Dragonite

Ok I'm gonna give this thread the good ol bump forward. I've completely revramped the op by taking off movesets, correcting some stuff, and in general giving the op a good clean bill of health.

Dragonite can't have Roost and Multi-scale at the same time.

PWned

You didn't PWn anything. Dragonite learns Roost by level up. Do yo research next time buddy. lol. [no harm intended]

I don't think it will be all bread and butter when it comes to keeping Dragonite at full health. SR, and switching in makes this tough. I think it is an awesome addition though.

Edit:
@Sensible: I didn't say I PWned anything. I saw your post and the one's below it by Kurashi. I can still comment if I please. Wtf?
Dude. I just find it irritating when people jump to conclusions based on nothing. Baseless assumptions. Usually it's the new guys. lol

You didn't pwn anything either. Do yo research next time buddy and look at previous posts.

@Warrior Prince- I'm not really new -_- i just lurk a lot and i barely ever post. Just because I'm not a Smogon veteran doesn't mean I don't know about competitive battling. Plus don't edit your post to make it seem like you're the victim when you very obviously were attacking me.

Also: I don't think Dragonite has enough speed to completely negate the SR damage with roost.

@Warriorprince

Put it in mid to late game when you know what your expecting / have killed off it's checks and counters. That helps but there are still a few teams that'll stealth rock up so if you want spin support more power to you. I honostly don't think it's hard to keep Dragonite at full health as long as your semi prepared for what comes. Not to mention Dragonite is much easier to keep alive than all the other Dragons lol.

This seems to be quite interesting....But unfortunately Dragonite has to stay hidden for a while so some of the dragons get banned or it will be kind of hard to be picked amonst all the mast of the new/old ones. The thing i like most about the updates is Dragon Tail.Dragonites specialy has always been its good bulk for a Dragon. He can use this move to great sucess in the support sets like Cleric dancer.Another cool addition is Windstorm which makes flying an actually viable option but sadly i dont think it has enough space in its moveset to carry this anyway. It has good coverage already so dsn't really matter.Aqua jet might be a option to keep Doryuzu,Blaiziken,Shandera and some of the other scary stuff in check but dsn't help dragonite in sweeping much.Dsn't help at all actually...In terms of ability Dragonite didn't get anything amazing like Earthquake Spiral but since Salamence has big ass illeagality issues it dsn't matter. This could be quite interesting and help a LOT aginst the Ice weakness and some stuff like Ice shard and Weakened Ice beams like from Pert,Cress etc.Since Rapid spinning seems to be much easier this gen with our little gangstar evil mechanical household product ghosts are gone...Generally a lot of teams tend to Spin to clear the way for Dragonite anyway...
Nothing to fancy but nothing dumb like Metagross either.Draggy will still probably stay behind the scenes most of the time this generation as well sadly but heh i still like him =3.
Edit:Oh is there any gay illeagality issues that should be mentioned?

There arent very many important things that are illegal with Multi Scale but thank you for reminding me as there is one particular move I should mention.

Better exclude anti lead from those old sets red cause I just edited the op with illegal Multi Scale combinations. One of em is particularly important so read up.

I beleive the op is worded incorrectly. It says using outrage gives multi scale some use.

obviously you meant inner focus, just change that up real quick

I'm under the assumption that your refering to a piece in XxbreadonxX's Set. I believe you read it wrong. I stated "Outrage is prefered over Superpower for stab and actual use of Multi Scale" in which I meant that outrage can actually be used with Multi Scale.

On another note I wanna start up a discussion. Let's start discussing potential movesets for Dragonite. I think a Claw Sharpen set might find some use. I was on the Rayquaza thread when I saw someone mention Claw Sharpen with Extreme Speed. It might be able to solve Claw Sharpen sets speed problem..... but is dragonite not strong enough to really abuse Claw Sharpen Extreme Speed? Someone quote me on this.

AWE YE MY SET WAS REFERENCED.
But OP is right, the reason i stated that is because Superpower is a HGSS tutor move, and so Inner Focus must be used with it. (Multi Scale was not invented back then), while Outrage will work with Multi Scale, as Dragonite learns it by level up

So we can use Outrage (Level up) and Roost (Level up?) with Multi Scale, but no Superower? Thatll hurt the Mixxed one, but with Dora, Mence, etc. therere enough better mixxed Pokes to choose from.

But The bulky DDer doesnt care about SP, with multi scale, Roost, may Outrage, DD and Coverage-Moves like Eq and FIrePunch itll ork fine.

And i think this is nites niche between all that good, fast Dragons, you can use it as the bulkiest Dragon available and laugh even at Water-Tanks.

P.S. Does anybody now, how Multi Scale exactly works, bzw. how many % itll safe?

Thanks. I read some pieces of the Tread, but i havent seen ths yet :(

@Topic: That sounds good. If you can bring in in a Eq or after one of your Poke is dead, You can easily survive a Ice Beam, DD and then Roost+DD.
But thats just Theorymon, f. ex: A cleric-Dancing-Nite or Bulky Rooster is nearly impossibly to stop, but a crit or an freeze stop you so oft it isnt even funny. Thats the same with this guy.

Multi Scale is useful on just about any set, really. The Anti-Lead might want Inner Focus for Jirachi, but other than that Multi Scale is better (Extremespeed is Priority Level 2, while Fake Out is 1). Multi Scale allows you to take on Metagross and Swampert much better: Metagross' Meteor Mash does 35.3% maximum, while Swampert's Ice Beam does 43.95%. Aerodactyl's Stone Edge does 53.85%. Those are three of the most powerful attacks (factoring STAB and super effectiveness).

What's great is DD variants gain a huge boost as well, both defensive and offensive. Standard Vaporeon does 33.15% maximum with Ice Beam, who has the highest Special Attack of all bulky waters. I can't wait to test out a set..

While there are people who say dragonite can't compete with the new dragons i think he has something going for him with extreme speed. with erufuun and other michievous heart users set up sweepers are screwed with stun spore cotton spore or even toxic. borotorosu has twave with michievous heart. with dragonite if u get him in late game. he can attack before them with extreme speed due to the +2 priority while Mence, Chomp(stun spore) gyrados and basically any other DDer are para lyzed and screwed. its alotta new pokes out there dragonite can revenge kill out there with prior damage and i think thts one thing tht sets him apart

By combining some of your posts I see an OffensiveDD with Extremespeed and Multi Scale in the future. Something tells me this new gen is gonna be very kind to Dragonite.

Multi scale with roost alongside Toxic Spikes could make for a great strategy for Dragonite. Even with no defensive investment at all, Multi Scale Dragonite takes an average of 50% damage from Vaporeon's Ice Beam at full health, which means after Leftovers, you can easily Roost back to 100% and take only 27% max from the subsequent Ice Beam. Vaporeon will have to Wish eventually, so take that turn to DD up, then continue the cycle. I think Roost Dragonite (definitely with a bit more investment than the example I was using) + Toxic Spikes could turn out to be very effective.

trying 2 get some calcs up (bouta leave in a min so in a rush) but at 100% dragonite can survive with 50% health or more from 252 jolly mence's outrage and scarf chomp's does even less. so if he gets a dd as they switch in he can essentially have +2. ill try to do some more later on whn i have time

EDIT: oh yea mence had life orb
