Ducklett Stare v MapleSandwich (MS wins!)

(Send out JolTIK, use Thunder Wave + Spider Web + Thunderbolt

Sorry I've been on a ski trip for the weekend and didn't have any real chance to post, forgot to mention it before I left)

((No worries dude, life happens :P I just didn't want to win on a DQ if I could avoid it, that would be lame.

Also, I assume all of our abilities are usable? If not, just consider Shed Skin to be my one ability.))

Duck grinned to himself, seeing that the battle had now seemingly turned to his favor.

"After that KO, I'm sure you're ready to show 'em your Moxie, eh Greebo? Now don't sweat that Thunder Wave, you should be able to shed that right off naturally. Now let's hit him hard and fast -- use Stone Edge, followed by Faint Attack. Wrap up with another crippling Stone Edge! Let's avenge Bellamy!"

Rules:
3v3 Singles
DQ Time: 3 Days
2 Recovers / 3 Non-100% Recovers / 6 Chills

A non-100% recover is a "draining move." This means stuff like Wood Horn, Drain Punch, and Giga Drain may be used 3 times per team throughout the entire match. Remember that Chills now restore 12% energy.

Arena:
Newbie Island Arena

Based in the wonderful island of yore, Newbie Island, where nobody can count above five and everything that's not a trainer is a punching bag. In the corner, they have a section of this palm-tree and surf island set aside for practice (or real) Pokemon Battles. This small arena is sandy, allowing Pokemon who can dig to do so. However, given that the rest of the island is for the training of newbies, this roped-off section of sand for Pokemon Battles is only a 40-foot diameter circle. Anyone attempting to escape outside the confines of the low walls is outside the protection of the arena, and can summarily be plausibly attacked or flattened by new trainers seeking cheap experience.

If you go outside the circle, there are new trainers that will attack you. They are as follows: Youngster (Pidgey; 50%), Picnicker (Hoppip; 25%), Bug Catcher (Butterfree / Beedrill; 10%), Fisherman (Goldeen; 15%). The moves they will use will not be revealed until they attack.

Round Eight Start!

As the bloated deckhand is recalled back into his Pokeball, MapleSandwich ponders his choices for a while. Who is he going to send out. Upon reaching a decision, MapleSandwich pulls out another Pokeball from his belt and releases the Pokemon contained inside of it. Go... Bachuru! Imported from Kenya.

JolTIK starts the round by letting loose a small spark of electricity. It sends a shock down Greebo's spine, tingling the nerves and paralyzing him. Greebo struggles with his coordination, but manages to thrust the edge of an extremely sharp rock he picked up towards the Bachuru. Unfortunately, JolTIK forsees this and quickly dodges, resulting in a miss.

Taking advantage of not taking damage, JolTIK scuttles around the paralyzed Zuruggu, spinning a rather large web that ensnares the already unable-to-move Greebo. As soon as the web is finished, Greebo lashes out with a Faint Attack; the attack connects, but the immobility means that it only scratches the surface of Bachuru's skin, resulting in slightly less damage.

Jumping back from the attack, JolTIK summons a large thunderbolt from the sky. The sky flashes dark as a huge thunderbolt crashes down onto the immobilized Greebo as he takes some damage. Greebo strikes back by slamming into the Bachuru with another rock, but this time JolTIK is too slow to avoid it. He takes significant damage.

Stuck in the web, Greebo's skin sheds, healing his Paralysis.

Round Eight End.

"Damn, that webbing is problematic -- but that's okay, cause we don't need to be close to hit him with another Stone Edge! Follow that up by Leering at him -- show him how pissed you are about this web bullcrap! After that, end the round by showing him another Stone Edge; let's wrack up that rock-type damage!"

(It seems to me like my Thunderbolt did 0 damage--though I could be wrong with my 80-80 calculation. =V?)

M. was amused heavily by this. This battle was going exactly according to plan so far. He just had to make sure that JolTIK didn't keep getting whacked...hmm.

"Okay, JolTIK, show off your Thunder Wave again--if it can't move, it can't hit you. Try to hit it with some Charge Beam afterwards, and build up to a Thunderbolt. Stay about ten to fifteen feet away while you attack--there's no way it should be able to hit you from that far while it's paralyzed and stuck." M. wasn't so sure about that, but he figured that if he was wrong, he could just call on an old trick. "If it still manages to hit you with Stone Edge, then just go ahead and Disable it."

You are correct. I calculated damage and forgot to subtract it. Good catch.

Round Nine Start!

As the spider and the pantslizard face off, it seems that the trainers around Newbie Island have congregated again around the outside of the rope circle, watching eagerly for any Pokemon to stray out of the circle. Hopefully, nobody will, but you never know...

Miffed at the fact that Greebo easily relieved himself of the paralysis status last round, JolTIK fires another small spark of electricity that sends shivers down the immobilized Zuruggu's spine, tingling the nerves, causing him to become paralyzed again. Greebo responds by jabbing the Bachuru with the edge of a sharp stone while she's close, dealing an unusually large amount of damage.

Remembering her master's last orders, Bachuru steps in close, telepathically erasing the memory of the move Stone Edge from Greebo's mind for a short period of time. Still unable to move, Greebo retaliates by hissing intimidatingly at the poor Bachuru, lowering her Defense stat by one stage.

Scuttling back to safety, JolTIK calls down another large bolt of lightning. The sky flashes again, and the bolt crashes down onto Greebo, who takes a rather large bit of damage. Greebo attempts to counter the attack, but he just can't remember the move he was ordered to use. Sigh... maybe next time?

MapleSandwich, your turn.

M. was nervous. JolTIK seemed to be doing its job well, but he was afraid that she wouldn't be able to stand up to the thuggish foe's attacks, and he was pretty low on options if JolTIK fell...

"Let's play it cautious, JolTIK. Start off by firing another ThunderBolt off, make him suffer. That should let him out of the web, so tie him up with Spider Web again. Since he'll be so stuck, go climb in one of those palm trees, out of reach, and zap him with a Charge Beam. He'll rue the day he made me notice those trees!" M. looked across the circle and shouted, "You'll rue the day you made me notice those trees!"

Sorry for not getting to this sooner.

MapleSandwich glances around anxiously, always turning back to look at his opponent. Ducklett Stare just stares forward with a blank expression on his face, seemingly unable to do anything. As the timer goes off with a loud ringing sound, MapleSandwich calmly gets up, recalls his Pokemon, and says, "We're done here. I think we've won."

MapleSandwich wins by DQ!

MapleSandwich obtains 2 TC
Privatyke obtains 1 EC, MC, DC, and KO
JolTIK obtains 1 EC, MC, and DC
Ducklett Stare obtains 2 TC
Bellamy obtains 1 EC, MC, and DC
Greebo obtains 1 EC, MC, DC, and KO
Engineer Pikachu obtains a reduced reward of 2 Ref Tokens.

Thanks to all for participating.
