Pokémon Black/White in-game discussion

volcarona really doesn't count for this anyway because of the 59 evolution level. he isn't that hard to train in victory road against durants but it still takes awhile. also when he evolves he only need one more level to get heat wave not a few levels. and if you have a heart scale you can teach him silver wind from the move relearner. those 2 moves give him decent coverage and he does pretty well. its just a pain to get him and you will only have him for the E4 and post game.

I have him for 7th gym by abusing the virtue of spot hall and a day of no rock pokemon thing hall
Seriously its like hell

Did anyone else think that Alder's team is underwhelming? He didn't have a single pseudo-legendary (though you can argue that Volcanora takes this role), but seriously, I think he could have used something better than a Vanilluxe and Druddigon, especially after National Dex.

Hey guys got pokemon white a few weeks ago and did a really quick run. I used:
Snivy - I loved him just used leech seed and giga drain really
seismitoad - he was ok
darmanitain - he was also ok, couldnt take a hit
Haxours - beast
braviary - had to grind to use him for the second round but he sweeped cinthia (sp?) with bulk up
hydreigon - got him to second evo for 1st e4 run
used jellycent for the second round of the e4. loved him.

So im going to be starting over and wanted to know what pokemon you guys would recommend. I dont want to reuse any of the above pokemon but i might start with snivy again and just not use him. thanks

Hmm it depends which version you have. I personally used Scolipede and Sawk, both had great results until I threw out my whole team for Haxorus.

So reading this thread I found out that the only way that you can force the game to NOT catch Reshiram is to fill all boxes. Question would be, at what point in the game should I make sure all my boxes are full? Before E4 or right after it?

Before you battle Reshiram. You can actually leave between the E4 and the Reshiram battle.

But want my advice?
JUST CATCH THE FUCKING RESHIRAM

I have pokemon white like I stated before. the pokemon I know im going to use:
Drilbur
Joltik

pokemon im interested in:
sigilyph
ducklett
emolga
cottonee
petilil
sawsbuck
dwebble
venipede
trubbish
throh
scraggy

Also if you guys have any cool nicknames for any of the pokemon let me know. thanks.

I was pretty surprised he stuck to Unova mons and didnt get mons from other regions, and yeah some of his mons were surprisingly weak, even for Unova exclusives. I really expected him to have a Hydreigon, and maybe even the fossils, but eh I guess I shouldn't complain about an easier opponent.

If you want a decent Reshiram (or Zekrom), but don't want to fill up all your boxes, try this. Open up Pokemon Online (or another similar program) and make a lvl 50 Reshiram with the IVs and nature you want. Then after you catch it ingame, you can look up its stats during the next battle and compare them to the stats shown on PO. This won't give you perfect matches, but it should give you a vague idea of what the IVs are of the Reshiram you just caught.

Of course, if you're going to RNG Reshiram, then this is a nice way of checking if you did it right since chances are, the IVs will be the ones you wanted if they match with what's shown on PO.

Ehh, just managed to enter the Hall of Fame in Black, yay...

Using the same team of Serperior/Scrafty/Cofagrigus/Carracosta/Vanilluxe/Galvantula that has served me for ages, I entered with everyone at Lv72 across the board bar Serperior who was Lv73. The E4 was rather easy this time around, probably due to my insane amount of money, with all my Potions & Revives & whatnot, I go in hoping for a challenge.

Marshal was first, & using Cofagrigus, Breloom was rather annoying, but he fell to Will-O-Wisp combined with Hex. Sawk, Throh & Toxicroak also fell the same way, except I simply spammed Shadow Ball for Throh. Then I sent in Serperior, set up a couple of Coils, & finished him off.

Caitilin was next, & she wasn't challenging. Galvantula handled Musharna, Cofagrigus handled Metagross, Scrafty took Reuniclus, Vanilluxe for Sigilyph, Cofagrigus returned for Bronzong, & Galvantula took out Gothitelle.

Grimsley was third. Galvantula showed Liepard, but his Scrafty showed mine...Only because on an unlucky Hi-Jump Kick. So in comes Serperior, who set up Coil, & swept Grimsley's team, despite the type disadvantages.

Shauntal was fourth, & she put up a bit of a fight. Scrafty showed Cofagrigus, Vanilluxe for Golurk, Carracosta for Froslass, Vanilluxe for Drifblim, then I sacked Vanilluxe to heal Carracosta against Chandelure, for Carracosta to handle Chandelure, & Galvantula failed against Jellicent, but Serperior finished off.

Alder was last, & he was disappointingly easy. Carracosta leaded against Accelgor & took advantage of Sturdy to take care of him, Vanilluxe showed Druddigon who's boss & then dutifully sacked himself to heal Carracosta against Volcarona. Carracosta stopped him, before Cofagrigus crippled Bouffalant for Scrafty to take care of. Carracosta then came in & took care of the rest.

All in all, this is a great game, & the E4 are reasonable in difficulty, albeit I made it look easy. Here were the move sets I used for each.

Serperior: Strength/Leaf Blade/Giga Drain/Coil
Scrafty: Dragon Claw/Crunch/Chip Away/Hi-Jump Kick
Cofagrigus: Grass Knot/Shadow Ball/Will-O-Wisp/Hex
Carracosta: Waterfall/Rock Slide/Crunch/Curse
Vanilluxe: Uproar/Flash Cannon/Mirror Coat/Ice Beam
Galvantula: Slash/Thunderbolt/Bug Buzz/Gastro Acid

That's all, yay, I entered the Hall of Fame! Not that anyone cares...

no, not yet unfotunately

I only recently found out Basculin gives 2 speed per kill....

EDIT: So I'm not alone? lol

Once, I realized that just when my (can't remember the Pokémon) just barely exceeded 240. I thought it was at 180.

Mine was, unfortunately, supposed to be at 252 :\ And I had given it 2 in Defense prior...Then saved >.< Either way, Basculin are 100% encounter rate right under that house-bridge place, so they're great for speed >_>...

How slower is training with the Macho Brace than the Power items, I cant get them yet because the stupid Battle Subway puts Life Orb and Choice Items to 48 BP so my Infernape misses out a lot of kills, and I my Heatran is unusable :/
So I want to start on a new Choice Band Garchomp that I actually RNGed in 4th gen (my first ever RNG). So is Macho Brace as a slow as I think?

The slowest you can go in terms of EV training is to simply start EV training without Pokerus and/or any EV-enhancing items. As for the difference between Macho Brace and Power items I would say that if you're "killing" Pokemon that yield 1 or possibly 2 EVs per kill the Macho Brace is 6 to 4 points slower than a Power Item.

1 * 2 * 2 = 4
1 + 4 * 2 = 10

2 * 2 * 2 = 8
2 + 4 * 2 = 12

Just want to say guys it IS possible to get EV-reducing berries - in the Dreamworld. I currently have Hondew and Kelpsy Berries growing nicely in my Garden.

The thing is, I don't know how you get them. The only reason I managed to get mine was sheer luck, as some Japanese player had a bunch on his Share Shelf, and I have seen none since.

So with the Dreamworld it is entirely possible to get them. Aim for the Japanese players, check their share shelf, and you may get lucky. Seeing as planting them essentially yield 4 more, it's worth it when you do.

Yeah, you're right!

You can find reduction berries in the sky area of the dream world.

This is what I get for not looking carefully enough >_<

On a side note, if anybody has over 7500 dream points and access to the forest area, please contact me. I am in desperate need of Chople berries, which are idiotically rare in BW. You have to catch Buneary in the forest and hope that it has the 5% chople berry...

On a side note, when you reset, does whether or not the pokemon has an item change as well?
