I’ve been running this team for a while, and I have to say it is pretty effective. I really like Choice Band Haxorus a lot. It may seem crazy to run 4 choiced pokemon on a team, but I really like the synergy it has. Anyway, I’ve always like Wash Rotom, which is the pokemon I started the team with.
Team Building Process :
As I said, Wash Rotom was the first pokemon I added to the team. I really like its design and animation, and its stats and typing are awesome. I choose to use a Choice Scarfed version of it because its kinda slow without it and it will still be powerful firing off Hydro Pumps and Thunders in rain.
For a rain team to work, you need Politoed. Well, that’s my next member. It doesn’t have awesome synergy with Rotom outside of that, as it shares its Grass weakness, while being weak to Electric, a type that Rotom doesn’t resist. I choose a Choice Specsed version of Politoed because that way Tyranitar won’t like getting onto its Surfs countless times.
Scizor was just an obvious on that team. It x4 resists Grass moves that my two other members are afraid of, and its only weakness is Fire, which is reduced by Rain and resisted by both Rotom and Politoed. It also gives Tyranitar further problems, which helps me, since right now it simply CANNOT switch in any of my pokemon. It also beats Ferrothorn with Superpower, something that is really appreciated by any Rain teams.
Deoxys-S helps me a lot, as it can lure Tyranitar, destroy Conkeldurr, beat Dragonite, set up Stealth Rocks. Its weaknesses are all resisted by Scizor too, which is nice. It also gives me a useful Fighting resist. It can revenge kill nearly anything, bar +2 stuff and Excadrill. It also beats Thundurus, a great threat.
I needed something bulky for my team, because not-so powerful attackers were most likely to earn easy KO’s on my other members. Dragonite is there to punish them with its powerful Hurricane.
I really didn’t know what to put there, so I just randomly threw Haxorus in. It works really well, destroying Steels like a madman.
So thanks to you all I realized my team had 1 big weakness : Electric. I replaced Dragonite for another dragon, but this time it is a Latias. It has pretty great synergy with the rest of the team.
The Team
Okay, so that was taken right from PK Gaming’s Enter The Dragon, but god is that set effective. Choice Band Haxorus destroys nearly everything with Outrage, even more with Skarm being less than popular. Its job is mainly to punch holes in the foe’s team right off the bat, like weakening Ferrothorn, a great threat to my team. It also stop stupid Bronzong leads from setting up Trick Room, as it will get annihilated by Earthquake. Its two weaknesses (Dragon and Ice) are resisted by Scizor, so it can beat an incoming Latios trying to Draco Meteor it. Haxorus is also an extremely important player in matches against stall-defensive teams, because it has the capacity of breaking walls pretty easily, without lots of prediction.
I really love this thing. It’s perfect for rain: its dual STABs fit perfectly, its ability allows it to beat Sand, and it’s fast and powerful. It’s my main sweeper: once its few counters (if any) are gone, this guy goes wild. It has good synergy with Scizor, as it can take out its counters, while Scizor does same. They also both resist each other’s only weakness. I like Hidden Power Ice because it has nice coverage with my STAB moves and beats dragons. I’m considering Volt Switch over Trick because I’m not using it often, and it can Volt Switch/U-Turn spam with its partner Scizor. It also has great synergy with Haxorus, as it can beat most Steel types that could stop its Outrage, namely Skarmory, while Haxorus beats Blissey.
As you probably figured out before, I heavily rely on Scizor for this team to work. It has an awesome typing, which helps me resist the weaknesses of those pokemon :
-Haxorus (Dragon, Ice) 2/2
-Rotom-W (Grass) 1/1
-Deoxys-S (Bug, Dark, Ghost) 3/3
-Politoed (Grass) 1/2
-Latias (Dragon, Ice, Dark, Ghost, Bug) 5/5
So you see how important Scizor is on my team defensively. It is also extremely useful offensively, as it helps me revenge kill stuff like Terrakion, Deoxys-S, Salamence and Tornadus. It’s also my only priority user, which we all know is very important in today’s crazy fast metagame. Anyway, I think Scizor is a must on any rain teams, since it helps their weaknesses so much and it’s only weakness, Fire, has half the power in rainy conditions. Yes please.
People often overlook Deoxys-S as an attacker. “It’s not powerful enough”, “It’s better as a suicide lead”, “Offensive Psychics? Lol.” are a lot of comments I heard about offensive Deoxys-S. Obviously, its base Special Attack may not be as high as Chandelure, Gengar or Latios, but it can be a very powerful mixed attacker, as it is hella fast and has an awesome movepool. Against most sand teams, when Deoxys comes out and spam Ice Beams or Psycho Boosts, Tyranitar shows up, and promply gets hammered by Superpower, earning me an easy win (if Politoed is alive of course). Anyway, this guy protects me against the popular Dragonite lead, as well from DD Mence, (Garchomp, now banned), Landorus, Thundurus (Sub versions are difficult to deal with though) and other random stuff, all with Ice Beam. I like the + Speed nature on it as it can outspeed up to +1 base 100s with it. Along with Scizor, it’s my main revenge killer. I also chose it instead of other stuff because of the ever useful Stealth Rocks.
You thought Politoed was a defenseless, cute frog and that was better suited as a pet than a competitive pokemon? Well, the truth is that it WAS. Politoed now has the best ability in the game, Drizzle, which is why it found a spot on my team. It has pretty decent Special Attack, maxing at 305, which becomes pretty respectable with a Choice Specs to boost it. Along with Dragonite, it is a bulky powerhouse. Tyranitar often comes on it thinking it will take pathetic damage from something like 0 SpA Surf, but then it faces a nasty surprise. I opted for Perish Song on the last slot since it protects me from SmashPass, and I don’t like to mess with the RNG and risk a Focus Blast miss, which would end the game pretty soon for me.

Latias, while not on my team before, became a crucial member of this team's success. It is my only Electric resistance, which means it's also my only safe switch-in for Thundurus. With this huge special defense and the HP investment, it's able to tank most special attack, even most super effective ones with ease (I'm not talking about Latios' Draco Meteor here!). Even more important, Latias provides me a great way to sweep the opponent's team in late game. While it's not as good in beating Conkeldurr as Dragonite was, it lacks its Rock weakness that was pretty hindering for my team, since I have no resists!
