Pokémon Black/White in-game discussion

Also there is one thing, that Musicals are for. If you collect all 100 props (two of which need you to participate in wireless Musicals), you get a star on your card.
Speaking of which, how do you get them all? The guy in Opelucid City stopped giving them to me. :(

Clay was cinch; I even tried losing to him! Dewott swept his ass with Grass Knot and Water Pulse. Elesa killed my cousin though: he's doing an all Grass run, and even though I bred him a full team of 5 (plus Servine) and he raised to Lv. 30, he survived with one Lv. 30 Eviolite Ferroseed on 8HP. GSC leaders are also very easy except for Clair who can be a slight problem. And where are the stars on the Trainer Card? I can't find them.

Thanks, TT13! And Daycare is the one way of levelling my Brave Ferroseed cleanly (don't fancy trying to KO other Ferroseeds for Defense). On another note, am I the only one who found Lenora the hardest Gym Leader to beat?

When I EV trained my Ferroseed I switched into a higher-leveled offensive poke who was done with EVs and had it fight instead.

Lenora was easy IMO. Go Roggenrola! I lost to Clay the first time though. X(

I lost to her twice. I had Servine, Herdier and like a Roggenrola that I didn't train. At that time (It was the day B/W were released, so I didn't know that Whimsicott sucked in-game) I was trying to get into Pinwheel for a Cottonee but I just gave up and fought Lenora then, losing to her Watchog. Also, am I the only person who didn't use the monkey at the beginning of the game?

@ Texas
Chasm has the highest-level wild Audinos, but I just use Village Bridge Audinos (level 47-50)

it's actually impossible to find level 51 audino there.

outside, the range is 47-50; inside, the range is 52-55

(or so serebii tells me)

And no, you're not the only person who didn't use the monkey. In fact, I have grinded my Tepig to level fucking 17 every single time I play just because I don't want to waste experience.

Used the monkey for the first gym, told it to fuck off right after that cos I always found it really underwhelming late game.

I thought Elena was the hardest gym leader and Lenora was about medium difficulty(did not use fighting type). Just my opinion though.

Panpour was actually pretty awesome in the one playthrough I did with Snivy (Ditched him pretty early though, grass starter was just so meh). Can do alright earlygame, then have him fully evolved with Scald as early as Castelia is just ridiculous. Didn't use him much for the E4, but he was never useless.

Pansear though, totally useless. Use him to kill the Pansage in the gym, then never again.

which place gives the highest levelled Audinos? all im getting are level 51s at Giant Chasm
Alongside the mentioned Giant Chasm Audino's, there's also the Doctor & Nurse that appears by chance in the Nimbasa Sports Dome daily, they have Lv65 Audino's, but yeah, they don't always appear...

Concerning the monkeys, unless you evolve them, they are pretty weak imo. They're only good for the first gym, & nothing more. I ditched mine (Panpour) in favour of a better Pokemon (Tirtouga) when I got the chance.

Participate in musicals. People show up in the lobby after each one, and any of them can give you props. Even if you do poorly, you typically get one or two. Do great and there could be, like, 7.

The Opelucid guy only gives the santa pieces.
You get a special prop from the Musical owner at 25 & 50 participation.
Also one on your birthday

Otherwise, no. TBH, all of them were pretty easy; they're all nothing compared to GSC gym leaders. Clay was a bit of a pain in the arse but otherwise they weren't terrible.

G/S/C were PUSHOVERS. I killed em easily in my youth, in a second run through 2 years ago, and the remake. These gym leaders actually caused some problems. You didn't grind did you...or use high tier only pokes? Or did you use lots of items? Something! You had to have done something! The freaking Electric Gym was ridiculous. Frigging squirrels! And Lenora was a close win by me. Barely made it but I used a few potions and a revive and won.

Lovely. Guess I have to waste time getting props.

Contests (the original) were so much better than this. I didn't like super contests because I was terrible at making Poffins and wasn't much good at the dancing and the dress-up. And then these Musicals are basically mindless (as far as participation goes).

I loved the original contests. My Blaziken (On my first playthrough of my first game, Sapphire) got into that memorial museum thing where the guy paints a portrait of it. It won all the Beauty contests.

