Ditto

Ditto @ Swimming Goggles
+Atk or SpAtk / -Def or another random Value
4 HP / 252 Atk or SpAtk / 252 Spe
Eccentric
~ Transform

Switch in any wather Pokémon and revenge without a scarf and free move choice :D

Thanks to its swimming goggles it gains the speed and accuracy boost in front of lets say Vaporeon without any sorrows to lose the speed tie

but we still dont know if swimming googles work before or after ditto's transformation :D

Wichu already pointed out the biggest problem. But the EVs also seem strange. Ditto copies the stats(bar HP) from its opponent exactly, so why wasting 252 on either Atk stat? Give it 252 HP and speed.

@soon I´m not 100% sure but I think in Gen IV it wasn´t possible. A bit like Sketch would fail on Ditto.

Ditto with his new ability is probably the best revenge killer, especially so against most dragons(all except probably Dialga) and ghosts..Wow i can hardly believe what i`m typing :]

This is seriously gonna mess with the metagame, every team will have a ditto as their 'perfect' revenge killer. If Ditto still remains in OU after this, then I'll have to start carrying counters to my own pokemon!

I was just about to say that actually. If Ditto does become really popular, you'd have to make your team be able to counter itself.

I'm not sure if it'd mess up the metagame though. It might make it a lot more interesting.

I think the issue is with Ditto is that while you have a good revenge killer, you cannot actually switch him in. Thus you must first sac whatever is in at the time. This could be crucial if for example its Salamence vs Heatran and you need your Heatran alive to KO his Skarmory. I am theorymoning but you get the idea. I guess thats something you need to bear in mind when using Ditto.

Emperor why the hell would you ever run Leftovers? Speed tying will just get you swept half the time. Choice Scarf lets you kill, and sometimes sweep.

Like mannyandpidgeot said the only reason you would run leftovers is if you wanted more options. Leftyz ditto can

pretend to be a scarf ditto and play mind games with the opponent
switch moves instead of getting locked into just one
actually heal hp
copy support pokes

all of that with the trade off to only outspeed half of the time like you mentioned. Some people (when/if scarf ditto becomes common) might take the risk despite how crazy it sounds.

This is what I was thinking. Assuming he is running scarf, he literally can only be a revenge killer. There is no safe switch in, theoretically speaking.

On a small note, at the very least he can ruin someone's moveset by exposing it.

Thisnis in referance towards ninja by the way

Although not a "safe" switch in, he can potentially switch in on a pokemon who's main attacking type resists itself, say, you switch in on that new bug/fire things bug buzz, or a flygon's eq. Its not like it will never be able to switch in, it will just have to be very cautious of switching in.

Very risky but very true, I was talking about how he can switch in on Gyara and intimidate it as well, I completely forgot about this option.

4:02 am, maybe I should sleep lol.

How come no one realised that a Sub sweeper utterly ruins Ditto's revenge killing? Sure Ditto outspeeds, but it breaks the sub, and then destroys Ditto, and proceeds to 6-0 you instead. Coupled with the general mentality that Ditto should only come in after a kill, you can take the opportunity your opponent gives you to set-up, then pull a Sub before going for the kill.

True. I was realy doubting its ability to dea lwith Dragons in the Long term since it seems to me that their is like a 50/50% chance of you predicting right (and coming in on a non damaging move) and then (since chances are it will be a DD if it's a Dragon) you have a 50% chance to win the speed tie and revenge. Seems a bit risky to me.

It works pretty well once its in safely however.

Most Ditto will be carrying Scarf to gain a guaranteed advantage against whatever they come in on, so just assume that they will carry Scarf.

Can't think of a way around the sub thing, unless the opposing player has enough priority Pokemon to rip off the Sub then send in Ditto ftw, but it could just Sub again...

I highly doubt it'll proceed to 6-0 just because ditto dies, but you do have a good point on the sub thing. I just wouldn't throw ditto in on a pokemon with a sub, or if I switch and it subs, I'll just switch out.

Worst case scenario, at least you break their sub, find out their moveset, and, well, you brought a freaking ditto out in OU. That's just gonna be hilarious.

This is gonna sound weird, but I'm so hard for this gen >>

So many new things happening. Too much excitement.

So the question is what counters Ditto? Actually that's a bad question since obviously it appears there isn't any consistent counter against Ditto. What strategies are good at preventing him from doing his job?

Oh wait. Trick Room teams should be really annoying for people who rely on Ditto I would guess.

Ironically enough, the only save way to kill a boosted revenge killer Ditto seems to be sending in your own scarfed Ditto as a revenge killer. Other than that focus sash and priority moves might gain popularity for revenge killing purposes.

Maybe with this new Ditto we will see more stall team and less GOES CHOMP EATZ TEHM ALL teams.

I like it :)

A Leftovers Ditto would work agaisnt stall teams aswell, like i said earlier.

If Dittos' Eccentric copies abilities aswell(which it should)...Then it can really go one on one against Rain Dance and Sunny Teams aswell as stall.

I love you Ditto
The face of the new 1v1 metagame:

Ditto@Choice Scarf

gg

Not gg just jet! I believe standard Wobbuffet will defeat scarfed ditto one on one, based on struggle damage and HP differences. So will any pokemon with a lot of HP and no damaging moves (For example Blissey with only protect).

An SD Scizor and a Magnezone on the same team sounds good to me for Ditto whupping purposes.

Wobbuffet just to counter Ditto? Do I want to waste half an hour of my life per match just to kill Ditto?
