Pokémon Black/White in-game discussion

Damn and just one Ultra Ball? Wow..Team Plasma has too much faith you the hero if they expect you to catch a legendary Pokemon with one Ultra Ball.
To be fair, the dragons do have a catch rate of 45. 1 Ultra Ball might be all you need if you can get it to 1 HP using False Swipe and put it to sleep.

Poor Munna

I wouldn't necessarily say the bad guys were more realistic...they struck me as a "less evil" team rocket in ways.

But they kicked a Munna :(. Yeah it may not be as evil as chopping off slowpoke tails, but did you see the run up that guy took before he kicked it? Im surprised it didn't see the curvature of the earth!

zekrom was easy... got into red, threw a dusk ball and BOOM! captured.

I have one major complaint about the game. the huge difficulty leap after beating the main story.
dove into route 15, and suddenly i'm seeing trainers with level 60+ pokemon. I didn't lose to anybody, but it was harder than I expected.

Well, it does have a moderate capture rate, compared to the other legendaries.

I understand, but I was assuming that if someone did give you pokeballs in the case you didn't have any it would be around 5 or more. You know just in chance the bastard breaks out of the first one used, though with a 78.462% chance of catching them with a Ultra Ball under those condition I suppose one is good enough for the job.

Exact same thing happened to me. All my pokes were at about lvl 52, and then all of sudden I'm facing a lvl 65 Rapidash. Luckily everyone else seems to be using basic pokemon to, or at least this is how I see it, ease us into the level jump. I'm sure once I get further, there won't be as many snubulls and zubats.

Also, the travelers speaking French through me for a loop. I actually thought the language had changed on my DS.

The Japanese version has those same trainers speaking English and French, if you can believe that. When playing through Japanese Black, I had to do a double-take.

I decided to start my game over due to me messing up with the fossils, elemental monkey and sun stone. This time I replaced petalil with cottonee and lillipup with timburr and the game is going much more smoothly as a result. Cottonee is surprisingly bulky with the eviolite, and gurdurr hits much harder than herdier.

I also caught an even better Victini. Check this shit out:

Victini - #494 (Timid)
HP: 14 - 19
Att: 14 - 19
Def: 27 - 31
SpA: 31
SpD: 27 - 31
Speed: 27 - 31

Absolutely beastly. I'm so excited right now. Starting over was the best decision ever. Now to revive a fossil!

Nice Victini.

Also, why replace Petalil? I thought those things were supposed to become beastly after getting it to evolve. Whereas Cottonee/whatever it's evo's name is has fairly weak offensive stats.

Agh, I would never catch Reshiram in something other than a Premier Ball, I swear.
Anyway, my english white should be here by friday. <3 Has anyone tested Gigalith? If so, was it useful? I'm dying to use it.

Does anyone know what the hieroglyphs in the Abyssal Ruins say? I also notice they used the exact same font in the Japanese version of the game.

I don't have anything right now to link you to, but apparently it talks about a king and those founding heros and a pokémon and the king becoming the pokémon or the other way around, etc etc. Some of the words are illegible, so no one knows which pokémon they were talking about, but *some people* believe it's Kyurem.

@ Green Mage: what starter did you decide to run with this time around?

@ KokoaKiwi: I caught the little rock and raised it up to a Gigalith. It was a blast to use, and it's definitely powerful. There are a lot of super-effective Pokemon that will destroy it along the way.. so you have to baby it, etc.. and im sure later in the game.. you'll box it.. as i did. but i don't regret using it here and there. It looks awesome, true.

I'm trying to catch a Sigilyph with Magic Guard at the Desert Resort, but all I can find are Wonder Skin (at least that's what I'm assuming since they keep getting damaged by the Sandstorm).

I replaced petalil with cottonee because, as you can probably guess, erufuun is my favorite pokemon. There's nothing wrong with petalil. It's extremely good in the game and arguably the best grass type you can get early, but it just isn't my cup of tea and I thought that playing through with the mother of my future whimsicott would make the game more enjoyable.

I started with snivy again so I could get the water monkey. I don't like any of the starters this gen. All three are totally outclassed by stuff you can get early (snivy < petalil, tepig < victini and darumakka, Oshawatt < panpour and tympole).

Has anyone tested Gigalith? If so, was it useful? I'm dying to use it.
It's an excellent pokemon. It has very high def and atk even at its first stage which means it can handle the typically annoying normal and bug gyms quite easily. The only real problem with it is that it can't evolve without trading. Also, Archen is absolutely god-like in the game and having both could be considered redundant, although you don't get the fossil until a ways after you get Roggenrola.

Oshawatt < panpour and tympole).
Please elaborate on your opinion here:
HP/Attk/Def/SA/SD/Speed
Samurott: 95/100/85/108/70/70
Seismitoad: 105/85/75/85/75/74
Simipour: 75/98/63/98/63/101

I suppose I can see learning Scald on Panpour vs. Razor Shell on Oshawott, but for everything else it learns, there's another pokemon you can get early that does it better.

i agree, i had to go and by a shitload just to stop myself from breaking my ds.

I did the EXACT same thing. I bought like 30...I'm down to 9 >_>...I'm going back through to beat the remaining trainers, but for now, all I want to do is FINALLY EV my Ferroseed! x.x

Apparently GameFreak decided Starters had enough quality in moves and power.. and thought all we wanted now.. was "great" designs..

sure they're eye-catching.. but come on.. it's a shame they're so replaceable so easily.

Please elaborate on your opinion here:
I meant to delete tympole when i edited but just missed it. Panpour still outclasses oshawatt based on how it becomes a powerhouse after learning scald and evolving at level 22 while oshawatt becomes samurott at lvl 36.

Oshawott is the least outclassed of the three though and is easily the best starter.

Ah, now I follow. However, I haven't seen any evolution stones yet. (Though I'm only at the Desert Resort, but my team is all around 25).

Ideas for a Battle Subway team that's starting out without Choice items, Focus Sash, Life Orb, and anything else that's only found in the Battle Subway?

I basically need to grind around 1000 BP to get everything that I want >.<

I only evolved it at level 31 so I could have Acrobatics. Yes, it was a pain in the ass from lv22 to 31, but it was worth it (until it died by the Electric Cave...).