Retaliate dog kills squirrels.

No, but seriously. I'll admit I had a really hard time with that gym. I had to use an HM slave as death fodder to revive my dog (all my other Pokés were dead), and I just barely survived and finished the job with Retaliate.

Seriously, Herdier's Retaliate was a big help for me...but later on, Herdier (as Stoutland) became useless. It was a Brave nature, so it couldn't outrun jack crap.

80 Speed doesn't outrun anything significant, lol.

Blitzle is a much cleaner way of owning the gym. Zebstrika is uber-frail, anything can take it out.

My Stoutland was Rash, lol

It didn't really do much after mid-game, but it was good early-game.

Having a 135(after STAB) BP move by Gym 2 is great, and its running off a modest 80 Attack to boot.

Stoutland isn't fast enough or has good enough stats though. It's sadly outclassed by everything endgame(read: Fraxure), but until Gym 6 it's one of the best mons you get.

After my last run, I disagree. While Stoutland can't guarantee it will be faster than the opponent, 80 Base Speed with average Speed IVs and a whole game's worth of Speed EVs (Speed EVs are extremely common in-game) means that you'll be outspeeding a fair amount of stuff, even later in the game. Combine that with those solid defenses (especially with Intimidate), and you'll have a reasonable chance to land some Returns before getting taken out.

A strong STAB Giga Impact can't be discounted, either. Stoutland is bulky enough to switch into most attacks, and if Stoutland is either faster than the target or can survive a second attack you can put the enemy in a whole world of hurt. Worst case scenario, Stoutland is the best sacrifice switch available pre-credits, since you'll always get a free growl out of him. He does a solid job buying time to heal up, too.

Honestly, the only point in my last run where Stoutland wasn't a productive member of the team was against the Elite 4, and that's largely because Scrafty was too busy wiping the floor with everything to bother using him.

Hmm, good point...

On a side note, I thrashed Cynthia yesterday with my LV 51 Haxorus. Admittedly, I needed to stall Spiritomb out of Shadow Balls, and I had to use Aerial Ace(fucking evasion spammer, or else I'd put EQ up there already, as it fucks over Eelektross and Lucario), but SubDD is easily one of the best out there.

My username says hi. I found Stoutland to be consistently great and extremely useful in-game. Mine was 31 IVs Adamant (yay for luck) but it helped take down many threats like Lenora's Watchog, Elesa's Zebstrika and even soloed Ghetsis after using only one Full Restore against CoFAGrigus. With one Work Up. Intimidate is very useful, bulk is definitely decent and Rugged Helmet breaks those Sturdy users where they crop up. (The last part is superfluous.) Return+Crunch+filler like Fire Fang for rare Steels+Work Up swept the game. Accelgor-there's an annoying Pokemon. And I found it funny I got a streak of 19 in the Subway with a Darumaka, Dewott and Lilligant (all still with low EVs)

My team in-game at the moment is:
drillbur
petilil
scraggy

I decided not to use my starter In this run through. I'm wondering what other three pokemon I should use in-game that compliment these pokemon. However I do know I want to use joltik. I know I'm interested in dwebble, sawsbuck, and minccino. and a few others. I dont think I will use the fossils.

darumakka would compensate nicely the above 4...
as for the last spot try a psychic type(gothita/reuniclus depending on version) or one of the ghost pokemon (chandelure/golurk/coFAGrigus/jellicent)...

Just want to say guys it IS possible to get EV-reducing berries - in the Dreamworld. I currently have Hondew and Kelpsy Berries growing nicely in my Garden.

The thing is, I don't know how you get them. The only reason I managed to get mine was sheer luck, as some Japanese player had a bunch on his Share Shelf, and I have seen none since.

So with the Dreamworld it is entirely possible to get them. Aim for the Japanese players, check their share shelf, and you may get lucky. Seeing as planting them essentially yield 4 more, it's worth it when you do.
Thanks so much for this advice. I already have three of the six berries growing in my garden. i should have my Victini raised in no time.

By the way, exactly how many berries does it take to completely remove 252 evs? Was it 11?
