Team Fortress 2 - Join us at #lol

We kicked ass yesterday <3, specially Escalator and Minwu
Anyway, I crafted the sniper riffle, and I'm back to the original, The Machina is nice but for some reason I feel like I can't aim that well with it, and I don't like how it tells everyone and their mothers where I am hidden
Same with the Spy, Diamondback is cool but the Ambassador is still my fav, sap a sentry and headshot crit its Engie?, yes please

Lets organize a Smogon raid on a Valve server soon. I have access to TF2 all this semester. Highlander Smogon gooooo

Friday was awesome, looking forward to next week guys ;3

Yes the Quake launcher really helps me with directs, the jumping is a bit different but I'm starting to get used to it, I only really miss the right-side firing vs sentries around left corners with the RL.

Does the original Rocket Launcher actually aim differently compared to others? It may just be what I need to actually want to use the soldier.

Also for those of us who don't have every weapon this site here is useful for figuring out what you can make, helps with hats too.

This game has pretty much consumed me recently, really really enjoying it and I think I've gotten pretty good. I'd love to play with you guys, are there any particular times that you tend to be on?

yes the brain slug has not graced me yet :(

dont go near me though, i'm the mad samuri demoman with a massive axe slamming everything for 175 damage :P

It and the Sandman fire their projectiles with an origin right at the middle of your screen. Other projectile and particle weapons fire with an offset on the side of your viewmodel (default right). The offset is sometimes why a Soldier or Pyro can destroy your nest without you even having a line of sight.

I'd like to hear any new tech people have been trying out. Combos, loadouts, different strategies. Stuff like the Gunslinger/Frontier Justice combo I was discussing earlier (although that's really well-known and obvious).

One thing I have been doing latey is Demoknighting with the Splendid Screen and the Half-Zatoichi. People rarely Demoknight with the HZ, but I have been liking it. You can't switch to the Grenade Launcher, which is an issue. But the ability to charge in and go back to full health after the first kill has greatly increased my ability to plow through several enemies instead of just trading kills. Just remember that you don't get the health if you kill them with the shield bash.

I have also been trying out the Short Circuit, which is probably the least talked-about of the new weapons. I really like it. It can clear out stickies like no other weapon in the game, and it can even protect your nest from grenades. My experience with the Wrangler has been that it is occasionally amazing, but often frustrating and not always worth giving up the Sentry's ability to "see" targets I don't notice. The Short Circuit is very useful and my current secondary of choice for both offensive and defensive Engineering.

As several of you know, several smogon players had a little get-together this past friday where we ended up stomping all over some Valve servers. I figure, since we got a LOT of people involved and it turned out to be a lot of fun, I will be starting an event every Friday starting around 4 or 5pm EST. I figure that's the best time as it's not too late for people in Europe and it's not too early for west-coasters, the weekends are usually booked, and people don't have classes on Friday typically (unless you're still in High School, in which case you should be out by this time). If this time is bad for enough people, I'll see about rescheduling, but only if a lot of people can't make it.

So! To jump in with us, join the Smogon steam group so that you can see the Event as it begins. We will be using the Steam Group Chat to organize where people want to play and to talk in between games (deciding what team to stack heh). Also, join #Tf2 on irc. It's usually pretty active.

I will see you guys there this Friday, I should hope :>

Sounds good MrEsc, me and Minwu did it last night where I Medic pocketed him and we really did get shit done. I think we were like 50 points above the third placed person on the board. Even better was when I went Quick-fix and we stomped as pocket Scout..

Which saw do you guys prefer the most? Lately I am loving the free 20% uber with Vita-saw, but there are times where I really wish I had Ubersaw.

The Medieval Medic set was what I used for a long time, that HP boost can really help against pyro, and I am crap with syringe gunning anyways. It's a bit hypocritical because I hate weapons that clearly have zero downsides, amputator being one.

I'm trying out the overdose now so I've picked up the ubersaw. But I'll probably go back to my regular set in time.

