http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=77586&page=187I decided I wanted to try RNG in HG, but I don't have a pokerus pokemon. I haven't been able to find anywhere to get one easily so I'd appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.
So far, I've been RNG breeding in HG/SS only because I find it easier, but I want some eggs to be hatched in Sinnoh, while still being shiny.
So, I'm wondering, if you trade an egg to another game and it hatches, which ID/SID does it have? The 1st game or the 2nd game?
If it takes the ID/SID of the second game, could I just use my Platinum ID/SID in RNG Reporter to make spreads that are shiny, RNG them in SS and then trade them into my Platinum to hatch, where they'd be shiny and have flawless IVs?
As long as you RNG the baby egg with your Plat's ID/SID, everything will remain the same, just it'll turn shiny for that game.
Well, I'm RNGing the egg in my SS with a spread that would be shiny in my Plat, so it's just a matter of trading it into my Plat after getting the egg and hatching it there, right?
Yeah, if it's completely RNG'd with the ID/SID that is on your platinum. Once you trade it over to plat, it shall hatch shiny.
Great, thanks. :)
EDIT: I seem to need this to be spelled out to me completely. Really sorry for this long post. >_<
Could you make sure I'm doing this right?
Platinum: ID-37739 SID-62247
Soul Silver: ID-00124 SID-37779
Using RNG Reporter's Shiny Egg Time Finder with my Platinum's ID/SID, I find:
Seed: 95170458
Naturally, since the rest of the info there (coin flips, taps, etc) pertains to Platinum, I copy and paste the seed into RNG Reporter under DPPt Egg PID (Normal). I find that the egg is on frame 37 (so, I'm guessing that after the taps and flips you would do in DPPt, that you'd be on frame 36?). This means that, in my SS, after hitting that seed, I'd need to hatch 36 eggs (I'm hoping to find a lower number... >_>), and then save in front of the 37th. If I were to hatch this egg and check, it would have the correct nature, ability, and gender, but it won't be shiny, right?
From there, I would RNG for the IVs, as I'm receiving the egg in SS, I would check HG/SS Inheritance. After getting the egg, I'd trade it into my Platinum, where I'd hatch it, and should have the wanted nature, ability, gender, IVs and be shiny. Since the IVs are determined when you get the egg, there shouldn't be a problem that D/P/Pt has a different IV spread for that same seed and frame, right?
OR
Is the shiny egg info given for DPPt shiny eggs solely because coin flips advance the RNG for eggs? I noticed that DPPt Egg PID (Normal) is used for HG/SS as well, so could I potentially:
Use my Platinum's ID/SID to find a shiny egg, however, this time, check HG/SS Shiny Egg.
I chose the seed: 900B02B3. The shiny egg is on frame 1.
RNG as per usual. Save in front of the daycare man on the first egg. To verify, I should have the correct nature, ability, and gender if I hatched it. Once again, no shininess.
RNG for IVs as per usual (HG/SS Inheritance box checked). Once again, question about IVs asked in previous method also applies here. Trade and I should have the desired pokemon upon hatching in Platinum.
I know learning to RNG for eggs in DPPt is probably easier than asking these questions, but I'm just so used to HGSS. >_<
So you're asking how to get it shiny for that game?
You don't have to do all that DPPt RNG'ing crap. All you need to do is get it to where you're doing a HGSS egg. So say you're going for a shiny egg in your SS. You put in your ID/SID (for example let's use 12345 67890).
So you do that check mark box for HGSS shiny egg. Where it says ID/SID where you'd normally put 12345 67890, instead of that, put in your Plat's ID/SID.
So instead of 12345 67890, you'd put 09876 54321 (plat ID/SID). Than RNG for the egg as normal.
You can not mix the DPPt and HGSS rng'ing in that way.
http://www.smogon.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1822043&postcount=10Is it possible to RNG on the Pokeradar in DPPt?
I have a unique problem. I normally RNG breed with the proper nature Ditto and it is holding an Everstone. When I do this I always get the right nature but if I don't have the Ditto hold the Everstone then I always get the wrong nature. As a note, I use an American Ditto with an American SS game. The reason I say this is that I have heard that having the Ditto hold the Everstone is suppose to mess up the RNG and that we aren't suppose to use it.
If this is true, why do I never get the right nature/ability when I RNG without one?
I would like help on this please...
Maybe you're hitting your wrong delay/frame?
I can't help much more from the information you've given me so far.
As most of us don't use the Everstone, and as far as I've seen no one has had a problem with it. So it must be something you're doing.
So if you give me the run down of what you're doing exactly, I can attempt to help you further

Yes right. I will start over. I have successfully completed over 30 RNG breeds, getting the correct shininess/ability/gender/nature and then getting the correct IVs so there is no error in hitting the wrong delay (All of those RNGs were with an Everstone). However, I found that if I did the RNG with a Ditto without the everstone that I tended to get the wrong nature/ability/gender but would still get the shininess. This happened every time I didn't use a Ditto with an Everstone. Last night I tried it again and actually got what I was going for but I am pretty sure the odds are very much against me that if I hit the wrong delay I would still get a shiny so...I don't really know what was happening.
Quick question about RNG breeding on HGSS:
When you make the Elm calls to verify your seed, does it advance the frame the same way as if you were RNGing for IVs? i.e. if I have my desired nature, ability, etc on a frame of 1, does calling Elm 12 times to check my seed advance the frame too far? If so, how do I verify my seed if my desired nature and ability are on frame 1? Should I try for frame 9 or so instead?
Thanks!
Hey, thanks for your quick reply. So let me see if I have this straight:
I thought you entered the game on a frame of 1, but according to what you've just said, I enter the game on a frame of 0, and putting the parents in the day care advances the frame by 1. So if I was going to go for a frame of 3, I'd call Joey once and place the parents in the day care, and then I should be on the right frame. Does this sound right?
Also, what can screw up my frame? Do wandering NPCs affect it? I'm guessing not, since you just said the only way you know to advance the nature/ability/gender frame is to call Joey. Do incoming calls ruin your results?
Thanks for your help!
if you're using an emulator check this out http://www.smogon.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2732418&postcount=12where can i find a guide to rng in fr/lg?
As Bakus had said, if the everstone thing seems to work for you, I guess just go with it.
I don't know how to help you fix your problem, as I can't see what you're doing or what's really going on. All I can really suggest is keep using the everstone I suppose. Since it seems to be working amazingly well for you.
Sorry I couldn't have been of better help,
