Pokémon Black/White in-game discussion

I can't RNG, but the only problem with breeding (for me) is getting the right HP type/power with all the other things still being very good.
I made a guide on Hidden Power a while ago. For move power, the most important is Special Defense.

Getting annoyed over breeding Ferrothorn, so is a Relaxed 31/29-30/20/x/31/7 one good enough? I like every stat but the defense stat, and I'm not sure how bad that's going to make it.

Grrr. Well, I'll keep on going for a while, but if nothing better comes up, I'll take it.

*Grumbles about having great parents and perfect stats in ones needed but RNG not wanting to comply*

So I've been breeding Lickitung for DAYS trying to get a flawless Cloud Nine one. Best so far was:

Male
Relaxed
Own Tempo
31/31/6/31/31/17

...six... FUCKING SIX IN DEFENSE. Hell, it has a higher Defense with a neutral nature and a 31. But what the heck, I'm keeping this thing. Better parent (male ftw) and my first quad-flawless. Gyro Ball will do enough anyway.
On the note of Lickitung, I just found one in the Dream World 10 minutes ago, and it asked me to look for a Starly. Well I swept through trying to find the lost berry, I did and Starly was no where near, the only near shaking clouds were home to a Drifblim and a Staravia :/. And I lost the minigame in front of a Lickitung a fucking Lickitung the first Ive ever encountered too. Stuff the DW

Has anyone else had troubles with double/ triple battle glitches?

I was playing though black and battled Charles in Driftveil (triple battle), and after 5 faints I was stuck on the "switch in screen", without being able to select >1 pokemon as I only had 1 left. The only way out was to soft reset, negating roughly an hour of in-game play.

I tried to force the same glitch on white, went into long grass w/ 3 pokemon. Let 2 die and the same glitch, it got stuck on "switch in".

It disappointed me to find quite a large and unexpected problem in what had so far been a good game. Watch out for it, especially if you're playing through.

I wish I had the time to breed for flawless, but I barely care about EV's never mind about IVs (I do care about Natures however).

Just evolved by Zweilous into Hydreigon last night :D Never thought i'd have the patience but I did, and it feels like an achievement.

That's not a glitch, it was designed like that. You click "Switch in" or something then you click on the fainted Pokemon (depending on what side of the field you want to send your healthy Pokemon in on)

Edit: After rereading it carefully, I assume you meant you had 1 left but couldn't switch its position with any of the fainted Pokes? That shouldn't happen.

Dw, I know about the switch in positions. I mean the screen is stuck on a choice of pokemon to switch in, where only 1 is alive and when I clicked it I got the message "X is already on the feild/ fighting", the others were just "Y is unable to fight" and was stuck indefinitely. I think what must of happened is that the switch in mechanic for fainted pokemon preludes the end of the turn, and there's probably some bad coding saying that all additional pokemon must be switched to all available places in if they are available or something similar. I might post a vid showing it.

I also don't remember having any problems in previous gens but I think I might actually test it to see what happens. Either way: it happened on both of my games so just be careful with double/ triple battles (probably rotation has a similar glitch). Having said that, it's probably pretty rare occasion to lose all your pokemon on 1 turn, after all but 1 have fainted beforehand. Double/ triple battles aren't that common either, I just wanted to complain about losing an hour's playing time.

It shouldn't happen in Rotations as only one of your Pokemon can faint at a time.

Trying to get a Timid Cobalion, and on my second try I get one with perfect speed. I get excited, until I check the spread and it has 30 Attack but 4 SpAttack. Curse you, RNG...

Is it just me or are Legendaries biased towards certain stats? Like Cobalion and Virizion have equal attack and special attack, but every time I tried to catch Cobalion, it'd always have more attack IVs than Special, and it's the opposite for Virizion. Doesn't help me that I'm trying to get a Physical attacker Virizion and a Special attacker Cobalion. -_-

I still don't quite understand how rotation battles work but that's ok I guess since I like never do them. (I have White)
Rotation battles work like triple battles except for:
-Only 1 of the 3 Pokemon can attack per turn (but it also can be attacked by one of the opponent's Pokemon)
-You can choose which Pokemon can attack in battle, hence the "rotation" part

If there's anything I missed here or needs elaboration, feel free to do that.

To be honest, it's FAR more like 3 simultaneous single battles than a triple battle.

Every time a pokemon get's rotated out, time essentially stops for them (isn't affected by Speed Boost, Intimidate, Area of Effect moves), and when they get rotated in, time restarts for them.

The difference is, they don't lose stat boosts/drops, soft statuses like Taunt and Leech Seed, etc. It's a pretty big deal.

Yeah, this too.

Basically, when they get rotated out, they still count as being on the field, so they don't get the effects from being switched out either.

Exactly. Don't compare it to a triple battle guys. Its like a 1v1 battle with instant switches and a few other differences.

Either way Rotation Battles is something new and much more fun the triple battles that in my opinion are a rip off from double battles. Dont mean to offend anyone though

Randomly generating Virizion the old school way turned up terrible results, so I RNG'd for the first and likely last time. Perfect Jolly Virizion get!! :D

I just completely owned myself while EV training zorua. I totally ran away from the first basculin because I thought I put my surfwhore in the lead spot.

After playing 750+ hours of Pearl, I was burned out on Pokemon for a while, until I picked up Black over a week ago.

I have to say, it's pretty damn good. I'm really diggin' a lot of the new Pokemon, with my favorites being Scrafty, Timburr, Mienfoo and Elgyem (Reminds me of the "Okay" reaction face). I can't wait to use them in WiFi battles.

The only thing I don't like is that the dungeons and gyms feel linear. The gyms only seemed to have one path, and you had to fight every damn trainer you saw. I don't remember if it was like that in Pearl. Also, this was easily the worst Victory Road.

The game also seems easy. Aside from Lenora's damn Wathchog, I pretty much swept the entire game, without ever going out of my way to level. I'm actually looking forward to challenging the Elite 4 with my crappy mid-40s team of Emboar/Stoutland/Unfezant/Lilligant/Seismitoad/Vanillish.

Although it's not the game's problem, I will say this: Dream World can choke on a fat one.