Speaking of Pyro, I've been rocking the Candy Cane as Scout lately and I must say it helps a lot. Of course a Scout will beat Pyro 90% of the time, but the health drop after puts out afterburn by a stray particle, I love it. I really think afterburn needs to kick in after a set few particles hit the enemy, say 12 or so.. the TF2 cast don't use gasoline for cologne ffs.

Pyro is my primary class, and I actually beat Scouts quite often. Obviously a very good Scout who starts with a range advantage can win, but I just run in that case. What very often happens is that I hit a Scout hard, he backpedals fast and gets off a couple of shots, and I chase while switching to Flare Gun or Detonator. The auto-crit (or mini-crit) usually finishes him off unless he is running full Special Delivery.

That said, the Candy Cane does seem like it would help. I do steal quite a few post-mortem kills from burning Scouts. Am I correct in assuming that you do not use Bonk? A lot of Scouts use that against me when I get the drop on them. I use Soda Popper/Bonk on Scout, but if I want a different secondary weapon, the Candy Cane seems like a good option to make up some of that survivability.

I just got settled into college and this time is looking really nice so far. I guess you can expect me to be there!
I also want at least one match of mass shotgun hoovies

Why are you asking for the Pyro to be nerfed without proposing an alternative buff? Okay, I would agree your proposal was reasonable, but... the Pyro's bad off enough as it is without making it harder to set stuff on fire :/

Mantyke: Esc was a glorious shoovy, I'm not sure if you were there but I don't think you were :( Or maybe you were and I forgot. I also forgot who was pocket Medicing him... Minwu?

Now while they don't use gasoline for cologne, you have to keep in mind that if someone engulfs you in flame, you will die, and will be able to very little in the way of movement while you are dying, as you are ON FIRE, so let's acknowledghe that TF2 is never going to be realistic. Also, WTF? The only thing pyro is good for is quickly igniting then airblasting a target before said target has time to kill said pyro, why in the hell would you take that away from him? Also the hitbox from the Flamethrower is retarded, so have fun with that too. Pyro is still the worst class in the game, don't do him like Riot Games did Pantheon

GGs :p

The Vita-Saw is probably the best(but boring to use, personally) but the Ubersaw is so amazing when you're lucky with it/the other team just gets stomped by it. Medics just getting the game need to find some melee to replace the default, because it's terrible :x

I use one of the following most of the time:

Overdose
Medigun
Ubersaw

Overdose
Kritz
Ubersaw

Medic set + Kritz

Blutsauger
Quick Fix
Solemn Vow

The Cane is pretty good to have after a close encounter against a Scout or Pyro, but it makes your real threat, Soldiers, even more of a pain. Actually, Demos can kill you with a pipe even after you have like half-full overheal too lol.

I think the near-instant critaxes(which requires burn) should stay, but those suicidal Pyros that airblast spam your uber away are too annoying ;/

Yes :P

SHOOVY IS STRON

Ubersaw is great in pubs, but vita is super good for comp. Also, come on, airblasting ubers is approximately the most fun thing about being a pyro. Don't hater, love

really? when i play pyro i beat scouts all the time with this loadout
degreaser
flare
axetinguisher

i main demoman witht his one.
loch n load
splended screen
headless horsemans headtaker
good fun when you get 5 head and instakill everything 175hp or lower with the shield slam

Current setups.

HEavy.
Brass
sand
Gloves of running urgently

Sniper
The entire croc setup.

Pyro (for anti scouts+ comp.)
Backburner
Detonator
Postal Pummler

Soldier(comp
Cow mangler
Buff banner
Disciplinary action/Equalizer (depends if the team is heavy based or not.)

what comp league is the buff banner allowed in ? i'm pretty sure esea/that other one doesn't allow it, but this is just me following some matches on another message board. i'm not actually anywhere good enough to play comp ): also uuuuuugh i need to craft me a disciplinary action, but i only have one pain train and the sandman to make another is vintage so i'd feel bad :(

had some nice ubersaw smacks today, killing a heavy with one is so damn satisfying it hurts. it hurts good.
