Might be better to run the calcs against something that they hit harder so you can see the difference better.

252 Atk Jolly Reckless Staraptor Brave Bird vs 252/160 Spinda:
82.7% - 97.5%
when Staraptor has Life Orb:
107.4% - 126.9%

252 Atk Jolly Guts-boosted Swellow Brave Bird vs 252/160 Spinda:
81.8% - 96.6%

So Staraptor hits slightly harder, even without Life Orb, and the difference is even bigger since Staraptor can carry Life Orb while Swellow must carry Toxic or Flame Orb.
Also Staraptor is better considering it gets Close Combat.

What are the boosts that pokemon get for stat boosting moves? +2 is a 50% boost right, so if their stat was 100 and they got a +2 boost it would become 150? Is each stage a 25% boost?

so i just finished playing through platinum to get the legendaries and other pokemon hard or unobtainable in white. my question is who should i teach stealth rock to before i transfer them forward? who has the best breeding potential, most usefull, etc?

@Heracrossed: I think +2 is a 100% boost. Unless this changed since Gen4, each stat boost is a +50% boost. Hence, +6 would be a 300% boost.

Does Synchronize work on Pokemon in Entree Forest (such as my current situation, Hustle NidoranM)?

This should go in Wifi, but I'll post it here.

I am soft resetting (NOT RNG'ing) for a Calm Specially Defensive Heatran. This turned up:

Heatran - #485 (Calm)
HP: 22 - 23
Att: 14 - 15
Def: 26 - 27
SpA: 28
SpD: 22 - 23
Speed: 6 - 7

which produces with 252 HP/252 Spec Def:
Heatran - #485 (Calm)
Level: 100 Stats: 378 / 180 / 244 / 293 / 333 / 166 Hidden Power: Electric (59)

Throw or keep?

I was just wondering when I saw this...are your pokemon healed BEFORE you enter wifi?? If no, you could theoretically enter wifi with swellow already poisoned/burned allowing you to have it hold a different item. Imagine swellow's facade while poisoned holding a choice band 0_0.

Hi guys, I managed to breed a decent Karrablast. Here is its info:

Nature: Brave
Ability: Swarm
IV's: 31/30/30/2/30/20 (HP/ATK/DEF/SP.ATK/SP.DEF/SPE)
Egg moves: Counter, Pursuit, Megahorn

I am trying to put it to good use and I want to determine what's the best EV spread for it. I was thinking of 252 HP, 252 ATK, and 4 SP.DEF. Opinions?

I was wondering, why is swift swim and drizzle the only weather/speed boosting combination on the ban list? It seems strange, especially considering how much I see people complaining about Excadrill.

I've seen sub+petaya etc being mentioned many times as viable sets for whatever pokemon.

I'm wondering, where can you get these berries in BW? Through dreamworld or something?

Sorry for all the questions but i have another one, this time about ev training.
Ok so serebii lists the min and max stats for a jolly scyther at level 50 at 121 and 172 respectively.
The max evs you can put in one stat is 252 and if 4 evs equals 1 stat point up then the theoretically you can level up a stat 63 points through ev training. But the problem is the difference between min and max stats between a jolly scyther at level 50 is 51 points because 172-121=51).
Shouldnt the max amount be 184 (since 121+63=184)?
lol sorry again for the long question

4 EV equals 1 stat on a lv100 poke. on lv50 your stats are half of what they will be at 100, same goes for the part given by EV.
So with 252 Speed there should be 31,5 difference (dunno which way its rounded).
Then I believe min also means 0 IV, while max is 31 IV, maybe that explains the difference that's left.

farranpoison:

In a critical hit, the opponent's Defense and Special Defense stat stages are ignored if they are higher than 0. The boosts from Eviolite, however, are not stat stage increases like Barrier and Amnesia; thus they still apply even in a critical hit.

Does anyone know if "Simple" will double stat boosts that come in from a Baton Pass?

Also if anyone wouldn't mind, can someone show me some maths on a Timid Sheer Force+Life Orb Nidoking's Earth Power after a passed +2 Sp.A boost on a Blissey or other special walls that somehow do not get covered by an Earth Power, Thunderbolt, Ice Beam and Flamethrower coverage
