Media Yu-Gi-Oh discussion

Sams are either skilled or absolutely autopilot

Very skilled = you go second and you get a shitty hand
No skill = you go first and you get Gateway, United, Kizan, Kagemusha, Smoke Signal and DEST

raise the user limit to 4500 please :D
Once the barrage of people connecting at the same time goes down, we'll probably raise it up. It's putting a hell of a lot of stress on the server.

Oh, also i'm dueling networks senior admin, so worship me and junk.
*worships*

I'd complain about server capacity but I know it must be frustrating getting 92834928257 other complains a day and I can understand the stress of the server so I'll lay off. :P

Pretty great job with the site so far! I guess the only real critique I have with it is that it needs to be easier to contact users in the "online user" list, because it can get infuriating by trying to click on their name. I know you can add them as friends and PM them from there but you may not always want to do that. An online "friends list" would be great, as well as the ability to right-click on people to "invite them to game" instead of creating a game and having the other friend look for it in the lobby.

Uhhh man. XYZ decks are really very cool.

That is, when the XYZ deck isn't using Sangan + Tour Guide + Rescue Rabbit. I wonder which one is gonna get the boot when the next ruling comes out.

EDIT: Hmmm, they probably won't even be considered in the Sept. 1st. Well nevermind then.

Glen's post from a while back really intrigued me (about Zombies, Blue-Blooded Oni, Goblin Zombie, and rank 4 XYZs). I've made a deck "skeleton" but I'd like some more help on as what else to put.

Current Card Count: 34
Monsters: 18
3 Goblin Zombie
3 Zombie Master
3 Blue-Blooded Oni
2 Tour Guide from the Underworld
1 Dark Armed Dragon
1 Card Trooper
1 Sangan
1 Mezuki
1 Plaguespreader Zombie
1 Pain Painter
1 Glow-Up Bulb

Spells: 10
2 Mystical Space Typhoon
1 Burial from a Different Dimension
1 Allure of Darkness
1 Monster Reborn
1 Foolish Burial
1 Mind Control
1 Dark Hole
1 Giant Trunade
1 Creature Swap

Traps: 6
2 Solemn Warning
1 Solemn Judgment
1 Torrential Tribute
1 Mirror Force
1 Call of the Haunted

Tech thoughts: Book of Life? Bottomless? A third Tour Guide? Tengu? More Card Trooper? Quillbolt?

Blue-Blooded Oni
300px-BlueNosferatuGENF-JP-R.jpg

DARK/Zombie/Level 4
1000 ATK/1700 DEF
When this card is Normal or Flip Summoned: Change it to Defense Position. Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material you control to target 1 Level 4 or lower Zombie-Type monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that target.

<insert staple synchros here>

List of possible XYZs:
Leviair the Sea Dragon
Number 10: Illumiknight
Number 17: Leviathan Dragon
Number 39: Utopia
Steelswarm Roach
Vylon Disigma
Daigusto Phoenix

The XYZ list was hastily made and there are probably a lot more XYZs that may be useful. Please feel free to point them out.

I usually love Book of Life. It is a Monster Reborn for your Zombie Monsters while being anti meta at the same time.

Maybe you could tech a Bottomless, but Tengu seems to fit this deck really well. I am not really feeling the second Card Trooper or the Quilbolt though.

you dont need three zombie master or 3 oni, you should run 3 tour guide. needs gorz, needs veiler/crow/maxx c (not sure on ratio of each cause i have no idea what the meta is going to be but im p sure most decks i play are going to run 5 combined, prolly 2 c 2 crow 1 veiler). run turtle as well. book of life is really good. i dont really like glowup, librarian's usefulness will be limited considering the fact that your goal is to tunnelvision xyz + oni.

run caius, dont run trooper

I've done 5 test duels so far and I'm 4 and 1, all of them being landslide victories. The six cards I'm running in addition to the decklist posted above are:

1 Card Trooper
2 Book of Life
1 Pot of Avarice
2 Black Horn of Heaven

I'm not really feeling the second Card Trooper either, nor am I loving the Avarice. A lot of times I find myself really in need of a card that'll let me discard from hand. Since the current XYZs and synchros don't really seem to stand up well to mass monster destruction, I'm leaning toward Lightning Vortex.

And Black Horn of Heaven has got to be one of my favorite tech cards of all time now. Although, perhaps Bottomless would be better. Still, Black Horn stops a lot of stuff, including some XYZs that get under Bottomless. You also can't chain Trap Stun to it.

I'm thinking Trap Dustshoot as a possibility as well.

Blue-Blooded Oni is good but I may choose to run just 2 because 3 seems like overkill at the moment. The card can be searched by Sangan but not Goblin. Pyramid Turtle maybe?

By the way, the searching power in this deck is crazy. Bust out Exceeds ALL THE TIME. Although I do miss my 2 Mezuki ;_;

If anyone's interested, the one loss I had was against a player running Harpie Ladies. And Harpie's Hunting Ground. And Morphing Jar. And Obelisk the Tormentor.

