hello there smogon. long time lurker, first time poster. so forgive me if i do something wrong. that said, lets do this.
gen 5 is awesome. very awesome. i've made a bunch of teams, and while i liked all of them, this is my favourite one. ive won all but one battles with it, but i feel like it could be better.
The Team
RumbleRock
Golem @ Custap Berry
Sturdy
4 hp / 252 attack / 252 speed
Adamant
Stealth Rock
Earthquake
Stone Edge
Sucker Punch
Originally, this was a Gigaisu, but i replaced him with golem to test, and i like golem much more. STAB eq and sucker punch make him better at killing opponents than gigaisu was.
most of the time i can get up stealth rocks while my opponent does too, then i attack them while they attack me, but thanks to sturdy, i can kill them the next turn with my custap berry letting me go first. and then sucker punch whatever comes in. golem gets rocks up about 90% of the time, because if i predict the taunt, i go straight for an attacking move, and take them out, then abuse custap to get rocks up once the taunt wears off most of the time.
The King
Nidoking @ Life orb
Encourage
4 hp / 252 special attack / 252 speed
Timid
Earth Power
Fire blast
Thunderbolt
Ice beam
5th gen finally gave nidoking an ability he can abuse, and he does it well. This thing has great coverage, all of his moves benefit from encourage, and the life orb boosts them even more, without giving him recoil damage. It kills things. And a lot of the time i see people who apparently dont know about nidoking, and when they see me take out their heatran with earth power, assume im specs. then i kill their gyarados with thunderbolt. or their zapdos with ice beam.
The main thing people seem to have to kill Nidoking with is aqua jet users, or fact water types. which is fine by me, as i get a free switch to gastrodon.
Slugsworth
Gastrodon @ leftovers
Storm Drain
152 hp / 252 special attack / 104 defense
Modest
Boiling water
Ice beam
Earth power
Recover
Best. Bulky Water. Ever.
I'm running a slightly offensive version, because i was tired of not killing things, but his thing i still great. it can take all the water moves aimed at my ground types, and get +1 special attack from them. This means that it can effectively counter a lot of pokemon that my team would otherwise have trouble with, such as starmie, dragon dance gyarados and azumarill.
CLAMPS!
Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Poison Heal
4 hp / 252 attack / 252 speed
Jolly
Substitute
Fling
Earthquake
Acrobat
Come in against something gliscor walls, which is easy, since gliscor walls a lot of things, and set up a sub while they switch. fling toxic orb at whatever they send in, doing a small amount of damage, and toxicing it. then either attack, or switch to a pokemon who would better face the opponent.
now i have a pokemon who gets two times as much health back a turn as leftovers would give, even in sandstorm, is immune to status, and has a base power 100 100% accurate STAB move, and a base power 110 100% accurate stab move. The best part of this is that it can counter the ever popular Robooshin and Breloom.
I love this thing, but I'm not sure about the evs. it would be nice to get more bulk, but the speed and attack seems important. help here would be appreciated.
Monkgoose
Kojondo @ Choice scarf
Regeneration
220 attack / 56 special attack / 232 speed
Naive
U-turn
Hi Jump Kick
Me First
Stone edge
I needed a revenge killer for my team, and i couldnt find one that fit. untill i stumbled upon a kojondo page here. this thing is a great revenge killer. u-turn is great for killing off psychics, darks, or scouting, plus thanks to regeneration, entry hazards dont stop me from switching often. Hi jump kick is the powerful STAB move. its risky because of its recoil, but regeneration helps there too. stone edge kills flying and fire types, plus i dont really have better options.
Me First is what makes this thing so great. it can come in on an outraging dragon, and kill with a me first outrage. thanks to the naive nature and special attack evs, it can use me first to shadow ball gengar or shandeera (if i dont want to risk stone edge missing), or use draco meteor against those pesky dragons who arent outraging.
Ratchet
Chansey @ Evolution Stone
Natural Cure
252 hp / 252 defense / 4 special defense
Bold
Toxic
Seismic Toss
Wish
Protect
The originality i have! Chansey is a monster with evolution stone, becoming arguably better than blissey herself. i needed a wall here, and chansey is one of the best. i run the good old wish protect set because now that wish gives half of chanseys hp to the recipient, chansey can fully heal golem, nidoking,
gliscor or kojondo with just one wish, and give a good chunk back to gastrodon, who has recover himself. this means that i can reuse pokemon who are almost dead, and thanks to most of my team having good resistances or immunities, its relatively easy to pass wishes.
You may have noticed that the team has 4 ground types in it. however that isnt much of a problem. golem is a suicide lead, neither gliscor or nidoking are weak to grass, and gastrodon absorbs water. the only problem is that nidoking and gliscor are both weak to ice, and no one on my team resists it. however chansey can stall most ice users to death, gastrodon can kill most of the waters using ice moves, and kojondo can revenge kill ice types.
Mamoswine scares me, but i'm yet to face one. banded ice shard could take out a good chunk of my team, so suggestions on how to deal with mamoswine would be appreciated.
thats all, i probably did something wrong, but i can try to fix that later i guess.
please rate, and thanks for reading
