!
what can we make out with this info? i think:

the first gym is an elemental gym. there are three leaders:
  • Dento, with Yanappu (the previously revealed grass monkey)
  • another trainer, with Hiyappu (a fire monkey)
  • another trainer, with Boyappu (a water monkey, shown in the leaked picture posted in serebii)

the screenshot of Boyappu shows him to be the same general body shape as Yanappu, just blue instead of green, and a light blue droplet (?) on his head instead of a brocolli.

so i guess the first gym is sort of a tutorial for new trainers on the type chart (resistance and weaknesses). this is also the reason why the first gym badge (shown in one of the trailers) is encusted with three gems: green, red and blue




(just posting this, but i'm not sure if this has been mentioned before)
 
These new starters.....WAT.

Granted, smuglord looks like a GQMF, and I'll probably end up choosing him, which I haven't seen fit to choose a Grass type starter since... ever.

Hercules Pig's second stage is just so much better than its final stage. But Fire/ Fighting AGAIN. Game Freak be trolling.

And Wotter. Has to be the worst thematic progression for a starter poke ever. It's like:

"hmmm, lets start with a tame, sad looking otter, and lets evolve him into a SAMURAI! YEAH! Like when the weak kid in movies learns Karate and kicks ass! And then.... we'll turn him into a four legged dog otter thats completely a different colour and doesn't resemble anything really! yeah!!... wait..."

They just HAVE to be fake. Please god.

But seriously, faking IPs is incredibly easy, we can't consider them 100% confirmed yet. Even if they are, they're almost certainly early beta sketches.

I felt the same way with the Gen IV starters, I really didn't know which one to pick in the run-up to D/P. I thought that Infernape, Torterra and Empoleon were all incredibly ugly, and now I love them all. Imo the only poorly designed starter is Swampert.