I had a shit hand of 6 spells/traps starting off. He gets rid of one of my Black Horns (much to my dismay). At one point I'm about to combo him but he monster reborns Obelisk after pitching it from Morphing Jar. I negate with my other Black Horn and what does he play? Magical Stone Excavation. Plays Monster Reborn again, and equips freakin UNITED WE STAND onto it (he also has a Morphing Jar) and combined with about 3500 damage of poke I took earlier (from Harpies and my own Warning), he kills me. SON I AM EMBARRASS

EDIT: Glen, you ninja'd me so I'm reading your post now.

EDIT EDIT: Three Z-Master is really strong here I feel, but I'm agreeing with 2 Blue-Blooded being best. 3 Tour Guide is something I'll have to test, in addition to running more Revise Dragons. I'll try Veiler/Crow techs - Maxx C possibly. Glow-Up makes Trishula very easy - in fact I won a recent game because I could get her out.

Caius I will test.

If anyone's interested, my current extra deck is:
1 Catastor
1 Brionac
1 Scrap Dragon
1 Stardust
1 Trishula
1 Ally of Justice Decisive Armor (Laugh if you will, but level 10 is INCREDIBLY EASY with this deck. 4+4+2. He wins games, and gets over Terror-Byte.)
1 Gem-Knight Pearl (Replace with Utopia?)
2 Leviair the Sea Dragon (Absolute sex in this deck)
1 Number 10 - Illumiknight (Very strong as well)
1 Number 17 - Leviathan Dragon (Obvious Tour Guide plays, should probably run 2 of these)
2 Steelswarm Roach (These have been feeling just OKAY for me.)
2 Vylon Disigma (Great card.)

Right now the biggest problem I have with the deck is having my XYZ monsters stuck on their XYZ with no way to detach them because Oni is either chilling in the deck or in my hand and I can't get it out. None of the level 4 XYZ monsters here have any good ignition effect aside from Disigma, and that's not reliable. Any suggestions?

yeah thats true on glowup, i wasnt considering trish for some reason lol, how amateur

im still iffy on triple master. with turtles and gobzombs you can search it out whenever you want and i cant imagine you ever needing more than 2.

duality is a considerable card too since you have enough passive plays in gobzomb/turtle, but its playstyle dependent

i cant really give the best advice since youre basically playing an imaginary metagame (tour guide with ocg cards ?_?) but i stand by everything i said except for the glowup thing. also im glad youre learning that roach is an average card at best (cannot believe its 80 dollars), it came at the worst possible time; tour guide already gives you such unreasonable momentum, it doesnt need a 1900 to swing over after xyzing.

I typed my last post before going to bed and as soon as I hit the mattress I thought of Zenmaister. It's got a handy ignition effect that lets me get off Gob searches easily so I may just run some of those. Roach has been, as you said, lacking.

rate my dw deck:

3x snow
3x grapha
3x broww
3x beiige
1x goldd
1x silvaa
1x tour guide
1x sangan

Total: 17

Thinking of dropping the goldd/silvaa for Tour Guide, but then, they give more Virus fodder, and I'd prefer to draw Tour Guide midgame to go into Tour Guide/Sangan/recover RFGed monster plays.

Spells

3x Dealings
3x Gate
2x Lightning
2x Duality
1x Reborn
1x Trunade

Total: 12

Trying Duality in DW, thinking of -1 Duality for +1 Lightning.

Traps:

2x Warning
2x EEV
2x Compulsory
1x DDV
1x Judgement
1x Dustshoot
1x Mind Crush
1x Mirror Force
1x Dimensional Prison

Total: 11

These traps are geared towards devastating my opponents hand and their ability to use their backrow to stop my plays.

I know Dragged Down promotes overextension, but it also allows me to know what's in my opponent's hand, especially if I didn't get Dustshoot off.

Scrap Iron Scrarecrow is ridiculous........

Basically stops one attack per turn, and if you have 2 on the field it's impossible to get anything done.....

Why isn't it banned? or limited to 1

Why isn't it banned? or limited to 1
Because it doesn't really DO anything. You can stall with it but that's it. It's not proactive enough - it's a REACTIVE card, and that's a problem in a tempo-based metagame. Compare it to Torrential, Mirror Force, Solemn Judgment, Solemn Warning, and all the other staple trap cards being used. There's not enough "bang for the buck", so to speak.

scrap iron is chill with the dark door on final countdown

problem is they all get scrap dragon / brionac / etc, which completely fucks that up so...

I almost want to make a Hand Control deck for fun, with double Reaper and triple Don Zaloog, Mystic Tomato, maybe some dark support.

The main issue with that would be it may be a bit too slow, and large backrows will ruin the deck. Dark World would also auto win against it.

Its just that if they attack into Don Zaloog turn one and lose a card, then I summon a second Don Zaloog and make them discard two.. it just feels really hot.
