Want to see your Original sprites on the X-Box Live Arcade?

Hey Everyone! I know you guys are all super busy these days so I had an idea that might help you be able to still contribute!

I know making a sprite is tough work and all the details and such that go into it and that that takes alot of time. I was thinking though that since our creatures are all going to be visible in the overworld that we are going to need to make overworld sprites for all of them! This is something that I was just going to do but I figured some of you might actually be able to find time to make some of these tiny little guys.

We would need 3 views: FRONT - BACK - SIDE

Adult: 32x32

Juvenile: 20x20

I have whipped up a couple of mock ups awhile ago when I was working on the overworld but we have changed tile size since then so they are a bit small now. Instead of confusing you with those I will just link you to this:

I mean basically it is the same concept and I would rather you strive for this quality than the ones I whipped up really quick, lol.

Cool dude! it looks great!

Only thing I would say (and this is my fault for not being clearer) is that we really only need you guys to make 3 different sprites A FRONT-BACK-SIDE. We currently are not planning on bothering with animating the creatures so we don't need all 8 of the ones you made.

Its my fault because I said that and then posted the pokemon ones that do something else and didn't clarify. This will save you guys time so you can make more of these for more creatures instead of a bunch of extra sprites we won't probably use.

Thanks for jumping on this task though!!!!

Well it's fine by me, but since I was not planning to make an evolution of him for my fakedex -and because I'm way to busy to come up with ideas for the adult- it would be nice if someone could come up with a concept (which I would make into a sprite).

I have also a question for you Jon:
A long time ago you mentioned that your team maybe would make the game downloadable and playable for the non-xbox360 owners and PC gamers. Is this still happening?

Two part answer:

1.) Do me a favor and contact albinoloon if you are interested in someone making a concept for you to sprite. They have had a good relationship with Doran doing just that.

2.) Maybe? I will have to talk to the programming team and see how feasible it is to port the game to a PC platform. I would imagine since most X-box games can end up on the PC that the code should transfer fine. I will check back and let you know for certain but my answer would be "Yes" for now.

The short answer is that when I got on @... 2:45am the other day and answered Dhjona's question I had just come back from the bars with my neighbors and did not quite feel up to giving your sketches a thorough critique, lol. I did not mean to ignore you I just wanted to be able to give you a decent answer :)

SOOOOO... here it is!

Juvenile Rat:

- I like the concept so far but I can't let you pose it as a straight side view. We will need to see more of a diagonal view of the head at least.


Adult Rat:

- I think this version is ok but I think it will really depend on how you go with the colors and shading. One thing though is that the tail is way too thick in some places and it almost looks like it is not attached to the body... make sure it feels natural.

These look great! I figured people might enjoy the smaller sizes on this segment of the project, lol.

Did you get what I was saying to Dhjona the other night about you maybe doing a concept for him for the adult version of his Earth Lion?

Noooooooo I wanted to do those!

The any baby looks a bit out of proportion, especially the hind legs. The adult is great, though.

Here are some electric tadpoles, by the way.

Basically, its a rat with its legs and hindquarters shrouded in smoke, with two smoke tails.

This is probably the best concept we have seen so far. Would you be interested in spriting it for me?

These are not quite as strong as the others were...

Maybe try to utilize more of the vertical pixels too so that its not quite so small and hard to see.
